MAP GRANT FUNDING OBJECTIVE: 

Golf Courses and Clubs registered with Golf Saskatchewan are eligible to apply for funding through the Membership Assistance Program (MAP). The MAP Grant funding allows Golf Saskatchewan to support our members by providing direct financial assistance to benefit sport development at the club and community levels. MAP is funded by the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund through the proceeds of lottery ticket sales in Saskatchewan.

ELIGIBILITY:    

Registered Golf Clubs who have submitted all of the necessary membership fees and are in good standing with the Association are eligible to apply for MAP grants each year. Have no outstanding MAP grant follow-up reports from previous grants received. Contribute a minimum of 25% of self-help funding toward projects approved through MAP. If a Golf Club receives MAP GRANT Funding in a calendar year and becomes Not in Good Standing, the MAP GRANT Funds must be returned by November 15th of the application year.

PROJECTS:  

Member Clubs may apply for one grant per year but may apply for multiple projects on one grant application. The amount of funds requested for your project(s) will be contingent on the total amount of funds available.

PROJECT EXAMPLES (clubs can apply for multiple projects): Level 1 Projects are priority and will be approved first:  Attending Golf Saskatchewan’s Annual General Meeting – mileage expenses are eligible for funding if attending & participating in the AGM.









Junior Golf Promotion/Initiatives o Purchase of National Golf In Schools kit for an elementary school in the community (kit and resource valued at $475.00) o Purchase of National Golf In High Schools kit for a High School in the community (kit and resource valued at $795.00) o Expenses associated with sending Junior Team(s) from your club to Golf Saskatchewan’s Provincials (entry fee, team shirts, team hats, golf bags, meals, hotel) o Expenses for sending the club’s Junior Coordinator to the Future Links Leaders Course o Expenses associated with starting a Junior program (shuttle to golf course, hats, shirts, range fees, green fees, purchase of rental clubs) Women’s Golf Promotion/Initiatives o Expenses related to hosting a Golf Fore the Cure event o Sending a Women’s Team from your club to Golf Saskatchewan’s Provincials (entry fee, team shirts, team hats, golf bags) o Expenses related to hosting a women’s golf day for members and non-members Handicap Seminars & Rules Clinics o Clubs hosting a handicap seminar or rules clinic for their members can apply to help cover the cost of the clinic. o Purchasing Rule Books, Decision Books, Quick Reference to the Rules Books, Etiquette to the Rules Books, Handicap Books for members o Sending someone to be certified at a Golf Saskatchewan Handicap Seminar  May 24, 2015 – Saskatoon & Regina Seminars Spring/Summer/Fall /Winter Golf Programs – clubs hosting a player clinic for juniors, women or men to help develop golf skills o Expenses for hiring PGA of SK Golf Professional

 



o Purchase of golf instruction DVD’s or programs Course Management Consultation Services o Marketing, Creating a Business Plan, Creating a Policies and Procedures Manual, How to Attract Sponsors, How to Start a Junior/Women’s Program, How to Create a Budget, etc. Advertising o Clubs wishing to advertise in Golf Saskatchewan publications (magazine and newsletter) o Advertising costs for an eligible project (local newspaper, radio, etc.) o Expenses related to sending a mail-out to your members (postage, printing) Target Group Initiatives - communities initiating golf programs that encourage and provide golf opportunities for more females, First Nation and Aboriginal athletes, Northern communities, and economically disadvantaged

Level 2 Projects are secondary and may be approved if funds are available:  Posting Rounds of Golf to Golf Canada Score Centre o Expenses for High Speed Internet Line or air-card in the Clubhouse o Monthly Internet rental expenses o Computer system upgrade including printer expenses  Emergency Training o Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and/or AED Training o First Aid/CPR training  Health Consultation Services (stretching, strength & conditioning, yoga, nutrition, etc.) o Instructor expenses o Sports Medicine and Science Council seminars o Equipment expenses o Rental expenses o Advertising expenses  Golf Course Maintenance Essential to Operations (*only for courses that cannot operate without fixing/replacing these items) o Replacement of a mower essential to course maintenance, parts for a mower or lease of a mower o Purchase of an irrigation system or parts to fix o Costs associated with flooding – pumping expenses  Purchasing a Record Board to put up at Golf Course o Course Records, Life Members, Past Board Members, Course History, Club Founding Date sign, etc.  Purchase of Golf Saskatchewan Promotional Items for Give-Aways/Club Events o Shirts, Discs, Water Bottles, Toques, Pins, Ball Markers Ineligible projects:  Capital Projects - such as upgrading, maintenance to course, or (luxury) equipment purchases  Debt repayment  Wage payments for staff  Cash Prizes or Social Events (with alcohol) If you are not sure if your project meets the criteria, please contact our office.

SELF HELP 

Member Clubs are required to find other sources of funding equal to a minimum contribution of 25% of the grant money for which they apply. This percentage could be made up of other fundraising, sponsorships, and in-kind donations. Thus, for a MAP grant of $500, the total budget would have to be $625 with actual expenses totaling $625. Self help funding would be equal to $125.

FOLLOW UP REPORT: Follow Up Report Form must include:  Detailed report including the results of the project (good or bad), will the program be continued and/or any improvements that could be implemented.  The report must be signed & dated by the president or treasurer of the member club/organization.  Receipts verifying expenditures should include: o Indicate name of recipient (person or business) of the funds. o Describe goods or services provided for payment o Disclose the amount of payment. o Include the date that the goods/services were purchased (must be within the current fiscal year). o Include third party verification (supplier logo on an invoice, signature of the recipient on an expense claim form, and if there is no other backup documentation, a copy of the cheque with the bank clearing stamp on the back.)

REPORTING AND PAYMENT SCHEDULES:   

By midnight on June 15th, your club/course must submit payment for the current years’ membership. After payment has been received, 75% of the funds will be paid out upon approval of the project(s) submitted. By midnight on September 15th, a Follow-Up Report must be submitted. The form will be supplied with your letter of notification. The balance amount will be paid once Golf Saskatchewan has received the Follow-Up Report on the form provided, accompanied by copies of receipts for all eligible listed expenses.

NON-COMPLIANCE CLAUSE: 

By November 15th, all MAP Grant funds the club has received in the current year must be returned to Golf Saskatchewan if the following conditions are not met: o All eligible receipts for expenses must be submitted with the Follow-Up Report, o A copy of the Member Club’s finalized membership list for the current year must be submitted, o A signed Membership Declaration Form for the current year must be submitted, and o Golf Saskatchewan membership remittance fees must be paid in full for the current year.

SUBMISSION:      

May 31st: Deadline for submission of the Project Spending Plan Application June 15th: Deadline for submission of your club/course’s payment for the current years’ membership. August 15th: Deadline for submission of your final club membership list and Membership Declaration Form. September 15th: Deadline for MAP Grant Follow Up Report(s). Submission by email is preferred, but submission by fax or mail is also accepted. Late or incomplete applications may not be accepted.
