APPROVED SPECIAL PROCESSOR LIST 1.0

PURPOSE This document defines special processes and the suppliers permitted to perform those processes to customer or industry specifications.

SCOPE This document shall be used to identify special processors permitted to perform processes on any product supplied to Whippany Actuation Systems LLC.

3.0

DEFINITIONS & ACRONYMS 

CP - NADCAP code for ‘Chemical Processing’ which includes: Anodizing, Chemical Cleaning, Chemical Milling, Conversion / Phosphate Coatings, Paint / Dry Film Coatings, Plating, Stripping, Surface Treatment / Passivation, and Etching.



HT - NADCAP code for ‘Heat Treating’ which includes: Metal systems, Heat Treating Processes, Heat Treating Equipment, Brazing, and Hot Forming.



NADCAP accredited supplier - any supplier that maintains an active certification for a NADCAP accredited process. Any cancellation, suspension or termination of the NADCAP accreditation will render the supplier’s processes subject to the approval by the Whippany Actuation Systems LLCPQE or Quality Leader



NDT - NADCAP code for ‘Non-Destructive Testing’ which includes: Liquid Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing.



NMSE - NADCAP code for ‘Nonconventional Machining and Surface Enhancement’ which includes: Electrochemical Machining, Electrochemical Grinding, Electrical Discharge Machining, Laser Beam Machining, Shot Peening.



PQE - Whippany Actuation Systems LLC Product Quality Engineer



Special process - Any process listed on the NADCAP special processes website (http://www.prinetwork.org/Special-Processes.id.858.htm) under the following NADCAP categories: chemical processing (CP), coatings, heat treating (HT), non-destructive testing (NDT) and Non-conventional machining &Surface Enhancement (NMSE).

INSTRUCTION Suppliers/sub-tier may use any NADCAP accredited special processor provided the supplier maintains a current NADCAP accreditation for the processes performed on Whippany Actuation Systems LLC product. These processors must be on the supplier/sub-tier ASL. Prior to performing a special process, suppliers shall validate the current revision of the Whippany Actuation Systems LLC ASPL. Any supplier without current NADCAP accreditation for the special process to be performed must be listed in the Whippany Actuation Systems LLC ASPL. This document is uncontrolled when printed. Any deviation to the Whippany Actuation Systems LLC ASPL must be approved in writing via the processes referenced in the Quality Flow down document listed on the PO. Any limitations to the vendor under specific categories are listed in ‘red’ font. Red font indications the only processes that can be performed by the vendor. When the drawing calls out a prime contractor’s special process specification, the supplier shall only use a special processor from that prime contractor’s approved special processor listing (ASPL). For example, when a drawing references Boeing process spec BAC 5423, the supplier shall only subcontract to a processor on the Boeing D1-4426. When the Whippany Actuation Systems LLC purchase order and/or SQAR requires the use of a prime contractor’s ASPL, this requirement applies whether the drawing calls out a prime contractor’s spec (e.g. Boeing BAC 5423) or an industry spec (e.g. MIL-DTL-5541, AMS 2700, ASTM-E-1417, etc.) Processes not covered by NADCAP accreditation are listed in this ASPL along with approved vendors to perform such processes. All outside processors used by Whippany Actuation Systems LLC are approved and maintained in accordance with procedure 7.4-001. Any outside processor not listed in this ASPL may not have direct POs placed with that vendor until a deviation or revision to the ASPL has been performed.
