2013 Board of Directors –Update
• Stepping down: Milka Brajovic, Des O’Callaghan • 2 Board positions up for election • No candidates have come forward at this time • Two vacant Board positions remaining (seeking volunteers) • Board Director positions/portfolios (including President and Vice-President) to be determined at next face to face Board of Directors – to be scheduled
Communications • DRIE Digest: – Always looking for good, original content • Submissions welcome any time (
[email protected]) • Article writing is good for your resume and for CPD credit • Looking at an Editor succession plan in 2014 • Broadcast e-mail blasts – Irregular frequency – needs driven – does that work? – If too much / too little or too long – would like your feedback • Web site – In process now of gearing up a new resource to manage content updates in more timely and efficient fashion – Please be sure to update your individual member profile (especially when your e-mail address (work or preferred) changes General Feedback:

Marketing – John Theofilaktidis • Focus on identifying ways to add value for our members • Work with Program and Communications committees to deliver consistent message • Create new ideas for promoting DRIE. • Monitor social media. • Work with Board to develop promotional material. • Communicate Internally and support other committees such as Membership, Sponsorship and Communications • Identify a strategy to promote the DRIE Brand, set a plan and execute • Work with Sponsorship to help Sponsors understand the ROI • Support DRIE events such as WCDM, BCAW and Scholarship
DRIE Chapters – Suzanne Bernier • A Cross-Chapter meeting is held every 6 weeks via teleconference • A former member chapter has recently re-joined the Cross Chapter meetings: DRIE Central – welcome back! Current Chapters:

Special Projects – Ann Wyganowski • WDCM – mentoring sessions, ambassadors program, awards night • Greater Toronto Security Partners Forum (GTASPF) – collaborating across multiple organizations to gain discounts and benefits for numerous industry related conferences, educational events • GTIME: – Currently working with City on integrating BCM to already scheduled exercises in preparation for PanAm Games (rather than a separate GTIME); – Anticipate GTIME educational sessions for DRIE members; – GTIME volunteers and participants list currently being updated

2012/2013 Accomplishments • Four well received symposiums were organized. – June 2012: Integrating Risk Management & Business Continuity – September 2012: Keeping the Lights on and Business Running – December 2012: The Year in Review (Ghosts of Lessons Past) – & Annual Wine & Cheese – March 2013: Cyber Security – The Worst is Yet to Come • June 25th – third annual DRIE cross-chapter breakfast networking session (over 60 attended) • Lower cost catering while trying to maintain quality • Electronic surveys have provided excellent feedback – thank you!

Education – Seeta Mohan • Main objective is to develop, promote, facilitate and support education opportunities for all experience levels of DRIE members, and for students interested in entering the BCM industry. – Student support through scholarships, co-op programs, mentoring and university and college partnerships. – Leverage industry expertise through expert panels. – Organize round table discussions/webcasts, workshops for skill specific development. – Development of white papers for industry specific interests on leading edge issues. – Organize webinars featuring expert speakers (e.g. experts who cannot attend/travel to DRIE quarterlies). – Mentorship for less experienced DRIE members - match need to available resources.
Education – Seeta Mohan • Accomplishments: – BCAW, March 18-22 2013 – with key partners: DRI Canada, WCDM, Centennial College, CRHNet, BCI Canada; with huge help from the HZX team! – DRIE Scholarships – 11 applications received; two $1,000 scholarships awarded this year at WCDM Gala Awards Evening (June 25th) – great participation on the scholarship committee • Next for 2014: – Continue to promote BCAW 2014 with LinkedIn contacts, to double the groupsite membership numbers this year. – Looking for themes for next BCAW – Volunteers spots for the BCAW Committee are available this Fall to prepare for 2014 activities, contact the Education Director:
