Seymour "Swede" Levov (McGregor) - a legendary high school athlete, a devoted family man, a hard worker, the prosperous inheritor of his father's Newark glove factory - comes of age in thriving, triumphant postwar America. But everything he loves is lost when the country begins to run amok in the turbulent 1960s. Not even the most private, well-intentioned citizens, it seems, gets to sidestep the sweep of history. American Pastoral is the story of a fortunate American's rise and fall - of a strong, confident master of social equilibrium overwhelmed by the forces of social disorder. For the Swede is not allowed to stay forever blissful inside the beloved hundred-and-seventy-year-old stone farmhouse, in rural Old Rimrock, where he lives with his pretty wife - the college sweetheart who was Miss New Jersey of 1949 - and the lively, precocious daughter who is the apple of his eye. The apple of his eye, that is, until she grows up to be a revolutionary terrorist bent on destroying her father's paradise. Based on the novel by Philip Roth.

TELEVISION 4000 Warner Blvd., Burbank, CA 91505 818-954-6000 [email protected] When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure. Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan, who has quickly risen through the ranks of the Atlanta PD. But Lex’s job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana, and his best friend and fellow officer Jake, are trapped within the cordoned area. Also quarantined in viral ground zero is 17 year-old Teresa, who is eight months pregnant and now separated from her boyfriend on the other side; Katie Frank, an elementary school teacher now placed on lockdown with her entire class, including her young son; and CDC researcher Dr. Victor Cannerts, the doctor who initially made the controversial call to quarantine the area and is now racing to find a cure for the virus. On the outside, Dr. Sabine Lommers is leading the government efforts to contain the outbreak, and has asked for Lex’s help in enforcing the cordon – which grows increasingly difficult as the public trust deteriorates. And the public has reason to be wary, as journalist Leo begins unraveling a conspiracy, finding that something doesn’t add up in the official story being told. Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear, and the disintegration of society around them. But as they begin to gain each other’s trust, hope remains, and on either side of the cordon unlikely heroes will rise. (August 10 - December 9)

Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232 310-244-4000 In the story, Roland Deschain is the last living member of a knightly order known as gunslingers and the last of the line of "Arthur Eld", his world's analogue of King Arthur. The world he lives in is quite different from our own, yet it bears striking similarities to it. Politically organized along the lines of a feudal society, it shares technological and social characteristics with the American Old West but is also magical. While the magical aspects are largely gone from Mid-World, some vestiges of them remain, along with the relics of a highly advanced, but long vanished, society. Roland's quest is to find the Dark Tower, a fabled building said to be the nexus of all universes. Roland's world is said to have "moved on", and indeed it appears to be coming apart at the seams—mighty nations have been torn apart by war, entire cities and regions vanish without a trace and time does not flow in an orderly fashion. Even the Sun sometimes rises in the north and sets in the east.

“GAME DAY” Feature Film PRODUCTION OFFICE [email protected] STATUS: September 19 LOCATION: Chicago PRODUCER: Stuart Wolf - Matt Corrado DIRECTOR: John Susman A dramedy about Ricki, a self-absorbed Harvard educated, computer whiz, more comfortable sitting in front of her laptop than chatting with coworkers, perhaps not unlike a female Mark Zuckerberg. Ricki has no idea how to be a team player or how to push the right buttons. When her promising start-up gets into trouble, she says the wrong thing at the wrong time to the wrong people. Her investors pull out, her startup goes bust, and the rest of her life implodes. Bankrupt, she starts over again at a large consulting firm, where she works under Victor, a tough, team player who has no interest in “rugged individuals” or employees who want to go it alone. Despite how hard she works and tries to contribute to the company’s success, Ricki realizes that her boss’s emphasis on team ethic means she must also play on the up until now all-male office basketball team to keep her job. She recruits Lucas, a street-wise, basketball-savvy, high school kid, who reluctantly agrees to coach her to become a “player,” an experience that ultimately transforms each other’s life.

