G H (British School), 1857 - Evening Prayer, oil on canvas painting, mother seated on a bed with her children, one of whom is saying their prayers, signed with artists monogram and dated '57 to lower left corner, mounted in a gilt frame with exhibition label verso reading 'Walsall Exhibition Art and Industry 1867, 26" x 22" Catalogue Note: - The Walsall Exhibition of Fine Arts and Industry was held in the Temperance Hall and Annexes on the 5th August 1867 and lasted until the end of September that year. It was an exhibition of pieces exhibited by the inhabitants of Walsall and its surrounds. Some of who were the artists who produced the work, but most were only the owners of the exhibits. Listed as number 172 is a picture entitled as 'Evening Prayer', the only exhibit whose description in the catalogue that could describe our lot. A WW2 Distinguished Flying Cross five medal campaign group awarded to F/O A B Anger DFC, comprising the DFC in original issue case with Buckingham Palace headed letter, the medal engraved 1945 with ribbon, the Air Crew Europe Star, 1939-45 Star with France and Germany bar and ribbons, The Defence Medal and 1939-45 medal with card box, along with F/O AB Anger's log book, Officers medical record card and 51 bomber squadron embroidered badge. Catalogue Note: Pilot Officer Arthur Bernard Anger service in the RAF began with 1658 Con unit in Riccall Yorkshire on 1.1.1943 as a flight engineer, with the last entry in the log book on 26.11.1947.
