About the Contributors Malgorzata Pankowska is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Informatics at University of Economics in Katowice, Poland. She received the qualification in econometrics and statistics from the Karol Adamiecki University of Economics in Katowice in 1981, the Ph.D. degree in 1988, and the Doctor Habilitatus degree in 2009, both from the Karol Adamiecki University of Economics in Katowice. She participated in EU Leonardo da Vinci Programme projects as well as gave lectures within the Socrates Program Teaching Staff Exchange in Braganca, Portugal, Trier, Germany, Brussels, Belgium, in Vilnius, Lithuania, and in Ostrava, Czech Republic. She is a member of ISACA and the Secretary in the Board of the Polish Society for Business Informatics. Her research interests include virtual organization development, ICT project management, IT outsourcing, information governance, corporate architecture, and business information systems design and implementation. *** Julio Angulo is a PhD candidate in Interaction Design for Privacy and Security Technologies at the University of Karlstad, Sweden. His research focuses on the usability and user experience aspects of Privacy Enhancing Technologies as well as the exploration of usable privacy and convenient security methods for mobile and cloud technologies. M. Cecilia C. Baranauskas is a Brazilian Professor and researcher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). She received the ACM Rigo Award (2010) for her lifetime contribution to the Design of Communication field, was entitled Honorary Research Fellow at the Staffordshire University (2001) and Visiting Fellow at the University of Reading (UK). She is one of the authors of the very first book of HCI in Portuguese, has lead several projects in the context of e-Citizenship and e-Inclusion, and has advised more than 40 Master dissertations and PhD theses. Her research interests have focused on HCI issues, particularly investigating different formalisms (including Organizational Semiotics and Participatory Design) in the analysis, design, and evaluation of societal systems. Hassan Bezzazi is a lecturer at law faculty of University de Lille 2 where he is currently Project Manager for the Internet and Informatics Certificate, Legal Professions (C2I-LP). He has a doctorate in Computer Science from University de Lille 1. He led educational activities for nine years in Athens. His main research areas are Information Systems and Law, Artificial Intelligence, and e-Learning. He is member of a number of conference and project evaluation committees. He designed and developed a number of tools related to expert systems and education. He participated in interdisciplinary projects with lawyers on as various subjects as security, data protection, and e-government. His current research activities focus on the design and development of distributed e-learning platforms for interdisciplinary training as well as appropriate training and assessment methods for informal knowledge and competence transfer.

Martin Bílek has been working at the University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry, since 1991. Currently, Prof. PhDr. Martin Bílek is Head of Section for Chemistry Didactics. His scientific and pedagogical activities focus on didactics of natural sciences and technical subjects, especially chemistry (curricular approach, mind maps, learning from graphical presentation, inquiry learning, etc.) and ICT in science and technical education (computer-supported class experiment, Internet in science and technical education, tutorial software, etc.). He is member of many scientific societies and boards (e.g. vice-chair of section Chemistry Education at Czech Chemical Society, member of scientific board of IGIP [International Society for Engineering Education], Member of Czech Association of Pedagogical Research, etc.). He published about 150 research and pedagogical publications. Since 2005, under the auspices of Czech Ministry of Education system of professional development, he has been organizing courses for Czech chemistry teachers oriented to ICT application. Adriana Schiopoiu Burlea is a Professor of human resources management at the University of Craiova, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Romania. Her research interests include computer ethics, corporate social responsibility, online education, human behavior in designing, implementing, and applying IT. She continues to focus on research that explores innovation processes using knowledge, organizational networking perspectives, management skills, competence, and capability. Her research emphasizes a critical, practice-based understanding of the social aspects of knowledge management, and organizations networked relations. She has published more than 75 journal articles and conference papers, as well as numerous books and book chapters in the areas of human resource management, information systems, corporate social responsibility, human capital, and intellectual capital. Lichun Chiang is a professor of the Department of Political Science in the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, and also works for Taiwan E-Governance