It’s about an unsung group of African American female math wizards who helped NASA win the space race. They helped provide NASA with the raw computing power it needed to safely launch John Glenn and his fellow astronauts into space. The story intersects seminal turning points in U.S. history including the Cold War, the space race, the civil rights movement and the quest for gender equality. The author — whose father was a NASA scientist in Langley — notes that after WWII, federal agencies and defense contractors hired numbers-savvy women to deal with the shortfall of male numbers crunchers. NASA did the same. While they dealt with racism and the Jim Crow laws in Virginia, these women became so valued that Glenn refused to launch unless they signed off on calculations that gave him confidence his craft would not turn into a fireball. (Oprah Winfrey, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Taraji P. Henson mentioned for the cast. / The goal of all this is to begin production early next year.)

Joe Coughlin (Affleck), the youngest son of a prominent Boston police captain, has long since turned his back on his strict and proper upbringing. Now having graduated from a childhood of petty theft to a career in the pay of the city's most fearsome mobsters, Joe enjoys the spoils, thrills, and notoriety of being an outlaw. But life on the dark side carries a heavy price. In a time when ruthless men of ambition, armed with cash, illegal booze, and guns, battle for control, no one—neither family nor friend, enemy nor lover—can be trusted. Beyond money and power, even the threat of prison, one fate seems most likely for men like Joe: an early death. But until that day, he and his friends are determined to live life to the hilt. Joe embarks on a dizzying journey up the ladder of organized crime that takes him from the flash of Jazz Age Boston to the sensual shimmer of Tampa's Latin Quarter to the sizzling streets of Cuba. Live by Night is a riveting epic layered with a diverse cast of loyal friends and callous enemies, tough rumrunners and sultry femmes fatales, Bible-quoting evangelists and cruel Klansmen, all battling for survival and their piece of the American dream. At once a sweeping love story and a compelling saga of revenge, it is a spellbinding tour de force of betrayal and redemption, music and murder, that brings fully to life a bygone era when sin was cause for celebration and vice was a national virtue. Based on the novel "Live by Night," written by Dennis Lehane. (July 6 - October 15 / Release Date: October, 7, 2016)

In 1925 Fawcett ventured into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, hoping to make one of the most important discoveries in history. For centuries Europeans believed the world’s largest jungle concealed the glittering kingdom of El Dorado. Thousands had died looking for it, leaving many scientists convinced that the Amazon was truly inimical to humankind. But Fawcett, whose daring expeditions helped inspire Conan Doyle’s The Lost World, had spent years building his scientific case. Captivating the imagination of millions around the globe, Fawcett embarked with his twenty-one-year-old son, determined to prove that this ancient civilization—which he dubbed "Z"—existed. Then he and his expedition vanished.

