2015-2016 Sponsorship Information Package

Dear current and future ASU Cycling sponsors, The ASU Cycling Club thanks you for your interest in the ASU Cycling Club. Seeing that the 2014-15 academic year and cycling season are over now, it is time for reflection as well as for the recruitment of sponsors, donors, and supporters for the coming season. This past year, the club has had a tremendous amount of success on all levels and in all aspects: We grew in membership to 50 riders (32 of which hold USA Cycling licenses), we increased the number of female members, we became more competitive in all disciplines (Road cycling, mountain bike, cyclo-cross, track, and BMX), winning the Team Road Conference Omnium for the season (for the first time in 8 years), we again were represented at Road and BMX Collegiate National Championships (and will also be represented at the Track Collegiate National Championships in the Fall), we hosted the largest one-day criterium bicycle race in Arizona, the Sun Devil Criterium, which we were able to move to a fantastic location around the Tempe campus, and we won the Pitchfork Award for Best Sports Club. In terms of personnel, we have grown our core leadership team, have been able to find a dedicated, knowledgeable advisor in Donna Lewandowski, the Director of Bicycle Programs at ASU, and will now have coaches licensed by USA-Cycling. Our main goals for the 2015-16 are repeating these achievements, but in particular, we would like to:  Continue to grow membership.  Strengthen and expand alumni relations.  Become more competitive across all cycling disciplines.  Send larger, more competitive teams to Collegiate National Championships (in all disciplines).  Achieve Emerging Varsity Status with USA Cycling, with the mid-term goal of becoming a Varsity team with scholarships for club members.  Continue to grow the Sun Devil Criterium.  Expand our education and training programs. These goals require a lot of hard work on and off the bike from us, but we are also dependent on the generosity and support of sponsors and donors. If you would like to be part of our team for the 2015-16 season, please contact us. We are looking forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, Your 2015-16 ASU Cycling Officers: Scott Jones – President and Coach Alissa Albrecht – Vice President Road Brandon Koch – Vice President Mountain Bike and Cyclo-Cross Alan Bonk – Treasurer Abel Clutter – PR Officer Constantin Schreiber – Race Director and Coach Benjamin Mangilit – Head Safety Officer

About ASU Cycling Mission The Arizona State University (ASU) Cycling Club is a group comprised of students, faculty and staff whose common interest is a shared love for cycling. We are a club by and for college students, staff, and faculty at all ASU campuses, including the online campus. ASU Cycling is primarily a development club, which means that we strive to bring people into the sport of cycling and educate and train them to be healthy, knowledgeable, and safe cyclists, whatever type of bike they have. As a USA Cycling-sanctioned collegiate club, we welcome road cyclists, mountain bikers, cyclocross riders, track riders, and BMX riders. A key part of our focus on the sport of cycling is that we advocate for responsible, safe and healthy cycling practices and to strive for improved cyclist/motorist relations through appropriate action. The club seeks to achieve this purpose through education and by providing a consistent and positive example. This will always be ASU Cycling’s primary function as it is comprised of athletes of all abilities and varying interests and the most crucial ingredient for any member, be they casual or competitive, will always be a prevailing emphasis on bike safety. With this emphasis in mind, we strive toward having fun and being as competitive as we can be in whichever race we ride. We compete in the Southwest Collegiate Cycling Conference (SWCCC) and we send riders to national championships every year. Go Devils!

Vision ASU Cycling develops beginning riders just as well as riders who compete at the regional and national level. To achieve this vision, we are striving to increase the club’s continuity and stability, aiming to first establish it as Emerging Varsity with USA Cycling with the mid-term goal of achieving full Varsity status, which requires the provision of $10,000 in annual scholarships. As cycling is not an NCAA sport, it is much less restricted so that the potential for growth is enormous. As ASU Cycling continues to grow and become more competitive, we are looking to increase the club’s infrastructure and support system to ensure continuity and stability over the coming years. One of the measures helping us achieve this goal is the addition of an ASU Cycling advisory committee this year to our already strong support base at ASU. We also strive to strengthen and intensify our community involvement and relations, having worked with Strada Racing Club, a local development club, in the past years.
