Air Traffic Management initiatives in China

Performance Based Navigation

• 10 challenging airports(Lhasa, Ali, Linzhi, Bangda, Rikaze, Zhangjiajie, Liping, Kangding, Yan’an)  optimized lateral and vertical trajectories for airlines, lower fuel burn

• 2 airspace oriented projects (Sanya, Chengdu)  airspace capacity improvement • Elise : Studies done for Beijing Capital Airport to optimize the CATII/III holding points  reduce runway occupancy time in LOW VIS conditions, runway capacity improvement

• Continuous Climb/Descend Operations: CCO/CDO trial at Dalian Airport with Air Traffic Management Bureau  lower fuel burn

Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM)

• National trial planned in Dec to implement ground delay program  transfer airborne holding to ground delay, lower fuel burn

Conclusion • Airbus is fully engaged with the ASD, SA, ATAG, ICAO etc to support the industry-wide 4 pillar strategy to secure our long-term growth sustainably.

• Airbus is either leading or is actively involved in pushing advancements in technology, alternative fuels, operational and infrastructure improvement projects.

• All Airbus aircrafts, from the A318 to the A380, are designed for CO2, NOx and noise efficiency.

• An overall sustainable development approach is considered key, to ensure the economic and social benefits of aviation are fully considered, as well as the environmental aspects.

• Industry is committed on Sustainable Fuels and is doing a lot of efforts on Demonstration and Certification. Sustainable Production and high costs are the main obstacles to commercial flights due to the lack of adequate political framework.

The continued close collaboration we have with our stakeholders is essential in achieving this
