ASL DIGITAL WIRELESS INTERCOM (Preliminary Information)

The ASL wireless intercom system consists of single and dual channel wireless beltpacks and main stations for 2 or 4 wireless connections.

Special attention has been paid to the ease of operation, enabling the user to expand his wired intercom system with a reliable and fully featured, wireless intercom section. The system is based on the global license exempt frequency of 2.4 GHz. Within the available band, ASL managed to establish a maximum of 8 wireless full duplex intercom connections. Each connection can be made with a single channel or a dual channel wireless beltpack. Due to the audio frequency range of 100Hz - 12KHz the system is very comfortable to use for longer periods of time with an extremely high intelligibility of speech.

The wireless beltpacks contain all standard ASL features, including CALL, TALK and MIC MUTE functions, with LED’s indicators on the front panel. The system is designed to be a medium reach intercom system.

WS 400 Main Station

Main stations WS 200 and WS 400 (19”, 1U) The WS 200 contains 2 send/receive units, the WS 400 contains 4 send/receive units, for full duplex connections. A maximum of 8 full duplex connections at one location is possible by using either four WS 200 main stations or two WS 400 main stations. Assigning wireless beltpacks The send/receive unit is assigned by matching the number of the rotation switch on the front panel with the number on the beltpack (maximum 8 beltpacks in one location). Interfacing to wired intercom With switches on the rear panel of the main station, each send/receive unit may be routed to either the built-in two channel (A and B ) partyline interface, or to 4-wire intercom systems. Input and output volumes can be adjusted by trimmers at the rear of the main station. Indicators A LED will indicate the ACTIVE status of a wireless connection. Other LED’s will indicate the wireless connection is routed to either channel A or to channel B. Side Tone & Power Supply The sidetone can be adjusted by a small trimmer at the front panel. The internal power supply makes sure that no additional power is taken from the intercom line.

WS 19 Beltpack The WS 19 is a portable, single channel, wireless, digital user station. It is housed in a strong aluminium case and is provided with a steel beltclip. The beltpack is fully featured and it has all the standard functions an ASL wired beltpack has. Special attention has been paid to the intelligibility of speech. Due to using low noise/high speed opamps, a speech presence filter and a specially developed high power bridged headphone amplifier, communication becomes very comfortable even in environments with high background noise levels.

VOLUME control On the front panel is a Volume control which adjusts the listen level of the beltpack. CALL function Smooth operation is guaranteed by the CALL button. This unique ASL call system provides a flashing red LED as well as a very distinctive and characteristic sound signal. A momentary push of the CALL button activates a flashing red and very bright LED, and when holding the button for two seconds or longer the CALL sound signal will be activated. The volume of the sound signal (buzzer) can be adjusted at the side panel. TALK function The TALK button has the same familiar dual function as the wired intercom units of the ProSeries. A short push will activate the microphone and the latching function, another push will deactivate the microphone. When holding the TALK button for over two seconds it will activate the momentary function and the microphone will switch off once the button is released. Power The beltpack comes with a high capacity, rechargeable, Ni-Mh battery pack. This battery will last up to 8 hours of operation, it can be charged inside the beltpack by the built-in battery charger. A signal in the headset cans will inform the user of a 'battery low', or an 'nearly out of reach' .
