Introduction
POP3
stands
for
Post
Office
Protocol
(version
3),
comprised
of
mailboxes
for
email
systems
so
that
a
user
can
retrieve
email
from
a
central
location
where
the
email
is
stored.
POP3
accounts
allow
users
to
have
mailboxes
on
a
server
with
their
domain
name.
This
means
that
if
you
own
the
domain
name,
yourdomain.com,
and
are
signed
up
for
email,
you
can
receive
and
send
email
at
[email protected].
Our
POP3
email
service
works
like
any
standard
email
account
you
would
get
from
an
ISP.
The
maximum
size
for
an
outgoing
email
message
is
10MB,
including
its
attachments.
Each
account
can
store
an
unlimited
amount
of
email.

What
is
an
Account
Address?
This
is
the
email
address
of
the
account.
An
account
can
only
have
one
email
address.
You
can
use
aliases
to
redirect
email
from
many
email
addresses
to
one
single
account.
For
instance,
you
are
the
administrator
of
a
club,
but
also
the
treasurer
and
the
equipment
manager
for
the
club.
In
this
case,
you
would
create
an
ACCOUNT
for
yourself
(i.e.
[email protected]),
and
then
create
3
aliases
for
yourself
(i.e.
[email protected],
[email protected],
and
[email protected]).
All
your
aliases
should
direct
to
your
account,
which
you
can
then
check
via
outlook
or
gmail,
or
you
can
check
messages
on
the
Mail
Server.

you
don't
have

Active
Directory
Account
Check
this
checkbox
if
you
want
to
connect
the
account
to
a
Windows
NT/2000
Active
Directory
Account.
There
are
several
advantages
in
using
a
connection
to
an
Active
Directory.
For
example,
none
of
the
account
passwords
are
stored
in
the
Mail
Server
database.
Instead,
the
user
must
supply
his/her
Windows
NT/2000
domain
password
when
logging
in
to
the
POP3
server.
Domain
Active
Directory
Domain
is
the
name
of
the
Windows
NT/2000
domain,
in
the
case
where
the
mail
server
account
is
connected
to
a
Windows
2000/NT
active
directory
account.
User
Name
Active
Directory
User
name
is
the
user
name
of
the
active
directory
domain
that
the
mail
server
account
is
connected
to.
Setting

Enter
the

6
Setting
up
Signatures
If
you
specify
a
signature,
this
will
be
appended
to
all
outgoing
email
messages.
It's
possible
to
specify
both
a
plain
text
signature
and
a
HTML
signature.
If
a
plain
text
signature
has
been
specified,
but
no
HTML
signature,
Mail
Server
will
use
the
plain
text
signature
as
HTML
signature.
Mail
Server
will
convert
the
plain
text
line
breaks
to
HTML
line
breaks.
It
is
possible
to
use
the
macros
%User.FirstName%
and
%User.LastName%
in
signatures.
These
macros
will
be
replaced
with
the
users
first
and
last
name
as
specified
in
the
account
settings.

You

use
an
alias
to

What
is
a

Distribution

is
a
term
used
for
a
function
of
email
clients
where
lists
of
email
addresses
are
used
to
email
everyone
on
the
list
at
once.
It
differs
from
a
mailing
list
or
the
email
option
found
in
an
Internet
forum
as
it
is
usually
for
one‐
way
traffic
and
not
for
coordinating
a
discussion.
In
effect,
only
members
of
a
distribution
list
can
send
mails
to
the
list.
To

1. Click
