Arizona

Tom O’Halleran (D-1st District)

Tom O’Halleran, the oldest of three children, was raised on a dairy farm. At twenty years old, O’Halleran joined the Chicago police force, where he served as an officer and then a sergeant in a special operations unit. After becoming a member of the Chicago Board of Trade, he opened a small business and served two years on the Board of Directors. When O’Halleran and his wife retired in Arizona, he was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives, where he served three terms. During his time in the House, O’Halleran was the Chairman of the Natural Resources and Agriculture Committee before being elected to the State Senate for one term. During the 2016 campaign, O’Halleran was endorsed by the Blue Dog Coalition and the New Democrat Coalition. Tom O’Halleran and his wife Pat have three children and three grandchildren.

Andy Biggs (R-5th District)

Andy Biggs, who won $10 million in the American Family Sweepstakes, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Asian studies from Brigham Young University. Biggs also earned a Master’s in political science from Arizona State University and his J.D. from the University of Arizona. Biggs is a retired lawyer who was first elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2010. Prior to serving in the state’s highest legislative body, he was a member of the State House of Representatives for eight years. Biggs was elected Senate President in 2012. During his campaign he was endorsed by the Club for Growth. Andy Biggs and his wife Cindy have six children and four grandchildren.

California Ro Khanna (D-17th District) Ro Khanna, the son of Indian immigrants, began his political work while studying in college when he worked on the state Senate campaign of then-unknown community organizer, Barack Obama. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago, he earned his J.D. from Yale University, where he specialized in intellectual property law. Appointed by President Obama as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of Commerce, Khanna led a number of trade missions to increase U.S. exports. Khanna currently serves as a Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Smart Utility Systems, an energy efficiency company, and sits on the California Workforce Development Board, where he served as chair of the Advanced Manufacturing Committee. Additionally, he teaches economics at Stanford University and law at the Santa Clara University School of Law. Ro Khanna and his wife Ritu Ahuja live in Fremont.

Jimmy Panetta (D-20th District) Jimmy Panetta, the son of former CIA Director and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, is the current Deputy District Attorney in Monterey County, where he worked with the Gang Team. He graduated from the University of California at Davis with a Bachelor’s degree in international relations and went on to earn his J.D. degree from Santa Clara University. Panetta began his career as a prosecutor for the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and was appointed by the governor to the California Councils on Criminal and Juvenile Justice. Commissioned as an Intelligence Officer with the United States Naval Reserve, he served with a Special Operations task force that was deployed in Afghanistan. He was also awarded a Bronze Star during this time. Panetta is active on veteran’s issues, serving as a board member of the Veterans Transition Center and was named a Monterey County Veteran of the Year. Jimmy Panetta and his wife Carrie have two daughters, Siri and Gia.

Salud Carbajal (D-24th District) Salud Carbajal, one of eight children, served eight years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, including being on active duty during the Gulf War. Carbajal earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his Master’s degree in Organizational Management from the Fielding University. Prior to being elected to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors in 2004, on which he currently sits, Carbajal held a number of public service positions, including Program Director in the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department. Working to implement a Climate Action Plan for Santa Barbara, he has opposed new offshore drilling on the California Coast. During the 2016 campaign, Carbajal was endorsed by the New Democrat Coalition. Salud Carbajal and his wife Gina have two children.

Nanette Barragán (D-44th District) Nanette Barragán, is the daughter of Mexican immigrants. After graduating from the University of California Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s degree in political science, she earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California. Barragán served as the Executive Director of the Gillian S. Fuller Foundation in addition to working in the Office of Public Liaison at the White House under President Bill Clinton. She also has experience as an attorney in a private practice, where she worked on cases ranging from securities litigation to immigration asylum. Barragán was the first Latina to be elected to the Hermosa Beach City Council. Nanette Barragán is the youngest of eleven children.