Research Center as a research fellow. Her research topics are e-government, public administration and information technology, and information ethics. Robert Costello is the ICT Research Assistant having eight years of experience researching personalised e-learning and Web-based technologies. He has a PhD diploma in Computer Science “Internet Computing,” Postgraduate Certificate in Education “PGCE,” and Diploma of Bachelors of Computer Science “Hons.” He is teaching courses in Web-based technologies, script development “PhP & Java Script,” programming languages “VB, C, C++, & Java,” database development, and software system methodologies. He is the Further Education (FE) lecturer in ICT with 7 years’ experience delivering a variety of provision, with additional expertise in the areas of Web-based development, functional skills, and work-based skills. He has been laboratory demonstrator within Higher Education since 2005, which has involved him and permits for assisting in a variety of degree programmes: BSc & MSc “Internet Computing,” Hull University Business School “BSc” IT modules and PhD modules relating to the Graduate School communication skills, qualitative methodologies, research design & practicalities of research, and the successful and effective researcher. Paula Díaz (PhD fellow at City University of Hong Kong, 2012; Degrees in Geography, 2006; MSc in Territorial planning and environmental management, 2008; MSc in Remote Sensing and GIS, 2009). Currently is conducting her PhD research on cost-efficiency in the location of renewable energy farms. She developed research at CREAF and Geography Department of the Autonomous University 381

of Barcelona (2008-2012). She is an expert in quality evaluation of the Metadata on standards like the ISO 19115, ISO 19139. She also has elaborated studies on quality metadata for INSPIRE SDI, regional Spatial Data Infrastructures (IDEC, IDE – CLM, and IDEG), and GEOSS Clearinghouse. Moreover, she has conducted research in different European projects (GEO-PICTURES, EGIDA, and GeoViQua) related to Earth Observation; geospatial servers under WMS, WMTS, and WMS-C; and quality extraction from metadata and data quality analysis. Christophe Feltus is graduated as an Electromechanics Engineer from the Institut Supérieur Industriel des Art et Métiers Pierrard (Belgium). He worked for several years in private companies as: Production Head at Pfizer SA in Jette, Project Coordinator at Nizet Enterprise in Louvain-la-Neuve, and Assessor for the Civil Belgium Aviation Administration in Brussels, Belgium. He joined the Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg in 1999 to work in the field of Service Science and Innovation. There he has taken part in a projects related to IT security, IT governance, and business IT/alignment, and has developed the responsibility modeling theory. Francesco Guerra received his PhD in information engineering at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2003. Since November 2005, he is assistant professor in computer science and he teaches computer science and enterprise information systems. His main research interests include integration of heterogeneous information sources, ontologies, keyword-based search, and the Semantic Web. He contributed to the development of MOMIS, a data integration system. MOMIS has been exploited in the Semantic Web for the creation and the integration of ontologies. He also developed techniques for the identification of “relevant values” among the ones contained in the domain of attributes of data sources. A prototype, called RELEVANT, implementing the technique has been developed. In the keyword search area, he contributes to the development of KEYMANTIC and KEYRY, two metadata-based keyword search systems relying on an extension of the Hungarian Algorithm and on a Hidden Markov Model, respectively. David Hailey has been researching and teaching at Utah State University for 20 years. He researches issues of content quality in complex and complicated information systems. Dr. David Hailey researches and teaches methods for identifying problems with quality (in content, code, and metadata) and methods for repairing them. Heiko Hornung is currently a PhD candidate at the Institute of Computing of the University of Campinas, UNICAMP, Brazil. He holds a degree (“Diplom”) in business informatics from Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany, and a master’s degree in computer science from UNICAMP. His research interests span topics such as electronic government, interaction design, electronically mediated human-human interaction, and universal access to information and knowledge. His current work involves the investigation of pragmatic aspects—intentions, meaning construction, and negotiation processes—of Web-mediated collaboration within online communities. Sudhanshu Joshi is an expert in the area of Supply Chain and Information Systems. He obtained his Masters degrees in Computer Applications and Finance. He did his doctoral in the area of Supply Chain Information systems and subsequently obtained his postdoctoral in Supply Chain Optimization

