In order for a company to be accredited, they must first insure that their processes meet the requirements of the specific “audit checklists” that Nadcap provides. Once the customer feels they are in compliance, an audit is performed at the site and if the audit is successful, the company becomes Nadcap accredited.

Autoclave, Oven, and CPC compliance ASC autoclaves, ovens, and CPC control systems are compliant with Nadcap and meet the requirements of Audit Criteria document # AC7118 Rev B (Sept. 12, 2010).
Job Audit For Cure - Autoclave The following shows the 20a job audit for autoclaves.:

ASC Process Systems 28402 Livingston Ave. Valencia, CA 91355 USA www.aschome.com As you can see, a few of these paragraphs (20a.2.4, 20a.2.5, 20a.2.6, 20a.2.7, 20a.2.8) address the customer’s internal procedures and methods (ie. bagging materials, tooling, etc.) and have no bearing on the actual autoclave. The paragraphs that deal with the autoclave equipment are: 20a.2.1 Are curing parameters (e.g. heating and cooling ramp rates and holds, pressure, vacuum, time, etc) monitored, recorded and verified per requirements? ASC Answer: Yes. ASC’s autoclave and the CPC control system monitors all process values, process rates and dwell times and records them to disk file at a user-configured interval (usually 1 minute). During the run, the control system constantly validates/verifies the readings per the specification and cure requirements. 20a.2.1 – Is the cure record labeled with all applicable parameters (e.g. temperature, time, vacuum and pressure) and retained as part of the manufacturing record? ASC Answer: Yes. ASC’s autoclave and the CPC control system meet this requirement. The CPC data record is recorded and stored every 1 minute (configurable) and includes elapsed time as well as air temperature, part temperatures, part vacuum levels, and autoclave pressure readings. 20a.2.3 Are minimum temperature requirements adhered to prior to removing parts from the autoclave? ASC Answer: Yes. ASC’s autoclave and the CPC control system meet this requirement. CPC guarantees that the parts have reached minimum cure temperature and guarantees that the parts remain above minimum cure temperature for the required time. If parts are not cured properly, CPC issues alarms and creates rejections for the specific parts

Preventative Maintenance The preventative maintenance section includes a reference to ovens and autoclaves, however the preventative maintenance plan is a customer responsibility.
Temperature Uniformity Surveys This section doesn’t mention autoclaves or ovens, but it is relevant to autoclave and oven processing. This requires that the customer perform calibration, certification, and uniformity checks in accordance with their customer’s and/or material specification.

Cure This section doesn’t mention autoclaves or ovens specifically, but it is relevant to autoclave processing.
8.7.1 Are cure requirements (i.e., temperature, pressure, vacuum, hold times, ramp rates, etc.) monitored, recorded and verified per customer requirements? ASC Answer: Yes. ASC’s autoclaves, ovens, and the CPC control systems monitor all process values, process rates and dwell times and records them to disk file at a user-configured interval (usually 1 minute). During the run, the control system constantly validates/verifies the readings per the specification and cure requirements. 8.7.2 Does the documented procedure or work instruction contain detailed curing instructions, reference to computer program, or reference to the customer’s curing specification? ASC Answer: Yes. ASC’s autoclaves, ovens, and the CPC control systems maintain a detailed cure recipe with instructions that mirror the cure requirements directed by the specification. Additionally, ASC’s cure recipe includes reference fields which identify the material specification. 8.7.3 Is a record maintained listing the facility, equipment identification, date and time of day of cure cycle start, and control numbers or serial numbers of part(s) included in the cycle? ASC Answer: Yes. ASC’s autoclaves, ovens, and the CPC control system’s data records include the company, department/facility, equipment identification, date and time of cure cycle start, and all information pertaining to the parts, including model #, serial #, and other user-configurable fields.