Lou Correa (D-46th District)

Lou Correa is an Anaheim native. After attending California State University, Fullerton, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in economics, Correa earned his J.D. and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. Having worked as an investment banker and real estate broker, he was first elected to the California State Assembly in 1998 and served three terms. When Correa was elected to the Orange County Board of Supervisors in 2004, he became the first Democrat on the Board in almost thirty years. After being elected to the State Senate, he instituted operation Kid Prints, which provided free finger printing and child safety packets to local schools and reached over 50,000 Orange County children. During this election, Correa was endorsed by the Blue Dog Coalition and the New Democrat Coalition. Lou Correa and his wife Esther live in Santa Ana with their four children.

D e l a wa r e Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-At Large) Lisa Blunt Rochester becomes the first woman and first person of color to represent Delaware in Congress. She graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor’s degree in international relations and later earned a Master’s in urban affairs and public policy from the University of Delaware. Rochester has a long history of public service in Delaware, having served as the state’s Secretary of Labor, Deputy Secretary of Health and Social Services and State Personnel Director. Additionally, she has served as the CEO of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League and co-wrote a book entitled Thrive: 34 Women, 19 Countries while living in China with her late husband. Lisa Blunt Rochester has two children, Alyssa and Alex.

Florida Matt Gaetz (R-1st District) Matt Gaetz the son of a former President of the Florida Senate, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a J.D. from the College of William and Mary. Gaetz is currently a practicing attorney in Fort Walton Beach. He was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2010 by special election and was subsequently reelected in 2012 and 2014. Gaetz served as the Chairman of the Criminal Justice Subcommittee and is currently Chairman of the Finance and Tax Committee. During the 2016 campaign, Gaetz was endorsed by the Republican Main Street Partnership Matt Gaetz was deemed a “Defender of Liberty” by The American Conservative Union.

Neal Dunn (R-2nd District) Neal Dunn, an Eagle Scout, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Washington & Lee University, where he was honored as a Distinguished Military Graduate. Subsequently, he earned his M.D. from George Washington University Medical School and completed his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. After graduating from medical school, Dunn served ten years in the United States Army. Upon completion of his military service, Dunn opened a urology practice in Panama City. He was named one of America’s Top Surgeons, as well as Bay County’s Public Health Hero by the Florida Department of Health for his service to the surrounding community. Neal Dunn and his wife Leah have three children and three grandsons.

John Rutherford (R-4th District) John Rutherford, the former Chairman of the Florida Sheriff’s Association, earned his Associate’s degree in police administration from Florida Junior College and a Bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Rutherford began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer in the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, ultimately becoming Director of Corrections. He was elected Sheriff of Jacksonville in 2003, where he instituted a number of community policing initiatives, including Jacksonville Journey, and worked with the Department of Children and Families to curb recidivism rates of the mentally ill. John Rutherford and his wife Patricia have two children and six grandchildren.

Al Lawson (D-5th District) Al Lawson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida A&M University, where he was a star basketball player. Upon graduation, he earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Florida State University. Lawson is an insurance agent with Northwestern Mutual Financial, as well as the owner of his own marketing and communications firm. He served eighteen years in the Florida House of Representatives, where he was Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, before being elected to the Florida State Senate in 2000. While in the Senate, Lawson sponsored and passed legislation creating the First Generation Matching Grant scholarship program. For twenty-five years, Lawson has provided nearly $300,000 in scholarships through his Capitol City Classic basketball tournament. Al Lawson and his wife Dr. Delores Brooks, who teaches at Florida A&M University’s School of Nursing, have two children and three grandchildren.

Stephanie Murphy (D-7th District) Stephanie Murphy emigrated from her family’s native Vietnam when she was a young child. Murphy earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the College of William and Mary, and a Master’s in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Upon graduation, she worked as a national security specialist in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense, where she was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service. Currently, Murphy is an executive at Sungate Capital, a business advisory firm, and teaches business and social entrepreneurship at Rollins College. During the 2016 campaign, Murphy was endorsed by the New Democrat Coalition. Stephanie Murphy and her husband Sean live in Winter Park with their two children.