in Service Industry with special reference to Banking Sector among BRIC nations. Dr. Sudhanshu Joshi has 35 International research paper, 5 books, and 7 book chapters in his name. His area of research is Supply Chain Optimization, Supply Chain Integration, and Modelling. Tomasz Kaczmarek is an assistant Professor at the Department of Information Systems. He graduated in 2002 and received his PhD in October 2006 from the Poznan University of Economics. His main research interest is currently information acquisition and integration from the deep Web, while his secondary interests include: Web services, system design and implementation, markup languages, and Web development (including security aspects). He was involved in several FP6 EU-funded projects: Adaptive Services Grid, TOWL – Time-Determined Ontology Based Information System for Real Time Stock Market Analysis, and SUPER – Semantics Utilised for Process Management within and between Enterprises, as well as national projects. Abdelaziz Khadraoui is a senior researcher at the University of Geneva. He is undertaking teaching and research activities since 2003, at the Institute of Services Science. Dr Khadraoui’s research relates to the engineering of IT-based services with a specific focus on the engineering of e-government services and information systems. He frequently collaborates on IT projects with the Geneva administration (Project “Method for e-Administration,” Project “Modeling-Based Approach for Information Systems Re-Engineering,” Project “Laws-Based Ontology for e-Government Services Construction: The Specification of Services in Relationship with the Venture Creation in Switzerland,” Project “Interoperability Semantics”). He is member of several international conference committees. He is author or co-author of several contributions and publications in the field of e-government services and institutional information systems (re)engineering. Radoslaw Kowal works in the Department of Information Systems, Katowice University of Economics, Poland. His research agenda covers a range of topics including ERP systems, organizational learning, knowledge management, and social software. Currently he is working on his doctoral dissertation which topics include application of enterprise social software in organizational learning. He is especially interested in the role of technology in social collaboration and knowledge management. Besides his work at the university, he has been working as a software developer, building add-ons for ERP systems and as a trainer for MS Office. He is also keen on sports, music, and good literature. Radoslaw received an M.Sc. in Marketing and Management from the Katowice University of Economics in 2000. In 2001, he accomplished a post-graduate course in Corporate Accounts and Finance. Masaaki Kurosu is a professor at the Open University of Japan. He is also a President of HCD-Net (Human Centered Design Network). Based on his career as a usability professional in industry and academia, he proposed a concept of user engineering and is now proposing an ADA (Artifact Development Analysis) and a new concept of UX (User Experience). Before coming to NIME (National Institute of Multimedia Education) that was consolidated to the Open University of Japan in 2009, he was a professor at the faculty of informatics of Shizuoka University. He was formerly working for Hitachi Ltd. at the Design Center and the Central Research Institute. He graduated the Ph.D. course of Psychology at Waseda University. He was born in Tokyo in 1948. Joan Masó (PhD degree by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2012) since 1995, is a researcher at CREAF. Co-creator of the MiraMon compressed map and the MiraMon Map Reader idea in 1997; the first MiraMon technology for Internet distribution. He is a co-developer of the OGC WMS, WFS, and WCS server and client MiraMon technology. He is co-developer of the MiraMon vector data model and metadata profile. He is an active member of the TC of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) since 2003 and the editor OGC 07-057r7 Web Map Tile Standard (WMTS) recently approved and Spanish representative for the current ISO19115 revision process. Coordinator of the GeoViQua FP7 project. President of the Earth & Space Science Informatics EGU division. Damien Nicolas received his M. Sc (Eng. of Computer Science) from the University of Nancy (France). He joined Centre Henri Tudor in 1999 as a research engineer, where he specialized in standalone and Web applications conception and realization. His main areas of research include conceptual modeling of architecture design and interfaces language description. He has supervised the training heading “Study of Automatic Generation of Auto-Adaptive User Interfaces” of a M. Sc student of the University of Luxembourg. He is an expert in the fields of UML modeling and of description languages. He is also responsible of the thematic “Advanced Architecture Modeling” at the Software Engineering Unit of the Centre Henri Tudor and acquired the position of Project Manager. He has participated to several European funded Project Management, among which can be mentioned the ESA project SatN-Surf and EUREKA/ITEA2 project CANTATA as project