The ARTERY EMERGING ARTIST AWARD $1000 prize money Open to young artists aged between 16 and 25 years of age This award is intended to assist aspiring young artists in the furtherance of their artistic endeavours. The award will be judged on participants submitted artwork together with their statement of intent (see conditions).

The MARGARET GUNN ART TROPHY $500 prize money This perpetual trophy is awarded to a quiet achiever in art by the Gunn family. A quiet achiever is an artist who has supported the RAST exhibitions and made a significant contribution to the Tasmanian arts community quietly and without fuss.

THE GEARD FAMILY AWARD $500.00 prize money sponsored by Mr P & Mrs E Geard

This award is for an entry that best depicts a typical Tasmanian agricultural theme. It will be selected from all sections.

All work must be the original work of the exhibitor, be unaided and completed within two years prior to this exhibition. Each artist can exhibit a maximum of 3 works. Only 2D work will be accepted. Only artists aged between 16 and 25 at the 1st October 2016 ,can be eligible for the Artery Emerging Artist Award. Artists wishing to be considered for this section, must submit, with their entry up to 200 word statement outlining their hopes, dreams and goals in an art career. ENTRY FEE: $15 first entry, subsequent entries $10. Fee must accompany entry form and is non-refundable. All work must be suitably framed, ready for hanging, with picture framing wire and D rings. Stretched canvas entries are accepted provided that there are no exposed fastenings. Unsatisfactorily framed work may not be hung. Wet work will not be accepted. Artwork in all Sections shall not exceed 155 cm on any one side. Miniatures in section D, must adhere to a 100square cm size limit. All works must be for sale with a 25% commission to RAST. Exhibitors must complete the entry form and pay the appropriate fee. Part “A” is to be forwarded to RAST, PO Box 94, Glenorchy, 7010 to be received by 30th September Part “B” is to be attached to the top left hand corner on the back of the artwork Although all possible care will be taken RAST, its employees and hanging committee accept no responsibility for any loss, theft or damage to the artwork whilst at the Hobart Showground. Artists are advised to arrange their own insurance. Exhibitors agree to publication of reproductions of their work for publicity purposes for newspapers, magazines, web-based media or television. Entries accepted on the basis that the overall winning entry will be available for display at Artery from the conclusion of the Royal Hobart Show until 4th November 2016 . The artworks are judged by a panel of independent and experienced judges. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Definitions Gift Vouchers – Redeemable for art materials and or picture framing at Artery. OR a print and frame package from Art Poster Prize money - Cheque made out to the prize winner from the sponsor. Delivery Instructions All artwork to be delivered at the artists’ expense to the Grandstand Hall, Hobart Showground, 2 Howard Road, Glenorchy, Tas 7010 on Monday 10th October 2016 between 10.00am and 2.00pm. Collection Instructions Collection of work by exhibitors from the Grandstand Hall on Monday the 24th October 2016 between 10am – 2pm. If artwork is unable to be collected during these times, an alternative time must be arranged with the RAST staff prior to the collection date . Artwork not collected by the end of November 2016 will become the property of RAST. Sold work may be collected by arrangement. Stewardship Artists are encouraged to steward during the show for a few hours. A free entry ticket will be provided. Please indicate your preferred time on your entry form. Artist’s Payments Artists will be paid by cheque from RAST for the sale price of works less 25% commission by the end of November.