Darren Soto (D-9th District) Darren Soto becomes the first Puerto Rican to represent the state of Florida. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s degree in economics and earned a J.D. from The George Washington University. Soto opened a private law practice where he specialized in commercial and civil rights law. In 2007, he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives where he served three terms before being elected to the Florida State Senate. While in the Senate, Soto served as the Deputy Minority Whip. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Florida Hispanic Legislative Caucus. During the 2016 campaign, Soto was endorsed by the New Democrat Coalition. Darren Soto lives in central Florida with his wife Amanda, a math coach with Orange County Public Schools.

Val Demings (D-10th District) Val Demings is the youngest of seven children and grew up attending segregated schools in Jacksonville. Demings earned her Bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University. She began her professional life as a social worker in Jacksonville, where she worked with foster children before applying to the Orlando Police Department. Demings’ graduated from the police academy as president of her class and earned the Board of Trustees’ Award for Overall Excellence. She served as Commander of Special Operations before being appointed, in 2007, Orlando’s first female Chief of Police. She retired after twenty-seven years of service in 2011. During the 2016 campaign Demings was endorsed by the New Democrat Coalition and the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Val Demings met her husband Jerry while they were both on patrol with the Orlando Police Department; he is currently the Orange County Sheriff.

Charlie Crist (D-13th District) Charlie Crist, former Governor of Florida, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, where he was Vice President of the student body. He received his J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law. Crist worked as the general counsel for Minor League Baseball and as an attorney in private practice before serving several terms in the Florida State Senate as a Republican. He served for two years as Florida Education Commissioner before being elected Attorney General of Florida. In 2006, Crist was elected Governor of Florida and announced he would not seek a second term. After an unsuccessful Senate campaign, where he ran as an Independent, Crist formally changed his party affiliation in December 2012. During the 2016 campaign Crist was endorsed by the New Democrat Coalition. Charlie Crist and his wife Carole live in St. Petersburg.

Brian Mast (R-18th District) Brian Mast joined the U.S. Army after graduating from high school. He served for twelve years, including in the Joint Special Operations Command as a bomb disposal expert, earning the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. While attempting to neutralize an IED during a tour in Afghanistan, Mast was critically injured and lost both legs. During his recovery and rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he provided demolitions expertise to the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Following his retirement from the military, Mast worked as an Explosives Specialist within the Department of Homeland Security. Brian Mast and his wife Brianna have three children.

Francis Rooney (R-19th District)

Francis Rooney, the oldest of six children, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University before receiving his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He has been the Chairman of Rooney Holdings for more than three decades. Rooney was appointed by President George W. Bush to be Ambassador to the Holy See in 2005. After leaving government service, Rooney became CEO of Manhattan Construction Group. He also sits on the Advisory Board of the Panama Canal Authority. Francis Rooney and his wife Kathleen have three children and two grandchildren.

Georgia Drew Ferguson (R-3rd District) Drew Ferguson earned a Bachelor’s degree in dental medicine from the University of Georgia before graduating from the Medical College of Georgia as a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. He founded a successful dentistry practice and became an Adjunct Professor at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Beginning his public service as an Alderman in his hometown of West Point, Georgia, Ferguson also served on community boards including the West Point 2100 Foundation. He was elected Mayor of West Point in 2008. During this campaign Ferguson was endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Drew Ferguson and his wife Elizabeth have four children.

Colleen Hanabusa (D-1st District)

Colleen Hanabusa returns to Congress, having previously served between 2011 and 2014. Hanabusa earned her Bachelor’s degree in economics and sociology from the University of Hawaii, where she also earned a Master’s degree in sociology and a law degree. Hanabusa spent two decades as an attorney, specializing in labor law and environmental protection and preservation. She served in the Hawaii State Senate for over a decade, including as the 11th President of the Hawaii Senate, becoming the first woman to lead either chamber of the legislature. During her time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Hanabusa served on the Armed Services and Natural Resources Committees, including as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs. After leaving Congress, she served on the Board of Directors for Hawaii Gas and the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART). During the 2016 campaign Hanabusa was endorsed by the New Democrat Coalition. Colleen Hanabusa is married to John Souza.