manager for the Center Henri Tudor. He is currently involved in the AAL STIMULATE project as project manager too. He is member of ACM and IEEE societies. Roberto Pereira is a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and researcher in the Human-Computer Interaction area. He also holds a Bachelor degree in Information Systems, a Master degree in computer science, and has developed and published several works about social software, folksonomies, and the design of computing systems from a social perspective. Currently, he is an invited research at the InterHAD Research Group, and he is investigating a value-oriented and culturally informed approach to design. His research interests are Human-Computer Interaction, Organizational Semiotics, Values and Culture in Design, Social Software, and Software Engineering. Petra Poulová has been working at the University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, Faculty of Informatics and Management, Department of Informatics and Quantitative Methods since 1991. Assoc. Prof. Petra Poulová, Ph.D., worked as Head of Institute of Further Education and Faculty of Informatics and Management from 1998 to 2002, and since 2002, she has been working as a vice-dean for development and international affairs. She is member of boards Czech Association of Distance University Education (2006 -) and EUNIS-CZ (2006 -). Her research activities relate to the ICT-supported process of instruction, e-learning, the distance education, social computing, social networks. She works as a manager, designer, and tutor of online courses, both for university students and lifelong learning. She has been the solver and co-solver of several research international or national projects dealing with elearning and distance education.

Marcin Sikorski (born in Sopot, Poland, in 1956) conducts research in Human-Computer Interaction and usability engineering of software applications, Websites, and on-line services. He is an associate professor at the Gdansk University of Technology, Gdansk (Poland), at the Faculty of Management and Economics, Department of Ergonomics and Maintenance. In his research, Marcin Sikorski combines economic and engineering perspectives to analyzing usability aspects of quality management and design of interactive systems and on-line services. Marcin Sikorski has published 3 books and about 70 papers on various aspects Human-Computer Interaction and User-Centered Design. He has participated in several European projects aimed at improving quality of interactive systems and services. His current projects cover the topics of quality and usability of on-line services for consumers and business users, including corporate intranet portals and back-office applications in particular. In addition to his academic activities, he has also gathered extensive experience in consulting for software companies in the domain of user interfaces design and improving usability of IT systems. Marcel Jacques Simonette currently, is Ph.D. student at Knowledge Engineering Laboratory (KNOMA) - Department of Computer and Digital Systems Engineering (PCS) of Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, a M.Sc.in Electrical Engineering (focused on System Engineering at Sociotechnical Systems); all his titles were obtained in Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo. His Research Areas are the following: Software Engineering, Soft Systems Engineering, Requirements Engineering, and Sociotechnical Systems. Ivana Šimonová has been working at the University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, Faculty of Informatics and Management, Department of Applied Languages since 1997. Assoc. Prof. Ivana Šimonová, Ph.D., focuses on pedagogical research in foreign language teaching and learning, the ICTsupported process of instruction, e-learning, the distance education. Maurizio Vincini received his Laurea degree in Computer Engineer and his PhD in Electronic and Computer Engineer from Università di Modena. He is currently associate professor of Computer Engineering at the Engineer Department of the Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia. Maurizio Vincini teaches Fundamentals of Computer Science II and Lab., Database Technologies and Information Systems at the Engineering Faculty at the Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia. His research activity has been mainly devoted to information management and knowledge representation, with a particular reference to information integration of heterogeneous sources by means of ontologies and representation languages based on Semantic Web. He has published papers in international journals and international and national conferences in the area of Web information integration and virtual enterprises information systems, defining semantic representation models for ontologies. His researches have been funded by national and European Community projects. Dawid Grzegorz Węckowski is a PhD student at Poznan University of Economics, where he received his M.S. in 2010. He works at the Department of Information Systems. His main interests include the Web crawling, data extraction, Web browser automation, and Web user modelling.
