2012-2013 Needs/Improvements are posted in Orange

Demonstrator: Curriculum and Instruction 1. Effectively communicate to faculty that the A/H Program Review needs documentation of arts-related activities via email, PLC meetings and Faculty meetings. (Tremendous faculty response of arts-related activities both electronically and also hard copy that is currently being scanned into electronic format) Also hardcopies of PLC meetings are available upon request. (2011-2012) **Program Review is now up-to-date and posted on the Visual Arts and Music teacher’s website and will be an ongoing project with all faculty members continuing to send activities relating to the arts to Arts and Humanities teachers to post. (20122013) 2. Funding needed for artist in residence to address dance and drama need for whole grade level core content. (Funding is still needed – dance and drama content for whole grade levels are still a weakness) (2011-2012). **Currently researching grant opportunities with plans for obtaining an artist in residence that will work with all Junior class students for a specified time in dance and/or drama. (2012-2013) 3. Funding needed for Arts-specific field trips. (More Arts-specific field trips have become available this year with Mr. Felts going to musicals, all-state, Mr. Sizemore going to all-state, Mrs. Chandler going to Bluegrass Regional Art Show at Eastern Kentucky University and Taterknob Pottery. ) (20112012) **We have improved in this area, with more arts-specific field trips planned for the 2012-2013 school year. In addition to the above field trips, plans are underway for students to see Broadway Plays as they are available within our viewing area. (20122013) 1

4. Teacher will provide more documentation of peer review activities. (Peer Reviews are being collected after each project, concerts, performances are completed and are presently being scanned into electronic format on each teacher according to disciplines (art, music or choral) program review on School Pointe) (20112012) ** Improvement has been made in this area with teachers collecting and scanning peer review activities from students upon completion of projects/performances, etc., and scanning them onto each individual teacher’s website. (2012-2013) Demonstrator: Formative and Summative Assessment 5. Teachers will provide more scoring guides to evidence. (Scoring Rubrics are presently being scanned into electronic format on each A/H teacher’s program review on School Pointe) (2011-2012) **Improvement has been made in this area with teachers providing more scoring guides. Scoring guides are posted on School Pointe. (2012-2013) Hard Copies are available upon request. 6. Teachers will add more peer critiques and self-reflection to evidence. (self-reflections and peer critiques are being scanned into each A/H teachers program review on School Pointe) **Also an improvement made in this area, with self-reflections and peer critiques being posted on individual teacher’s website under the Program Review Link. This will be an ongoing activity as students complete projects/performances/etc. Hard Copies are available upon request. (2012-2103)

7. Teachers will add more documentation of communication between parent/school/teacher. 2

(Hard copies of parent emails are available upon request for each A/H teacher, also School Pointe teacher web pages are being kept up-dated as to inform students and parents of assignments, and upcoming events) ** Continuing to keep lines of communication open between parents and Arts and Humanities teachers with email, progress reports, report cards, Parent Teacher Conference sign in sheets, activities posted on school sign and on webpage. (20122013) Demonstrator: Administrative/Leadership Support and Monitoring 8. Advisory Committee has been created. (Advisory Committee consists of: Arts and Humanities teachers, Dustin Tuggle-Social Studies, Jessica McGhee – Math, Randy Nantz – English, Carrie Kirby – Science) This is a weakness due to lack of parent participation and time for all committee members to meet) ** Still a weakness – will be working on making this a more working committee. (2012-2013) 9. Discuss with administration options for Dance Core Content activities for whole grade level. (Still a weakness due to funding for Dance Specialist or State Approved Dance Related Activities) ** Still a weakness due to funding but hoping to receive grants that will allow for a Dance and or Drama Artist in Residence to work with an entire grade level of students. (2012-2013) 10. Funding for Arts-Related Field Trips made available. (Funding has been available to take more Arts-Related Field Trips this year: Mr. Felts – All State, and musicals, Mr. Sizemore – All-State and Band Competitions, Mrs. Chandler- Bluegrass Regional Art Show at Eastern Kentucky University and Taterknob Pottery) ** An improvement in this area with students able to attend more arts related field trips as several are currently being planned for the 2012-2013 school year. (2012-2013)

This will be an ongoing project to better enhance the opportunities for Arts students to attend Arts related field trips. (2012-2013)

(District is offering A/H teachers Arts-Related PD to be held in Summer 2012 at Berea.) (2011 – 2012) ** Major strides for improvement have been made in this area. Arts and Humanities teachers are being given more chances to attend Professional Development designed to meet the needs of the Arts and Humanities. (i.e. Mrs. Chandler attending the Learnshop Professional Development this summer in Berea, and all Arts and Humanities teachers being able to visit surrounding schools’ Arts and Humanities departments on September 28, 2012. Art and Foreign Language teachers from SLHS, NLHS, SLMS, and NLMS will be visiting Henry Clay, and Music teachers from each of the schools will be visiting Madison Middle and Madison Central High School.