Illinois Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-8th District)

Raja Krishnamoorthi, the son of Indian Immigrants, earned his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton University before graduating with a J.D. with honors from Harvard University School of Law. Upon graduation, Krishnamoorthi clerked for a federal judge in Chicago before joining Kirkland & Ellis LLP, an international law firm. After serving as issues director for Barack Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate campaign, Krishnamoorthi was appointed to serve as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Public Integrity Unit by the Illinois Attorney General. He has previously served as a member of the Illinois Housing Development Authority and as Illinois Deputy Treasurer. Krishnamoorthi currently serves as President of Sivananthan Labs and Episolar, Inc., which develop and sell products in the national security and renewable energy industries. Raja Krishnamoorthi and his wife Priya, a doctor, have three children.

Brad Schneider (D-10th District)

Brad Schneider returns to the U.S. House of Representatives, having served in the 113th Congress. Schneider earned his Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern University. Before graduating from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management with a Master’s in Business Administration, Schneider worked on a kibbutz in Israel. Before entering public service, he served as a management consultant helping family owned businesses with planning and succession management. Additionally, Schneider owned and managed Davis Dann Adler Schneider, LLC, a life insurance firm. While in Congress, he served on the Committee on Foreign Affairs, as well as the Committee on Small Business. Schneider is active with the Jewish United Fund and serves on the board of the American Jewish Committee. During the 2016 campaign, Schneider was endorsed by the Blue Dog Coalition and the New Democrat Coalition. Brad Schneider and his wife Julie live in Deerfield and have two sons.

Indiana Jim Banks (R-3rd District)

Jim Banks, a U.S. Navy Reserve officer, graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in political science before attending Grace College, where he earned his Master’s in Business Administration. Banks, a commercial real estate broker, deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 as a supply corps officer and was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. He is a past president of the Columbia City Rotary Club and has served on the Northeast Indiana Workforce Development Board. First elected to the Indiana State Senate in 2010, Banks serves as the Chairman of the Senate Veteran Affairs and the Military Committee. During the 2016 campaign he was endorsed by the Club for Growth and has received support from the House Freedom Caucus. Jim Banks and his wife Amanda live with their three daughters in Columbia City.

Trey Hollingsworth (R-9th District)

Trey Hollingsworth III is a recent Hoosier, having only moved to this Indiana district from Tennessee last year. Hollingsworth earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After college, he started Hollingsworth Capitol Partners, a company that rehabilitated abandoned warehouses and manufacturing sites. In 2007, the company was named by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. Trey Hollingsworth and his wife Kelly live in Jeffersonville.

Ka n s a s Roger Marshall (R-1st District) Roger Marshall, an OB-GYN, earned his Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Kansas State University before receiving his M.D. from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Marshall conducted his residency in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he earned the Resident Research Award, before moving back to Great Bend, Kansas to open his medical practice. Marshall served seven years in the Army Reserves, rising to the rank of Captain. He was also the Chairman of the Board of Great Bend Regional Hospital. Marshall currently serves as Commissioner of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism and as a board member of Farmer’s Bank and Trust. During this campaign Marshall won the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Roger Marshall and his wife Laina have four children and one grandson.

Ke n t u c k y James Comer (R-1st District) James Comer, who served as President of the Kentucky Future Farmers of America, earned his Bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University. After graduating from college, he bought a 2,300acre farm. Comer served as the President of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce before being elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives, where he served for eleven years and was named National Republican Legislator of the Year in his first term. Comer was elected Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture in 2011 and ran an unsuccessful bid to be Kentucky’s governor in 2014, losing in the Republican primary to now-Governor Matt Bevin. During this campaign Comer won the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. James Comer and his wife T.J. have three children.