The Devil has come to Los Angeles…Lucifer is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things – wine, women and song – when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux. For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him – as well as his best friend and confidante, Mazikeen aka Maze (Brandt), a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman. The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective Chloe Dancer (German), who initially is dismissive of Lucifer. But she becomes intrigued by his talent for drawing out people’s secrets and his desire to dispense justice, doling out punishment to those who deserve it. As they work together to solve the pop star’s murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Accustomed to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is intrigued by Chloe’s apparent purity and begins to wonder if there’s hope for his own soul yet. At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel Amenadiel (Woodside), has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to the underworld…can the Devil incarnate be tempted toward the side of Good, or will his original calling pull him back toward Evil? On a colony ship carrying 5000 sleeping passengers to a new world, a malfunction awakens passenger Jim Preston ninety years too soon. Unable to get back into hibernation, Jim is doomed to live out his life alone on the massive ship. After he’s tried every means to save himself, and exhausted the entertainments of the ship, Jim seeks solace among the hibernating passengers. There he sees the sleeping Aurora, a beautiful writer whose books he finds in the ship’s library. Jim finds himself falling in love – and a terrible possibility presents itself: he could wake Aurora up. Jim resists the temptation for nearly a year, but finally does the unforgivable. He wakes Aurora – dooming her, like himself, to spend the rest of her life stranded on the starship. He lets her believe her awakening, like his, was an accident. For a while, his dreams come true: real love blossoms between them, and Jim and Aurora fall into a passionate, magical affair. The idyll ends when Arthur, the ship’s robotic bartender, spills the beans to Aurora: Jim woke her up deliberately. The revelation causes a devastating rift between the lovers – but in the midst of their quarrel, a greater crisis surfaces. The malfunction that woke Jim is only the tip of the iceberg: something is terribly wrong with the ship. Facing the destruction of the starship and the loss of every soul on board, Jim and Aurora must bridge their differences and solve the mystery of the dying vessel. With the help of Gus, an ailing member of the crew, they battle weightlessness, vacuum, rampant breakdowns and a runaway fusion reactor in an epic tale of love and betrayal, life and death between the stars. Fishburne, will play Alex Haley, author of the novel Roots: The Saga Of An American Family, an American family origin story based around the life of Kunta Kinte. The new version is described as an original, contemporary production, incorporating more material from Haley’s novel, as well as carefully researched new scholarship of the time. Roots is described as a historical portrait of American slavery recounting the journey of one family’s will to survive, endure and ultimately carry on their legacy despite enormous hardship and inhumanity. Spanning multiple generations, the lineage begins with young Kunta Kinte who is captured in his homeland in The Gambia and transported in brutal conditions to colonial America where he’s sold into slavery. Throughout the series, the family continues to face adversity while bearing witness and contributing to notable events in U.S. history – including the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, slave uprisings and eventual emancipation. The script focus is the late 1960s, when cheap counterculture films like Easy Rider were minting money, and 20th Century Fox was struggling mightily over a number of big-budget flops. Russ Meyer was already established as the outlaw helmer of soft-core pulp films like Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill, and he wanted the legitimacy of making a studio film. Richard Zanuck, then head of 20th, gave him that opportunity because his profit margins were so high and his costs were miniscule. When Meyer agreed to take on Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, he insisted the script get written by Roger Ebert, the third string movie critic of the Chicago Sun Times who had written one of the few positive reviews Meyer had ever received. Given the esteem in which Ebert was held as a film critic when he died, it seems remarkable he meshed so well with Meyer and his brigade of buxom actresses. The film will follow that relationship, and the struggle with the ratings board.

The story of four estranged sisters who reunite for their mother’s alleged suicide. Mary Baxter has had an enviable life – a dancer who married young and never looked back as she traveled the world and moved from one marriage to the next. Four husbands gave her four daughters, each of whom are as different from each other as the cities they were named after. When Mary dies, her live-at-home daughter, Austin, calls her three sisters to return to their childhood home for what appears to be a wake; yet, when they discover mom’s still in the tub, the siblings quickly retreat into their childhood roles. As a raging storm traps them inside their island home with their dead mother, the women’s fragile facades begin to crack as they share memories, play Scrabble, and drink a lot of vodka. Their bickering escalates until finally, Austin can’t hold back any longer and confesses that their mother had ALS and that her suicide was really a planned death. Her sisters are furious and want to turn her in to the police. Austin pleads that her sisters have no idea what she’s been going through in care taking for their mother. To prove it, she secretly poisons her older sister Carolina — giving her a drug, which paralyzes the body but leaves the mind alert. Old animosities and new secrets continue to surface as the sisters panic that Carolina has been drugged for too long. Finally, she emerges from the paralysis. Her time spent immobile and dependent, sways her opinion and she confesses that she would have done the same thing. Just as the police arrive to examine the body, and Austin faces the possibility of arrest, the sisters unite to take care of their own, finally understanding the true meaning of family.

Then, simply but persistently, he began to ask the authorities who were the men responsible, what was being done. And was turned away, fobbed off, treated as a nuisance. Which was when the Chinaman, denied justice, decided on revenge. And went back to war.

If you had to sum up Emmett Wayney in one word it wouldn't be athletic. Or artistic. Or academically-inclined. Emmett Wayney is a survivor. The fifth child in an amazing family (knick-named The Wonderful Wayneys for their good looks, MENSA level intelligence, creativity, athleticism and popularity), Emmett has managed to fend off all pressure to be "multiexceptional" - celebrating his "C" average status with flair. Which isn't easy when your mother wrote the book on raising multi-exceptional offspring (it's been on the New York Times Bestseller list for 49 weeks and counting, literally). Emmett knows that he'll find his calling one day, but on his own terms and in his own time. Seriously, we wouldn't have a show if he wasn't trying enthusiastically from episode to episode - no matter how often his best laid plans threaten to destroy the family's reputation, home or basic sense of security.
