President’s Award Scholarship – applicable towards tuition for any major at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. A $3,000 award is presented to the winner in each of the following categories: • Academic Excellence • Community Service • Improvement in Academic Performance • Leadership

“President’s Award” scholarships recognize high school seniors who have achieved significant results in one or more of the following categories. Students may select from the following categories & may enter all categories that apply. Please follow the specific requirements for each category. A. Academic Excellence 1. Maintain at least an overall “B” average or equivalent from 9th through 12th grades. 2. Recommendation: from a teacher or guidance counselor. 3. Typed essay of 350+ words on the topic, “Personal characteristics that have contributed to my success in high school and how those characteristics will contribute to my future success.” 4. Copy of high school transcript.

B. Community Service 1. Logged at least 100 hours of community service work within the past year through school, religious or civic organizations. (Letter of Verification must be submitted) 2. Recommendation: from the advisor of the organization. 3. Typed essay of 350+ words on the topic, “How my service experience has affected my future career goals.” 4. Copy of high school transcript.

General Information: If the candidate meets the criteria in more than one of these categories, he/she may include documentation for the additional category in their scholarship application packet and check off all categories under which they are applying. Essays should have a heading for the category for which they were written. All scholarships are awarded on merit. Students will receive 1/2 of the scholarship award for the first academic year and will receive the second 1/2 for the second academic year provided they maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.

C. Improvement in Academic Performance 1. Demonstrated a significant improvement in their academic performance during the past two years of high school and must currently be maintaining an overall “B” average or equivalent. 2. Recommendation: from a teacher or guidance counselor. 3. Typed essay of 350+ words on the topic, “An event that proved to be the turning point in my academic performance.” 4. Copy of high school transcript.

D. Leadership 1. Held a leadership position in school, civic or religious organization. (Provide written verification) 2. Recommendation: from the advisor to the organization. 3. Typed essay of 350+ words on the topic, “How my leadership experience will contribute to my academic performance.” 4. Copy of high school transcript.

School of Management Scholarship – $3,000, $2,400, $1,800 applicable towards tuition for either Hotel or Restaurant Management majors at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. The three awards are presented to students intending to pursue a management career in the hospitality industry.

Scholarship candidate requirements are as follows: 1. Must have G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher. 2. Typed essay of 350+ words on the topic, “My career objective and how it will contribute to the future of the hospitality field.” 3. Although hospitality industry work experience is not a requirement for this scholarship, additional consideration will be placed upon those candidates who possess industry-related work experience. 4. Copy of high school transcript. 5. Recommendation: from a teacher or guidance counselor.

All scholarships awarded must be used within six months of the student’s high school graduation date. The High School Achievement Scholarship is awarded to those students who meet the following criteria: • Graduating in June, 2015 • Attain a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher. • Earn a combined SAT score of 900 (CR+M) or above. Students receive a $1,200 scholarship that will be applied towards tuition.

A D D I T I O N A L SkillsUSA: SkillsUSA has more than a quarter million student members annually, organized into 13,000 chapters and 54 state and territorial associations. SkillsUSA provides educational experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. SkillsUSA programs include local, state and national competitions. Early Admission

The current tuition is $19,650 per academic year. Early admission applicants pay $19,050 per academic year, resulting in a savings of $1,200 for the Associate degree program. Students apply for early admission by completing all application requirements and submitting a $1,000 deposit, by January 31, 2016. The deposit is refundable should the student withdraw the application prior to August 31, 2016.

PA DECA Scholarship

The PA DECA student organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools throughout Pennsylvania. Students who receive top scores as a result of participation in the PA DECA State Leadership Competition are eligible for scholarship consideration in the categories listed.

There are three winners in the categories of Restaurant & Food Service Management, Quick Serve Restaurant Management, and Hospitality Services Team Management. 1st place $3,000 2nd place $1,800 3rd place $1,200
