Emmanuel Udoh is the chair/director of Information Technology Programs at National College and also a professor of computer science at Indiana Institute of Technology, USA. He is currently the Editorin-Chief of International Journal of Grid and High Performance Computing and an associate editor of the International Journal of Distributed Systems and Technologies (IJDST). Dr. Udoh received his PHD degree in Information Technology and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Capella University, USA. Abd Rahaman Azab, is a PhD student at Department of Computers Eng., Norway University, Norway. He received a BSc in electrical Eng., and MSc in computer eng. and automatic control from the Faculty of Eng., Mansoura Univ., in 2003,2008 respectively. His Interests (Programming Languages, Networks and System Administration, and Database). Nik Bessis is currently a Principal Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at University of Bedfordshire (UK). He obtained a BA from the TEI of Athens and completed his MA and PhD at De Montfort University (Leicester, UK). His research interest is the analysis, research, and delivery of user-led developments with regard to trust, data integration,

These have a particular focus on the study and use of next generation and grid technologies methods for the benefit of various virtual organisational settings. He is involved in and leading a number of funded research and commercial projects in these areas. Dr. Bessis has published numerous papers and articles in international conferences and journals, and he is the editor of three books and the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Distributed Systems and Technologies (IJDST). In addition, Dr. Bessis is a regular reviewer of several journals and conferences and has served as a keynote speaker, associate editor, conference chair, scientific program committee member, and session chair in numerous international conferences. Junwei Cao is currently Professor and Assistant Dean, Research Institute of Information Technology, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He was a Research Scientist at MIT LIGO Laboratory and NEC Laboratories Europe. He received B.S. and M.S. from Tsinghua University in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He got his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Warwick, UK, in 2001. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE Computer Society and a Member of the ACM and CCF. Amitabha Chakrabarty received his B.Sc in Computer Science and Technology and M.Sc in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He completed another M.Sc (Telecommunication Engineering) from Independent University, Bangladesh. Currently he is perusing his PhD in School of Electronic Engineering at Dublin City University, Ireland. His research interest includes switching theory, wireless networking, and handover management in cellular networks. Brijesh Kumar Chaurasia is pursuing his PhD at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, India in Privacy Preservation in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks. He received his M.Tech. from D.A.V.V., Indore, India. Wu-Chun Chung received his B.S. degree in computer and information science from Aletheia University in 2004 and his M.S. degree in computer science and information engineering from National Dong Hwa University in 2006. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in the department of computer science at National Tsing Hua University. His research interests include grid computing, distributed systems, peer-to-peer computing, and wireless networks. Yeh-Ching Chung received a B.S. degree in Information Engineering from Chung Yuan Christian University in 1983, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer and Information Science from Syracuse University in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He joined the Department of Information Engineering at Feng Chia University as an associate professor in 1992 and became a full professor in 1999. From 1998 to 2001, he was the chairman of the department. In 2002, he joined the Department of Computer Science at National Tsing Hua University as a full professor. His research interests include parallel and distributed processing, cluster systems, grid computing, multi-core tool chain design, and multi-core embedded systems. He is a member of the IEEE computer society and ACM. Martin Collier received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in Electronic Engineering at the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin in 1986 and 1988 respectively. He was awarded a Ph.D. degree by Dublin City University in 1993. He is currently a lecturer at Dublin City University where he man343

His research interests include programmeable networks, quality of service, and advanced switching techniques. Yuhui Deng is an associate professor at Department of Computer Science, Jinan University, China. He received his PhD degree in computer architecture from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2004. From 2005 to 2008, he worked as a research officer at Cranfield University in United Kingdom. From 2008 to 2009, he worked at EMC Research China as a senior research scientist. He has authored and co-authored two book chapters, more than 20 refereed academic papers. He is on the editorial board of International Journal of Grid and High Performance Computing and a book titled Grid Technologies and Utility Computing: Concepts for Managing Large-Scale Applications. He has served as committee members for several professional conferences in the field. He is also a reviewer of several academic journals. His research interests cover green computing, data