Activity Information COURSE DESCRIPTION AND STATEMENT OF NEED

This CME activity will bring together physicians from a wide variety of disciplines including endocrinology, obstetrics/gynecology, and internal medicine to provide participants with a state-of-the-art conference on endocrinology and metabolism. This course is designed to summarize and present the latest information in diagnosing and managing of endocrine/ metabolic disorders, including pituitary disorders, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, obesity and androgen-related disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). In addition to state-of-the-art management of various endocrine and metabolic disorders, participants will gain new insight into emerging areas of clinical research and controversial issues in disease management. Formal presentations will be accompanied by question-and-answer periods with general discussion. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

• Evaluate patients for impaired glucose tolerance to reduce morbidity associated with PCOS • Discuss goals and controversies of patients with endocrine hypertension • Adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to the care of patients with endocrine and metabolic conditions • Apply new learning to improve health outcomes of patients with adrenal insufficiency • Develop treatment plans for obesity and diabetes that integrate lifestyle, pharmacotherapy and weight loss surgery ACCREDITATION STATEMENT