Mar yland Anthony Brown (D-4th District) Anthony Brown, the son of immigrants from Jamaica and Switzerland, earned his Bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College. As Harvard did not offer ROTC opportunities while he attended, Brown enrolled in the Army ROTC program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served as a helicopter pilot. After five years of active duty service, Brown earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and continued his military service as a Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Army Reserve. After law school, he clerked with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces before joining the international law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. Brown was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1998 and served four terms. During this time, Brown was deployed to Iraq and earned a Bronze Star for his service. Brown was elected Lieutenant Governor of Maryland in 2006 and reelected in 2010. He was defeated in the 2014 gubernatorial race by current Governor Larry Hogan. During the 2016 campaign Brown was endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Anthony Brown and his wife Karmen live in Prince George’s County with their three children.

Jamie Raskin (D-8th District) Jamie Raskin is the son of progressive activists. Raskin earned his Bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Harvard College and his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. Raskin was elected to the Maryland State Senate in 2006 and has been Majority Whip since 2012. While in the Senate, Raskin has sponsored successful legislation that instituted marriage equality in 2012, abolished the death penalty in 2013, and legalized medical marijuana in 2014. Raskin has taught constitutional law and legislation at American University’s Washington College of Law for the past twenty-five years, and currently serves as the Director of the LL.M. program on law and government. During the 2016 campaign Raskin was endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Jamie Raskin and his wife Sarah, Deputy Secretary of the United States Department of the Treasury and former Governor of the Federal Reserve Board, have three children.

Michigan Jack Bergman (R-1st District) Jack Bergman, a forty-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of West Florida. Upon his graduation from college, Bergman was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserve and served in a number of capacities as a naval aviator, where he flew helicopters, among other aircraft. For his service, Bergman received numerous commendations, including the Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Bergman retired from the military in 2009 at the rank of Lieutenant General. In addition to his military service, he worked as a pilot for Northwest Airlines and founded a medical equipment company. Jack Bergman and his wife Cindy have eight grandchildren.

Paul Mitchell (R-10th District) Paul Mitchell, the oldest of seven children, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. After graduation, Mitchell began a career in workforce training, working for a number of organizations including Chrysler and the State of Michigan. In 1985 he began working at Ross Education as a manager in the division responsible for setting up satellite campuses across the country to assist people in building skills to find employment. Mitchell worked his way up through the company, eventually becoming Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Paul Mitchell and his wife Sherry live with their children in Dryden.

Minnesota Jason Lewis (R-2nd District) Jason Lewis earned his Bachelor’s degree in education and business from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master’s degree in political science from the University of Colorado at Denver. Lewis has worked in radio and broadcasting for over twenty-five years. He hosted a nationally syndicated radio show on KSTP in Minneapolis, as well as a statewide public affairs program on Minnesota Public Television for five years. Lewis is the author of Power Divided is Power Checked: The Argument for States Rights. Jason Lewis and his wife Leigh have two daughters.

N e b r a s ka Don Bacon (R-2nd District) Don Bacon, a retired United States Air Force Brigadier General, earned his Bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Northern Illinois University, where he also gained his commission through Officer’s Training School. Bacon served in the Air Force for more than twenty-nine years, including as the Installation Commander for Ramstein Air Base in Germany. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal and two Bronze Stars. During his time in the military, Bacon earned his two Masters’ degrees, one in national strategy from the National War College and the other in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. After retiring from the Air Force, he served as an aide to U.S. Representative Jeff Fortenberry (RNE). Currently, Bacon is an assistant professor at the University of Bellevue. Don Bacon and his wife Angie have three sons and one daughter.

N eva d a Jacky Rosen (D-3rd District) Jacky Rosen earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. After moving to Las Vegas with her parents, she waitressed at Caesars Palace and was a member of Culinary Workers Union Local 226. Rosen worked as a computer programmer and software designers for companies such as Summa Corporation, Citibank, and Southwest Gas Company. Rosen also previously served as the president of Congregation Ner Tamid, the largest Jewish reform synagogue in the area, where she led the implementation of the largest solar energy project by a nonprofit organization. Jacky Rosen and her husband Larry have one daughter, Miranda, who is attending Princeton University.

