Napa County Office of Education Late Arrival/Early Release Policy ACE Summer Camp Attendance Requirements The program operates from 8:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. Monday-Friday June 8th – July 10th. Current and incoming middle school students are expected to attend at least three days and 12 hours each week. If students fail to meet the attendance guidelines, their spaces may be filled with students who can attend regularly. Reasons for Late Arrival or Early Release Sometimes it isn’t possible for every student to arrive at 8:00 am and attend until 3:30 p.m. every day. The following are approved reasons for the late arrival and/or early release of students from the program: 1. Student attends another adult supervised after school program 2. Student receives district-sponsored transportation and must leave at a designated time. 3. Family schedule makes it difficult for student to leave or be picked up at 3:30 p.m. 4. Student has other non-program obligations 5. Student has a medical appointment. 6. Weather conditions (especially if the student walks home). One of the above reasons MUST be noted on the attendance sheet at the time of sign-out. Releasing Students Safely Adults will be authorized to pick up students early using the same guidelines that each school district uses for the regular school day and that is defined by Ed. Code: 1. The adult is the student’s parent/legal guardian with custody. 2. The adult has appropriate identification and the verified authorization of the student’s parent/legal guardian with custody. 3. The adult is a properly authorized law officer acting in accordance with law. 4. The adult is taking the student to emergency medical care, at the request of the principal or designee. Older siblings can be authorized to sign students out of the after school program early. In addition, students themselves can be authorized to sign out early if they are walking to another program or walking home. All adults authorized to pick up a student early will be listed on the Application Form. The form also includes authorization to walk home. Parents must send a note or phone the site if a student is to be released early on a day not identified for early release on the Early Release Form. Injuries might also arise from an actual or alleged failure to properly maintain, use, repair, or replace physical facilities or equipment available for Activities.
