Engineers Australia accepts applications for membership subscription concessions from individuals who are earning lower incomes for a variety of reasons. The new online application function provides our current and prospective members with a quick, easy and very user friendly way to request a concession.

Applying for a Membership Subscription Concession

Log into the Engineers Australia (EA) customer portal using your Engineers Australia ID Number and online password https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/portal/user/login?destination=concessions/. This will take you to the co On the landing page, click the “Request” button to open the concession request form.

In the “Concession Type” drop-down box, choose the type of concession you are applying for. The following concession types are available: Retired – for applicants who are aged 55 or older, have been a member of Engineers Australia for the last five years and have retired from full-time engineering work. You can earn up to $40,000 p/a from part-time work and still be eligible for this concession type; Full-Time Post Graduate Study – for applicants who are currently enrolled in a full-time, post graduate course of study which relates directly to their engineering competency; and Temporary Financial Exigency – for applicants who are currently experiencing financial hardship due to unemployment, ill health, parental obligation etc (Please note that concessions for Temporary Financial Exigency can generally only be granted for a total of three (3) consecutive membership years).

Applying for a Temporary Financial Exigency concession If you are applying for a Temporary Financial Exigency concession, a “Category” drop-down box will appear when you select this concession type. In the “Category” drop-down box, select the category of concession you are applying for: 1) Unemployed; 2) Parental Leave; 3) Financial Difficulties; and 4) Other. Select the relevant year for your concession application by choosing the relevant Concession Year radio button. You may only select one Concession Year per application. This is either the current or next financial year. In the “Your Circumstances” text-box, please provide a brief explanation as to why you are applying for a membership subscription concession. This explanation should provide enough detail to allow us to assess your application against the eligibility requirements specified in point 3 above. Supporting evidence is not compulsory but is preferred for all Temporary Financial Exigency Concession applications. Please scan your supporting evidence documents and upload them by clicking on the “Choose file” button in the “Supporting Evidence” section. Evidence could consist of health care card or letter of redundancy or similar.

Applying for a Full-Time Post Graduate Study concession If you are applying for a Full-Time Graduate concession you will be presented with the following screen. Select the relevant year for your concession application by choosing the relevant Concession Year radio button. You may only select one Concession Year per application. This is either the current or next financial year. Supporting evidence is required for all Post Graduate Concession applications and Please scan your supporting evidence documents and upload them by clicking on the “Choose file” button in the “Supporting Evidence” section. The following documents are examples of acceptable supporting evidence: Student ID card; Post graduate enrolment statement; Letter of redundancy from former employer; Other documents which support your claim for a membership subscription concession.

Applying for a Retired concession If you are applying for a Retired concession no evidence is required. Simply select retired from the dropdown list.

All applications continued: Carefully read the Terms and Conditions at the foot of the application. If you agree with these Terms and Conditions, click on the tick box and then press the “Submit” button. If you do not agree to the Terms and Conditions, click on the “Cancel” link. Please note that we cannot accept or process a concession application if you do not agree to the Terms and Conditions.

If your application has been successfully submitted, you will be taken to the “Confirmation” screen where your unique application reference number will be displayed. Please write this number down for future reference.

Click the “Go to My Concessions page” button. This will return you to your Concessions landing page.