Ruben Kihuen (D-4th District) Ruben Kihuen was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and emigrated with his family when he was in elementary school. Kihuen earned his Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He served as the deputy field director for the Nevada Democratic Party and as a student recruiter and academic advisor at the College of Southern Nevada. Additionally, he was a member of the Clark County Community Development Advisory Committee and the North Las Vegas Citizen’s Advisory Committee. Kihuen was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 2006 and served two terms before being elected to the Nevada State Senate, where he is currently the Minority Whip. During the 2016 campaign, Kihuen was endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Ruben Kihuen is the founder of the Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus.

Carol Shea- Porter (D-1st District) Carol Shea-Porter returns to Congress, where she previously served three terms. Shea-Porter earned her Bachelor’s degree in social services and her Master’s in public administration from the University of New Hampshire. Before entering politics, she worked as a social worker and a community college instructor. Shea-Porter was first elected to Congress in 2006 and was reelected in 2008. N ew J e r s ey Josh Gottheimer (D-5th District) Josh Gottheimer, a former Senate Page for Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), earned his Bachelor’s degree in American history from the University of Pennsylvania before attending University of Oxford as a Thurson Fellow and earning his J.D. from Harvard Law School. At the age of twenty-three he was hired as a speechwriter for the Clinton Administration. Gottheimer also worked as the Director of Strategic Communications for Ford Motor Company and the General Manager of Corporate Strategy at Microsoft, in addition to teaching at the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University’s Center for Information Technology Policy. N ew Yo r k Tom Suozzi (D-3rd District) Tom Suozzi earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. After graduation Suozzi worked as an auditor for Arthur Anderson before attending Fordham University School of Law, where he received his J.D. Suozzi clerked for the Chief Judge of the Eastern District and later worked as a litigator for Shearman & Sterling and a senior advisor to the investment banking firm, Lazard. Currently, he is Of Counsel at Harris Beach Public Liability Company. Suozzi served as Mayor of Glen Cove, NY for eight years, becoming the third man in his family to hold the position. He was elected Nassau County Executive in 2001 and served until 2009. Tom Suozzi and his wife Helene have three children.

Adriano Espaillat (D-13th District) Adriano Espaillat was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic before moving to New York. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in political science from Queen’s College. Espaillat worked as the Manhattan Court Services Coordinator for the NYC Criminal Justice Agency, providing pre-trial services for the criminal court system for eight years. He later worked as Director of the Washington Heights Victims Services Community Office and as Director of Project Right Start, an initiative focused on combatting substance abuse by educating the parents of preschoolers. Espaillat was appointed to Governor Mario Cuomo’s Dominican American Advisory Board and served for two years. He was elected to the New York State Assembly in 1996 and served until 2010 when he was elected to the State Senate. Espaillat is the Chairman of the Black, Puerto Rican and Latino Caucus and is Ranking Member of the Senate Housing, Construction, and Community Development Committee. John Faso (R-19th District) John Faso earned his Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, Brockport and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. After graduating from law school, Faso worked in a number of public service positions, including as a staff member for the United States House of Representatives and as Commissioner of the New York State Legislative Bill Drafting Commission. Faso was elected to the New York State Assembly in 1986 and served until 2002. He was also a member of Governor George Pataki’s transition team as Chairman of the Budget Committee. After leaving the legislature he served as a Member of the Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority and is currently a partner at Phelps and Phillips, LLP. During the 2016 campaign, Faso was endorsed by the Republican Main Street Partnership. John Faso and his wife Mary Frances have two children.

