OTHER SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES 1. Scientific director of the web page www.paidiatros.com which consists substantially of two totally different web pages. The first web page is directed toward the parents and the second is directed toward pediatricians. It is the official web page of the Pediatric Company of Cyprus. Has on average of 11,000-12,000 different visitors per month and about 300,000 hits per month. 2. Member of the Scientific Committee for the organization of the Pan-European Conference of Pediatrics (Europediatrics) 2008. In this committee there are 15 professors and pediatricians from all over Europe. A maximum of only one professor or doctor can participate from any one country. 3. Member of the National Committee “Environment and Child Health”. Appointed on 30 January 2004 and reappointed in May 2007 for another three years. This committee is appointed by the Council of Ministers with the following mandate: • Prepares and coordinates the implementation of the National Action Scheme. • Advises the Minister of Health in matters related to legislation and other procedures. • It is the contact point of the National Point of Reference for the cooperation regarding the Environment-Child Health with the European Union, the World Health Organization and the other International Organizations. 4. Member of the committee “Innovations in the Ministry of Health”. This committee is appointed by the Minister of Health. Its purpose is to advice the Minister in matters such as: • New tendencies in Medical Science and Public Health • New therapies • Cooperations with centers and scientists abroad • Etc 5. Committee for the review of the “Booklet of Child’s Health”. Participated in the committee that reviewed and created the new booklet on child’s health which was published in 2007. 6. Represented Cyprus in the European Academy of Pediatricians from 1999 to date. In this body there is only one representative from every nation of the European Union. Its task is, among other things, to accomplish the following: • Streamline the political and strategic health tasks in the countries of the European Union • Establishment of necessary criteria regarding sub-specialties in pediatrics • Promotion of legislation at the European Union level regarding pediatric health • Etc 7. Since 2005, member of the Executive Council of the European Academy of Pediatrics. Represent the Secondary Care for all the nations of the European Union. Secretary General of the European Academy of Paediatrics since December 2012 8. Member of the Cyprus Pediatric Association since 1994. Member of the Executive Council of the Pediatric Company of Cyprus since 1998 and Secretary since 2005. 9. Member of the scientific team for the support of the organization of the Association “ADD-ADHD SUPPORT Cyprus”.
