APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING BACKGROUND The JNBS Foundation was established in 1990 as the charitable arm of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS). Our mandate is to manage and execute the philanthropic efforts of the Society, and contribute to the developmental needs of Jamaica. Built on the concept of mutuality, JNBS gives back to the Jamaican people and communities across the island, by providing financial and technical support to empower projects and programmes both at the community and at the national level. MISSION The JN Foundation works with internal and external partners to identify, develop and provide technical and financial support to projects and programmes that focus on issues relating to rural development, health, housing, education, youth and community and crime and safety. VALUES The Foundation represents the main arm of the JN Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Through the strategic support of projects and programmes that contribute to national development, working at the community and national levels, the Foundation is able to impact on the Jamaican landscape in a positive and sustainable way. GUIDELINES
The following guidelines should be used when considering an application to the JN Foundation: 1. Foundation Goals: Projects must fit within the Foundation’s main themes: - Rural Development and regeneration - Health - Housing - Education - Youth and Community - Crime and Safety 2. In general, if we fund operational phases of established programmes; capital requests for purchase; furnishing of facilities; equipment purchase; conferences; films, television, or radio programmes; endowments; development campaigns; or research, we typically do so as part of a broader programming/funding effort. 3. We do not provide grants for budget line items labeled as “indirect, miscellaneous or overhead costs.” 4. The Foundation does not fund individuals except those applying for the HA Tony Clarke Scholarship Programme 5. Sustainability of Project: The grantee, community, or other beneficiary must demonstrate the potential to continue the funded work in a self‐renewing manner after Foundation funding has ended.