Claudia Tenney (R-22nd District) Claudia Tenney, the daughter of a former New York State Supreme Court Justice, earned her Bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati Taft School of Law. Tenney was the sole American employed by the Consulate General of Yugoslavia and worked as an intermediary between ABC Sports and the Yugoslavian government in the lead up to the 1984 Winter Olympics. In 1997, she founded Tenney Media Group and served as its publisher and corporate counsel. She maintains a private law practice and previously was a partner at Groben, Gilroy, Oster, and Saunders. Tenney served as co-host of “Common Cents,” a weekly radio program, before becoming the co-host of radio show “First Look” in 2010. She was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2010. Claudia Tenney has one son, Trey, who was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 2013.

Nor th Carolina Ted Budd (R-13th District) Tedd Budd was raised on a cattle and commercial chicken farm. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University. Budd holds two Master’s degrees, one in educational leadership from Dallas Seminary and the other in business administration from Wake Forest University. He worked at the family facility-services business, The Budd Group, which was named one of the Triad Business Journal’s fastest growing privately held companies. Budd is currently the owner of ProShots, a shooting sports retail space, training center, and indoor range. During the 2016 campaign, Budd was endorsed by The Club for Growth. Ted Budd and his wife Amy Kate, whom he met on a mission trip in the former Soviet Union, have three children and live on the same family farm where he grew up.

Pe n n s y l va n i a Dwight Evans (D-2nd District) Dwight Evans eearned her Bachelor’s degree from La Salle University and began teaching in the Philadelphia Public School System and helped start the West Oak Lane Charter School. He also worked as an employment counselor for the Urban League of Philadelphia. Evans was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1980 and made history by becoming the first AfricanAmerican Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Dwight Evans currently sits on the board of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and Co-Chairs the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Hunger Partnership.

Brian Fitzpatrick (R-8th District) Brian Fitzpatrick, whose brother currently represents the 8th District in Congress, earned his Bachelor’s degree from LaSalle University and his Master’s in Business Administration from The Pennsylvania State University before graduating with his J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law for The Pennsylvania State University. Fitzpatrick worked as an FBI Special Agent for over a decade, where he served as the National Director for the FBI’s Campaign Finance and Election Crimes Enforcement Program, as well as national supervisor for the FBI’s Political Corruption Unit. Fitzpatrick also worked as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. During the 2016 campaign, Fitzpatrick was endorsed by the Republican Main Street Partnership and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Brian Fitzpatrick was an inaugural recipient of the FBI Director’s Leadership Award in 2015.

Lloyd Smucker (R-16th District) Lloyd Smucker served as president of the Smucker Company, the familyowned commercial construction firm, for twenty-five years. His public service career when he was elected to the West Lampeter Township Planning Commission, where he served two terms as the township supervisor. Smucker was elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 2008. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Education Committee after previously serving as the Chairman of the intergovernmental Operations Committee. Smucker is also a member of the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board. During the 2016 campaign, Smucker was endorsed by the Republican Main Street Partnership. Lloyd Smucker and his wife Cynthia have three children.

Te n n e s s e e David Kustoff (R-8th District) David Kustoff earned his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Memphis before attending the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he earned his J.D. Kustoff opened a law practice with a college friend, Jim Strickland, who was elected Mayor of Memphis in 2015. Having served as Chairman of the Republican Party of Shelby County, he chaired George W. Bush’s presidential campaigns in the state. In 2006, Kustoff was appointed the U.S. Attorney for the western District of Tennessee by President Bush before returning to private practice in 2008. Texa s Vicente Gonzalez (D-15th District) Vicente Gonzalez was raised in a military family. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University before receiving his J.D from Texas A&M School of Law. After law school, Gonzalez founded his practice, the law Offices of V. Gonzalez and Associates and continued his training at Harvard University School of Law. During the 2016 campaign, Gonzalez was endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Gonzalez and his wife Lorena live in McAllen.

