THERMAL MAGNETIC PROTECTION OVERLOAD PROTECTION Overload protection is provided through CT operated continuous, variable bimetallic overload unit. By adjusting the CT tapsand varying the setting of overload unit, current setting can be varied from approximately 25% to 100% ( For exact details, refer technical data sheet ). SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION : Short circuit protection is provided through an armature type direct acting magnetic release. During short circuit fault, the armature is instantaneously attracted, in-turn tripping the ACB through delatching of trip shaft. This design ensures faster tripping time (less than 2 cycles). Short circuit pick up level is adjustable continuously by knobs provided on the front of the ACB. For 4000A ACB trippping is through series trip coil & is fixed at 5 times the CT TAP set current. TIME DELAYED SHORT CIRCUIT TRIP (OPTIONAL) : To achive discrimination when used as an incomer, a time delayed S/C trip can be provided. This consists of a S/C release fitted with microswitch and RS unit supplied separately. RS unit provides the time delay and is available in two versions - with fixed time delay ( 0.04 sec. ) and with adjustable time delay ( 0.04 to 0.46 sec. ) During fault, the S/C release operates the micro switch activating the RS unit. The RS unit trips the ACB through the tripping coil after the set time delay. EARTH FAULT PROTECTION ( OPTIONAL) : Earth Fault Protection is also offered as an optional feature. This protection is achieved through Earth Fault ( E/F ) relay. The E/F relay senses the earth fault and gbives a trip command to the ACB through shunt trip. The sensitivity of the E/F relay is adjustable between 10% and 40% of the ACB rating. The E/F telay is available in both versions - 3 phase 3 wire and 3 phase 4 wire. As a standard, LED trip indication is provided on the E/F relay. FAULT ANALYZER : LH series thermal magnitic ACBs upto 3200A are fitted with mechanical trip indications for overload, phase to ground fault, two phase or two phase to ground fault and three Phase or three Phase to ground fault. Electrical indication facility for O/L trip is also provided as standard. Electrical indication facility for phase to ground fault, two phase or two phase to ground fault and three phase or three phase to ground fault can be provided on request. LH 4000 ACBs are provided with mechanical trip indications for overload, short circuit & ;facility for O/L trip electrical indication as standard feature. Electrical indication facility for AC under voltage trip is available on entire range of ACBs on request. STATIC PROTECTION Air Circuit Breakers with static protection come with a Solid Protection Relay - The CSR. The relay comes as an integral part of LH series ACBs from 200 Amp to 3200 Amp. and does not require any external supply for tripping ACB during fault.

Accessories SHUNT TRIP : Shunt trip is used for tripping the ACB , remotely or by external relays and in case of thermal overload relay operation. Normal operating voltage band is 70% tp 110% WIDE VOLTAGE BAND SHUNT TRIP ( 0 to 110% ) can also be provided as optional. Here shunt trip is fitted with RA unit. UNDER VOLTAGE TRIP (OPTIONAL) : Under Voltage trip is used for tripping the ACB during undervoltage, interlocking purposes and tripping the ACB remotely. Normal operating range is from 85% to 110% of rated voltage with a dropout voltage range of 35% to 70% TIME DELAYED UNDER VOLTAGE TRIP with a time delayed tripping upto 0.5 seconds can also be provided as an optional feature. Here UVT is fitted with RC unit. AUXILLIARY SWITCHES : ACBs are fitted with 4 N/O + 4 N/C auxiliary contacts as standard of which 3 N/O + 3 N/C potential free contacts are available to customer for external wiring. AUTOMATIC SAFETY SHUTTER (OPTIONAL) : When ACB is drawn out to maintenance positin, the shutter assembly automatically drops down and conceals the live main isolating contacts. DOOR INTERLOCK WITH DEFEAT FACILITY (OPTIONAL) : Door interlock can be provided to prevent opening of panel door woth ACB in SERVICE & TEST position for Drawout ACB. For Fixed type ACB, door interlock can be provided to prevent opening of panel door. When ACB is switched 'ON', it is possible to defeat the interlock, if necessary. SLIDING CONTACTS : In case of drawout ACBs , two sliding contacts for each auxiliary switch are necessary. A maximum of 30 ( single way ) sliding contacts can be provided per ACB.