storage, computer architecture, Grid Computing, performance evaluation, etc. Na Helian received the PhD degree in computer science in 1992. She has various working experiences in Japan, Singapore and UK. She is now a Senior Lecturer at School of Computer Science, Hertfordshire University, UK. She is the co-investigator of the UK Government EPSRC/DTI grant “Grid-oriented Storage (GOS)”. Athena Eftychiou is PhD student in Semantic P2P networks at the University of Surrey. She graduated from the Higher Technical Institute Cyprus in 2000, after studying Computer Studies. In 2002 she started a part-time BSc, while working in the IT industry as a web developer. She received her BSc in Computing and Information Systems from the external programme of the University of London in 2007. The same year she joined the MSc in Internet Computing at the University of Surrey, to complete it in 2008 with distinction. Her MSc dissertation involved the evaluation of discovery mechanisms for non-replicable reusable resources in P2P networks. Her teaching experience includes teaching and lab support on various modules such as Enterprise System Development, Web Technologies, Information Modelling and Information Discovery. Her research interests cover the area of distributed knowledge and resource sharing technologies as well as semantic web knowledge modelling and retrieval models. Ing. Geoffrey Falzon is an IT Manager at STMicroelectronics (Malta) Ltd. He received a PhD from Brunel University, UK in 2009. He received an MSc in Data Communications from Brunel University in 2000 and a B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Malta in 1993. His research interests are in the area of Grid Workflow Management, Job Scheduling, Code Optimisation, Distributed Computing and Network Systems. He is a member of IEEE, IET and BCS. Heinz Frank received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Control- and Automation Engineering, from the Stuttgart University, Germany, in 1979. In the same year he joined the Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Equipment at the same university, were he received his Ph.D in 1985. From 1985 to 1991 he worked at the machine tool company Liebherr Verzahntechnik, Kempten, Germany. Since 1991 he is with the Reinhold-Wuerth-University of the Heilbronn University in Kuenzelsau, Germany. His fields of teaching are electrical engineering and automation engineering. In his research work he has two fields of interest, which are fast mechatronic systems and industrial communication systems. Marios Hadjinicolaou received the BS degree in Electronics from the University of London in 1979 and the MS and PhD degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Brunel University, UK in 1982 and 1986 respectively. He is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering and Design at Brunel University. His research interests are in the fields of Colored Petri Nets, video-on-demand, multimedia applications. Josef Hallberg (PhD) is an assistant professor in Media Technology at Luleå University of Technology and is a key researcher in the Media Technology research group within the department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Josef has experience working in several EU-level projects, such as MobiHealth and CogKnow. His main research interests lie within ubiquitous and pervasive computing, in context-aware smart environments, and in social networking using cloud computing in particular. Johan Kristiansson, PhD, received the MSc degree in Computing Science and Engineering from Umeå University, Umeå, Sweden in 2000. From 2000 to 2002, he worked as a software engineer at Marratech AB where he developed video conferencing and e-meeting software. From 2002 to 2006 he worked towards the PhD degree in Media technology at Luleå University of Technology, Luleå, Sweden, where he did research about mobility management and bandwidth management in multimedia systems. Today, Johan is employed as a senior research engineer at Ericsson Research where he is doing research in web and multimedia communication. Kuan-Chou Lai received his MS degree in computer science and information engineering from the National Cheng Kung University in 1991, and the PhD degree in computer science and information engineering from the National Chiao Tung University in 1996. Currently, he is an associate professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the National Taichung University. His research interests include parallel processing, heterogeneous computing, system architecture, P2P computing, grid computing, and cloud computing. Chen Han Liao received his BS in Electronics Information Engineering from Xi’An University of Technology in 2003. His research topic is data-mining-driven optimization of file system, storage system and data grids. His research includes large scale file system trace analysis, disk energy consumption pattern analysis and file replication strategy design in data grids. Yi-Hsiang Lin received his B.S. degree in information management from National University of Kaohsiung in 2007. Minhua Ma is a Reader in Visualisation & Virtual Reality and Programme Leader for MSc Computer Games Production at the University of Derby. She completed her Doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Ulster in 2005 and MSc in Computing Science from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001. Her research areas include Virtual Reality, 3D visualisation, serious games, and Natural Language Processing. Her principal lines of work have been published in 40 peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as conference proceedings. She has received grants from the NICHSA for her work on Virtual Reality in rehabilitation and a number of other grants for her research in visualisation and games. She has been supervising Ph.D. students in video games, digital watermarking and e-learning. Dr. Ma is an editor of the Journal of Computer Science and Information Technology, guest editor of a number of journal special issues, and has served on the Editorial Board of SJI and numerous conference committees. Gouda Mamdouh obtained his B.Sc. Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Military Technical College, Cairo, Egypt, in 1981. He obtained his Master degree in Spread Spectrum Techniques from Military Technical College, Cairo, in 1985. He also obtained his Ph.D. degree in Spread Spectrum Techniques in May 1998, from the Royal Military College of Science, Cranfield University, England. He is currently an assistant professor at the Electronics and Communications Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Misr University for Science and Technology, 6th October City, Egypt. He supervised and is still supervising a number of research works of graduate students working towards their Masters and Ph.D. degrees. He published 12 papers in the field of communications. Sidonia Mesentean graduated from the Avram-Iancu high school and obtained her degree in chemistry informatics at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. In 2001, she went on to obtain a Ph.D. in bio-informatics at Heidelberg University. Recognizing that a revolution was beginning in the energy world, she changed fields and started to work at a project proposed by the Reinhold Würth University of the Heilbronn University in Künzelsau. Sourav Mukhopadhyay completed his B.Sc (Honours in Mathematics) in 1997 from University of Calcutta, India. He has done M.Stat (in statistics) and M.Tech (in computer science) from Indian Statistical Institute, India, in 1999 and 2001 respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in the area of Cryptology (Computer Science) from Indian Statistical Institute, India in 2007. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Before joining IIT-Kharagpur, he was working as a full time post-doctoral research fellow and part time Lecturer with School of Electronic Engineering, Dublin City University, Ireland. Peter Norrington received his PhD from the University of Bedfordshire in 2009 with a thesis in cognitive authentication techniques, where he currently works as e-PDP Development Officer. Previous to his current role Dr. Oikonomou managed Derby Games Studio, the University of Derby’s commercial games studio and has also worked for the University’s Business Development Unit as Quality Assurance manager. Before joining Derby he was a game development lecturer and researcher at Coventry University and taught games development and interactive multimedia at Coventry City College. He holds a PhD in Educational Multimedia, a Master’s degree in Information Technology for Management and a BSc (Hons) degree in Engineering. His current interests include distributed games, game design, game based learning and assessment, real-time rendering, game engines, interactive multimedia, biomedical engineering and business management. Nikolaos Preve received his BS degree in 2002, his MS degree in 2004 from the electrical and computer engineering department from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, Greece and his PhD degree from NTUA as well. He is specialized in computer and telecommunication networks. He is working as a research engineer in the Telecommunication Laboratory of the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS-NTUA). He has several publications in journals and conference proceedings and serves as a reviewer/member of the technical committee for international journals and conferences. His main research areas include mobile and personal communications, database systems, distributed and parallel computing, grid computing, swarm intelligence algorithms and simulation models. He is a member of ACM and IEEE Computer Society. Juwel Rana is a PhD candidate in Media Technology, in the department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Luleå University of Technology. He received a M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Stockholm, Sweden and joined as a research trainee at University of Trento, Italy in 2007-2008. At the same time, he worked in Create-Net Research Center as junior research stuff and contributed in EU level research projects, such as ONE and OPAALS. Mamunur Rashid graduated from London Metropolitan University and received his MS in Computing Science. He is currently a Ph.D candidate in the Centre for Grid Computing, School of Engineering at Cranfield University. In 2008, he went to European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) as an intern. His research interests are Workflow Computing, storage system and P2P technology. Vijay Sahota received his PhD from the School of Engineering and Design at Brunel University, UK in May 2008. He is now a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Middlesex University. His research interests are in the areas of distributed systems, grid computing specifically on grid information services, scalable peer-to-peer networks. A. I. Amany Sarhan, received the BSc degree in Electronics engineering, and MSc in computer science and automatic control from the faculty of engineering, Mansoura University, in 1990, and 1997, respectively. She awarded the PhD degree as a joint research between Tanta univ., Egypt and Univ. of Connecticut, USA. She is working now as an Assistant Prof. at Computers and Automatic Control Dept., Tanta Univ., Egypt. Kåre Synnes, PhD and assistant professor in Media Technology, is doing research in pervasive