Jodey Arrington (R-19th District) Jodey Arrington earned his Bachelor’s degree in political science and his Master’s degree in public administration from Texas Tech University. Arrington was hired by then-Texas Governor George W. Bush to serve as his appointments manager in 1996. He made the transition to the White House with Bush and served as Special Assistant to the President and Associate Director of Presidential Personnel. Arrington left the White House to serve as Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). After the much-maligned FEMA response to Hurricane Katrina, President Bush created the Office of the Federal Coordinator for Gulf Coast Rebuilding, and Arrington served as its Chief Operating Officer. After leaving the government, he served as Vice Chancellor for Research and Commercialization at the Texas Tech University System and as president of Scott Laboratories. Jodey Arrington lives in Lubbock with his wife and three children.

Virginia Scott Taylor (R-2nd District) Scott Taylor joined the United States Navy directly after high school, eventually completing BUD/S training and being assigned to SEAL Team 4. During his time as a SEAL, Taylor earned his Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Harvard University’s Extension School. He also earned a Master’s Certificate in Government Contracting from Old Dominion University. After leaving the Navy, Taylor became a real estate broker and worked as a security and asset protection consultant for multinational companies. He was elected to the Commonwealth of Virginia House of Delegates in 2014. During the 2016 campaign, Taylor was endorsed by the Republican Main Street Partnership. Scott Taylor lives in Virginia Beach.

Donald McEachin (D-4th District) Donald McEachin was born in Nuremberg, Germany while his father was stationed there with the U.S. Army. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in political history from The American University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University. After law school McEachin began to practice law, eventually going on to become a partner in his own firm. He was first elected to serve in the Virginia House of Delegates in 1996 and served four terms. In 2008 McEachin was elected to the Virginia State Senate, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus. Donald McEachin and his wife Colette have three children.

After law school, Garrett enlisted in the United States Army, where he served six years as a combat arms officer, including a deployment in Bosnia during Operating Joint Endeavor. After leaving the army he served as an Assistant Attorney General before being elected Commonwealth’s Attorney for Louisa County. Garrett was elected to the Virginia State Senate in 2011. Wa s h i n g t o n Pramila Jaypal (D-7th District) Pramila Jaypal was born in India and raised in Singapore and Indonesia before coming to the United States to attend college. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from Georgetown University and her Master’s in Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School. Jayapal worked as a financial analyst on Wall Street. After the events of September 11 she founded Hate Free Zone, which later became OneAmerica, the largest immigrant and refugee advocacy organization in Washington State. In 2013, Jayapal was recognized as a White House “Champion of Change” for her work. Jayapal was elected to the Washington State Senate in 2014. During the 2016 campaign, Jayapal was endorsed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Pramila Jayapal lives with her husband Steve Williamson in Seattle; she has one son and one step-son.

Wisconsin Mike Gallagher (R-8th District) Mike Gallagher earned his Bachelor’s degree in Near Eastern Studies and Arabic from Princeton University. He holds two Master’s degrees, one in Security Studies from Georgetown University and the other in Strategic Intelligence from National Intelligence University; additionally, he earned his Ph.D. in International Relations from Georgetown University. Gallagher enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was on active duty for seven years, including two deployments in Iraq. He served on General Petraeus’ Central Command Assessment Team, as well as for the National Counterterrorism Center and the Drug Enforcement Agency. Additionally, Gallagher served as a staffer on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee focusing on the Middle East, North Africa and Counterterrorism. Gallagher currently works as the senior global market strategist for Breakthrough Fuel. Mike Gallagher lives in Green Bay.

Wyo m i n g Liz Cheney (At-Large) Liz Cheney is the eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Colorado College and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. Cheney worked for the U.S. Department of State, including as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and the U.S. Agency for International Development, where she was in officer in the U.S. embassies in Budapest and Warsaw. As an attorney, she practiced at the law firm of White & Case, as well as an international law attorney at the International Finance Corporation. In 2009, Cheney launched Keep America Safe, a 501(c)(4) non-profit that focused on national security issues. She has also worked as a Fox News contributor. Liz Cheney lives with her husband Philip Perry and their five children in Wilson.
