Notes Regarding The Class Journal Assignments Due to the span of contemporary issues that will be covered and discussed in the class, the Journal Assignment will the primary tool for each individual to develop, improve and enhance their own thought process and increase their understanding of the issues at hand. The intent of the classroom journal is to spur thinking. You are encouraged to write in the first person (“I”). Journals should be typed. If they are handwritten, it is important that they are legible. Be prepared to write approximately 500 to 600 words per journal per issue and question assigned during the class. Remember, this can be a free-flowing thought process and entries can be made throughout the week regarding the one question. Journals will not be shared with anyone but the instructor and will be kept confidential. Evaluation of the journals will focus on the use of writing to encourage exploration of the material as well as their minimum word lengths as stated above. They will be graded on writing style. Journals will be collected at the end of the each class.
