Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Rebate Program MVEC offers consumers financial incentives for the replacement of central heat pump systems, central conventional cooling systems, or dual fuel systems for existing single family dwellings. We will also give recommendations on how to weatherize your home in order to help you reduce energy consumption. Incentive Payment Schedule - (January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013)

Residential consumers must be served by Magic Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. Only central, ducted systems are eligible (no window or through the wall units). A licensed air-conditioning contractor is responsible for determining the unit’s proper size for best results. New homes and master metered accounts are NOT eligible for rebates.

Program Guidelines and Procedures: • • • • •

Air-conditioning contractor must have a valid Texas air-conditioning contractor license. MVEC Member will initiate rebate forms. MVEC reserves the right to inspect all installations. The rebate will be disbursed to the member after MVEC receives and reviews all completed rebate forms. Please allow 6 weeks after receipt of all documentation to receive rebate. The air-condition capacity sizing ratio must exceed 500 square feet per ton. If the ratio does not meet the minimum requirement, a load calculation (manual “J” or computer) must accompany the rebate request. Unit must be installed January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. Rebate request must be submitted to MVEC within 30 days of the installation of the unit. A copy of the purchase receipt or invoice must be mailed to MVEC, Attn: Rebate Program, P.O. Box 267, Mercedes, TX 78570, emailed ([email protected]) or faxed to (956-825-7185). Please include home address and MVEC account number on receipt or invoice. MVEC Member must provide proof of purchase. Air-conditioning systems installed and purchased by City, County, State, or federal grant programs do not qualify for rebates.

Rebates are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis until funds earmarked for the Program are depleted or the program is terminated. To qualify for a rebate the home must be served by MVEC. The terms and conditions of the Program are subject to change without notice. Rebate forms must be received within thirty (30) days of installation to qualify for rebate.

Marathon Water Heater Program The MVEC Marathon Water Heater Program offers a $150 financial incentive to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of 40 gallon and above Marathon brand water heaters in new and existing homes served by MVEC from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013.

Where can I buy a Marathon Water Heater? Marathon Water Heaters are available for purchase at our Mercedes and Edinburg offices. Program Guidelines and Procedures:

Rebate is available to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of a 40 gallon and above Marathon brand water heater in a new or existing home served by MVEC. All water heaters must be new and installed per the manufacturer’s installation procedures. State and local codes must be followed. Water heater heat traps must be installed. To receive rebate please attach an itemized and dated receipt of purchase from the retailer with the completed rebate form. MVEC will require an onsite inspection of the water heater installation to verify that all program requirements are met. MVEC reserves the right to deny the rebate if MVEC cannot verify the information provided on the application form. Applications must be received within 30 days of purchase of the water heater. Please allow 6 weeks after receipt of all documentation to receive rebate.

Heat Pump Water Heater Program The MVEC Heat Pump Water Heater Program offers a $250 financial incentive to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR Qualified electric heat pump water heater in new and existing homes served by MVEC from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013.

Rebate is available to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR Qualified electric heat pump water heater in a new or existing home served by MVEC. ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program Introduction The 2013 MVEC ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program will offer incentives to home builders that complete and submit certification of the construction of new Program Homes in the MVEC service territory from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. Our ENERGY STAR New Homes program promotes construction of energy-efficient homes that provide homebuyers with the most energy efficient home for their money. Program Homes offer energy efficient features that contribute to improved home quality and homeowner comfort. To qualify, a Program Home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. All Program Homes must be inspected and tested by a third-party accredited Home Energy Rating Company.

Builder Participation Information and Incentives Builder Application Process All home builders who participate in the MVEC ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program must complete the following items to be eligible for incentives: 1. Home Builder must be a registered ENERGY STAR Partner. If not, builder must complete and submit an Online ENERGY STAR Partnership Agreement. 2. Home Builder must complete and submit an MVEC ENERGY STAR Builder Participation Agreement.

New Home Eligibility Requirements 1. Home must be a new single-family residence served by Magic Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. 2. Builder must select an accredited HERS Rater and work with the Rater to identify energy efficiency measures to meet or exceed ENERGY STAR specifications. 3. Builder must construct home in accordance with measures selected. 4. All Program Homes must be inspected and tested by a third-party accredited Home Energy Rating Company* to verify the homes’ predicted performance. Builder will determine the best testing methodology to certify the home. 5. Incentives will be paid to registered home builders that complete and submit certification of the construction of new Program Homes in the MVEC service territory from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. *Home Energy Raters must be registered with MVEC. HERS Raters are required to complete and submit an MVEC Energy Rater Participation Agreement. 5

ENERGY STAR for New Homes Incentives The 2013 MVEC ENERGY STAR Home Program will offer incentives to home builders that complete and submit certification of the construction of new Program Homes between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013 in the MVEC service territory. Financial Incentives – Paid to Builder $150 per single-family home: H.E.R.S. index of 76- 72 $300 per single-family home: H.E.R.S. index of 71 – 66 $600 per single-family home: H.E.R.S. index of 65 - Below $200 Additional Premium for Energy Star Version 3.0 checklist $150 Rheem Marathon Water Heater Installation Rebate $250 ENERGY STAR Rated Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate Rebates are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis until funds earmarked for the Program are depleted or the program is terminated. To qualify for a rebate the new home must be certified between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013. ENERGY STAR for New Homes Rebate Application ENERGY STAR Home Raters are required to submit an MVEC ENERGY STAR for New Homes Rebate Application upon completion of the ENERGY STAR home. MVEC will pay a $30 HERS Rater incentive for each approved MVEC ENERGY STAR New Home Rebate Application submitted by HERS Rater.
