ANNUAL REPORT MSTA VISION & MISSION

MISSION To provide quality systematic teaching, produce and raise the standard of swimming teachers in Malaysia. To promote prevention of drowning through safety awareness at all times VISION Imparting Swimming Skills and Water safety to Everyone

COUNCIL MEMBERS 2014/2015 THE COUNCIL MEMBERS President WEE CHYE GHEE IFSTA,Tutor (Gold) Grade 1 Examiner of the Life Saving Society of Malaysia

A vast experience in the aquatics- swimming , Diving, water polo and Lifesaving, He represented the country in many areas from a judge to a technical delegate and as national swimming coach of Malaysian Schools Sports Council at the International Schools Asian Schools Invitation swimming Championships in Hong Kong 1977,Swimming referee for 9th SEA Games 1977 & SEA Age Group 1979. Attended various swimming courses conducted by International persons David McJunkin(1970),Ms. Komidori(1972),Don Gambril(1977). In 2002,he presented a paper at the 6th International Federation of Swimming Teachers’ Association Conference. He was appointed examiner and as representative in Malaysia for International Federation of Swimming Teachers’ Association. He played an active role in the Life Saving of Malaysia, was organizing secretary for 28th National Life Saving Competition (1993) and 31st National Life Saving competition (1997) Vice president WONG TONG POH MBA Sport Management, Diploma Fitness & Nutrition, ICS Glasgow Level lll National Sport Science Certificate, Level lll National Coaching Certificate Examiner Royal National Life-saving society. STA Swimming Teachers’ Certificate 1.Swimming assignments : Ex-National swim coach-Busan Asian Games, Sea Games Jakarta,Manila, Sea Age-group Taiwan,Philippines,Singapore and KL. Coaching Disability, Level 3 Life Saving Instructor Certificate (LSSM) Technical Official Certificate Level 3 An experience and passionate swimming teacher and coach to infants to adults, individual and group teaching. She has extensive years specializing in coaching special needs to children and adults. Competent in both learn to swim and competitive coaching. Design programs according to the individual needs. She has pursued further in knowledge from other International bodies and obtained various International swimming teaching and coaching certification. From 2006 to 2010, was appointed Malaysian National Head Coach for the Paralympics’ Swimming Team. The National Paralympics athletes successfully improve their personal best times, participated in the international competitions such as the Beijing Paralympics, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Asian and Asean Games 2010 .Qualifying events for the London Paralympics in 2012. She attended various conferences 1st FINA World Swimming Coaches Conference (2009), IPC Swimming Functional Classification System Course(2009),International Federation Swimming Teachers Conference(2014)and SEA Swimming Coaches Conference(2015). Held various position as Committee member for Selangor Triathlon Association (2008), Treasurer for Lifesaving Society of Selangor (2004-2006)and Technical Chairman for Selangor Amateur Swimming Association PRAS(2010).

Hon. Assistant Secretary WONG FUI YING STA Swimming Teachers ’Certificate Lifesaving Instructor Certificate (LSSM) An experience swimming teacher since year 2000, Owner of Sixstar Swimming School, Tambunan Golf Club at Beverly Hill, Sabah. She conducts swim classes for children of all ages and provides lifesaving courses. Hon. Treasurer YIP SOU MING City and Guilds of London Institute Electrical Engineering An engineer by profession, Technical Director of Green G Gravity Sdn. Bhd. He has good knowledge in Information Technology and is contributing in IT related matters He also has a vast experience in accounting. A sports person during his younger days represented South Perak in badminton playing singles and doubles for state tournaments and participated 4x100 relay team in district level. He swims regularly to keep fit. Members by Constitution GORDON ROBSON IFSTA A certified swimming teacher and physical trainer with many years of experience since 1960, hold the swimming certificate from the International Federation Swimming Teachers certificate. He trained the Genting Highlands hotel swim team for the Inter- Hotel Swimming Competition in 1975.He is also a qualified coach and judge in body building. He loves adventure and is an active sport person with wide experience with competitions from 24 hr Big Walk to Marathon, swimming pools to channel swims, gym training to body building. He holds many titles under his belt- he won Mr Perak Master 1987, 1991 &1992.In 2007, represented Perak in Mr. Malaysia in Sabah. At the age of 70yrs, he was champion Mr. Kinta Perak 2010.Competed in the 1st Channel Swim 1957 in Penang .As a dare- devil he raced at Johor Grand prix 1968,Selangor & Johor Grand Prix 1975 took 3rd place,the Motor

Cycle Grand Prix in Singapore in 1969 taking 2nd place and subsequently raced in 1970 winning the 1st. JEFFREY TAN STA Swimming Teachers ’Certificate Grade lll National Coaching Certificate Grade l National Sport Science Certificate Swimming Coaching Level 2 FINA Certified Lifesaving Instructor

He is the founder and managing director for Beaver Swimming Academy Sdn. Bhd, I.S.O certified. Experience in swimming teaching and coaching, successfully trained the first Johor female swimmer to become Malaysia National Swimmer. He received Coaching Achievement & Contribution Award from Johor Ministry of Education for 2007 – 2009. In 2009, was appointed by the Malaysia Ministry of Education & Sports Council as the Facilitator for Swimming Instructor Course. From 2008 till 2012, was appointed as the Coach for SUKMA Johor Team. From 2013 to 2014, he was appointed as the Head Coach for SUKMA Johor Team. In 2013 till 2015, he was appointed as the Committee for Persatuan Renang Amateur Johor. In 2015, he was honoured with Dato’ship from Pahang and his Academy was awarded with the Entrepreneur Year Award.