computing and multimedia communication. He is an affiliated researcher at the Centre for Distancespanning Technology (CDT) and has more than 45 academic publications in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals. He has also acted as a member of technical program committees for several conferences and has been a reviewer for dissertations at an international level. He has also acted as an expert/reviewer for European projects since 2009 and has since 1995 been involved in European projects such as FP4 MATES, FP5 Roxy, FP5 MediaSite, FP5 MobiHealth, FP6 CogKnow and FP6 Laboranova. Kåre Synnes is also a cofounder of the IST Prize winner Marratech AB, a direct result of the FP4 MATES project, which was acquired by Google in May 2007. Kåre Synnes Kåre Synnes is currently the head of ICT. Geetam Singh Tomar received his Ph. D. degree in electronics Engineering from R.G.P.V. Bhopal. He is presently Principal, Malwa Institute of Technology & Management, Gwalior, India. He is actively involved in research and consultancy with Machine Intelligence Research Labs (USA), India section, Gwalior. His research work is in air interface for cellular and mobile ad-hoc networks, antenna design and fabrication, sensors and sensor networks and underwater communication. Shekhar Verma received his Ph.D. from IT, BHU, Varanasi, India in Computer Networks. He is Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Technology, Allahabad, India. His research area is Computer Networks, Data Aggregation in Wireless Sensor Networks, Networks Security. Bogdan Vrusias graduated with a BSc (Honours) in Computing and IT from the University of Surrey, UK, where he also accomplished his PhD in the area of multimedia and neural computing. He worked for the University of Surrey as a technology transfer associate in data mining and neural networks technologies from 1998 to 2001, then as a research officer for the EPSRC SoCIS project till 2004, followed by his current position as a lecturer in intelligent and distributed systems. He belongs to the Biologically Inspired Modelling and Applications research group and his research interests include neural computing, multimedia information retrieval, distributed systems, business intelligence, image and video analysis, data mining, knowledge representation and management. He has more than 20 international, peer-reviewed publications, he has been the principal investigator of several EPSRC projects, and he is a reviewer of numerous high quality international journals and conferences. Cheng Wu is a Professor of Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, Director of National CIMS Engineering Research Center, and Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He received his B.S. and M.S. from Department of Automation, Tsinghua University in 1962 and 1966, respectively. His research interests include complex manufacturing system scheduling, grid/cloud applications, etc. Sining Wu obtained his PhD in computer science from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Science in 2003. He is currently a research officer for the Centre for Grid Computing at Cranfield University. His research interests include operating system, database system design, Grid computing and high performance computing. He is also a research staff of UK Government EPSRC/ DTI grant “Grid-oriented Storage (GOS)”. Yong Yue is currently Director for Research in Applicable Computing (IRAC) at the University of Bedfordshire and a Professor of Computing Technology. Professor Yong Yue obtained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Northeastern University, China and a PhD in CAD/CAM from HeriotWatt University, Edinburgh. He is also a Chartered Engineer. Professor Yue has led and participated in a number of research and professional projects and collaborative links in 10 countries over the world. He has numerous publications and supervised four PhD students to completion as Director of Studies. His research interest is in the area of computer graphics and virtual reality, CAD/CAM and operations research. Professor Yong is a regular reviewer of several journals and conferences and has served as a guest editor, an associate editor, a scientific program committee member, and a session chair in numerous international conferences. His research covers integrated resource scheduling and management of grid data streaming applications which are more and more popular in science and engineering. Now he is also engaged in cloud computing. Recently, he carries out research and implementation of fine-grained resource allocation for grid and cloud computing with help of control theory based on virtualization technology. 350

Dongliang Zhang, received the MS degree from Jinan University and the PhD degree from Tongji University in 2003, 2009 respectively. He is a postdoctoral researcher of Tongji University and the main interests are parallel computing and simulation. His recent research is focused on large scale traffic flow parallel simulation. Contact him at Department of Computer Science and Technology. Yisheng Zhong received the B.E. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in Control Engineering, Harbin, P.R. China, M.E. degree from the University of Electro-Communications in Electronic Engineering, Tokyo, Japan, and Ph.D. degree from the Hokkaido University in Electrical Engineering, Sapporo, Japan, in 1982, 1985 and 1988, respectively. He worked as a Post-doctorate scholar in Tsinghua University from 1989–1990, and since 1991, he has been with the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, where he is currently a professor. His research interests include robust control, nonlinear control and electromechanical system control.
