Level external gutters Kingspan are manufactured according to supplier’s abilities from galvanized metalsheet 0.6 mm thick with single-side coating (PES / polyester 25 μm or Plastisol 200 μm) 6,000 mm long. All accessories (gutter support, connections, heads, corner components, downpipes, elbowpipes…) are components of the system.

Kingspan Insulated Gutter System – valley and boundary gutters It is necessary to design a drainage system to internal drainage in case of gable and pitch roofs without a parapet. Kingspan offers the internal drainage system of level prefabricated insulated valley and parapet gutters. OO

OO

Standard gutters include standard heads / or with overflow.

When designing internal gutter, please keep in mind, that vertical drainage system can not cross with horizontal support components of roof construction (girders, clamps, purlins, etc.). As the gutters are not self-supporting, it is necessary to adjust the steel construction for their application or to use hooks. Kingspan recommends electrical heating of gutters.

Rooflight is an optimal appliance to enable daylight to the interior of the building. This applies especially to longspan roofs, where skylights or rooflight panels are the only way to effectively fulfill requirements of even daylight spread inside the building. Rooflight panels are laid at the roof surface level. In case of rooflight panels there is no light loss compared to skylights (skylight support, transversal skylight walls).

Application

Applications

Light transmission

The KS1000 GRP are factory assembled double skin units which can be used with KS1000 RW where the roof slope is 6° (10 %) or more and KS1000 FF where the roof slope is 8° (14 %) or more. Maximum available panel length is 6,500 mm including overlap.

GRP rooflight panels transmit 70 % of the light and are opaque.

Fire performance

A KS1000 HTL – Hybrid Rooflight is a product with GRP top sheet and polycarbonate bottom sheet combination for buildings with Kingspan KS1000 RW and KS1000 FF roof panel where thermo insulation and designed surface are required.

Grade of fire spreading: without fire spreading Property of “burning while dropping”: burning while dropping Fire classification: hard to burn (TMI-28 / 2007) Note!

The basic conditions of the installation:

Rooflight panels can be laid as chequerboard or in ridge following roof inclination, rooflight panels layout influences daylight spread inside the building.

OO

Slope of the roof minimum for RW = 5.7° (10 %); for FF = 8° (14 %)

In case of Roofligths, there are exceptions from the fire resistance regulations in the following cases:

OO

Standard overlap is 250 mm

OO

In case the internal height of building is min 3 m

OO

Distance between supports must be determined from the span tables calculation. Please, contact technical department Kingspan.

OO

In case there are no flammable materials (stored or built in) in the following ranges: within 1 m range (vertical and horizontal) of rooflight

Dimensions

within 3 m distance from the level of the roof support elements

The shape of the GRP top layer is same as the shape of KS1000 RW roof panel.

Light transmission

Standard length: max. 6,250 mm (total length)

Materials External and internal facing from glass fibre sheets 1.2 / 0.8 mm thick with maximum wave of 35 mm are joined together by PE distance spacers.

Construction Maximum distance of rooflight panels supports can be 1,200 mm (please consult with Kingspan Technical Bureau).

Fire protection Kingspan rooflight panels comply with standard building regulations and norms for glass fibre products and their technical parameters.

Sealants and fillers

A building cladding is designed and laid so as to prevent all weather effects to penetrate in the building. The building cladding also regulates temperature and prevents from airleakage. That is why it is important to properly choose, specify and install the sealants, tapes, binders and fillings to ensure the finished cladding works properly.

Sealant types OO

Butyl rubber sealant tape

OO

PE sealant tape

OO

PVC foam sealant tape

OO

Silicon binder

OO

Other specific sealants

Fasteners

Fillings In the places where the panel end is equipped with flashing, the panel fits only in the highest parts of the profile, resulting in a gap between the profile and flashing. It is necessary to insert a filling of the right size, which will prevent the penetration of wind, water and insects.

The following materials are suitable for this application: Polyethylene filling. Other sealants as required by specific detail. Water-resistant foil (component of TOP-DEK panel).

The right choice of fasteners has a great influence on the quality of final building. These components fasten panels to roof and wall frame or accessories to the main or supporting construction. The fasteners have to fulfill the following requirements: OO

Roof and wall cladding fastened to main or supporting construction

OO

Construction resistance to load

OO

Airtightness / watertightness of the building

OO

Lifetime equal to that of cladding system

OO

The appearance to correspond with the building

Main fasteners The main fasteners fasten insulated panels to the building construction. Fasteners fulfill the function of supporting member and must be able to transmit the load of panels in the building construction throughout the cladding lifetime. Fasteners used for insulated panels are either self-tapping or self-drilling. Other fasteners can be ordered according to customer’s requirements.

Accessories 18

Number of fasteners applied is generally high due to thin and flexible materials to be fastened. This usually means, that allowed load of fastener is not the primary factor and the total load is distributed to a large number of fasteners. When deciding about the right fasteners applied, please consult with manufacturer or Kingspan Technical Bureau.

Materials and lifetime The maximum lifetime of fasteners depends on the corrosion speed, which can be influenced by technical parameters, internal and external environment and building construction. We recommend applying stainless steel fasteners considering the building lifetime. Carbon steel – coated carbon steel fasteners function reliably on roofs and walls for a period of 20 years. Stainless steel – the expected lifetime of stainless steel fasteners is for over 50 years.

Product guarantee It is strictly requested to apply stainless steel fasteners on all buildings where Kingspan extends its guarantee.

Secondary fasteners and rivets

Strength

Secondary fasteners and rivets are applied to side overlaps and for flashing attachments. Fasteners for thin materials are required for site installation.

Main fasteners attach panels to building construction and are strong enough to stand the load. In practice, the wind suction is the most important load for fasteners (wind suction can cause the panels to break away from the construction).
