At least one person has to have a certain level of technical ability in case of technical problems such as a flat tire or minor mechanical adjustments.

Welcome briefing and dinner at restaurant (Guided Group Tours only) Day 2 Cesky Krumlov – Trebon (63 km / 39 miles by bicycle). The first cycling day leads through the beautiful hilly landscape surrounding Cesky Krumlov. However, the closer you get to Trebon area, the flatter the landscape becomes. The trail winds along many ponds and man-made lakes, so typical for this region, to Perslak, the most northern point of Austria. You will follow the border with Austria on the Greenways trail passing through Nova Bystrice. From Nova Bystrice the trail will take you through the forests of the National Park called Czech Canada. The day ends in Telc, a Renaissance town registered on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List. Houses on the main square in Telc with facades decorated with typically renaissance graffiti form the best-preserved Renaissance square in the Czech Republic.

Day 4 Telc – Vranov (55 km / 35 miles by bike) Optional tour of Telc chateau in the morning. You will ride through several charming villages typical for this area of the country. We will cycle gently through the region of South Moravia and stay over the night in Vranov which is situated near a dam. Total distance Grade of difficulty:

240 km / 145 miles Easy

Highlights • Prague – capital city of the Czech Republic • Our easiest tour, route leads on river banks and daily distances are shorter • The Czech Middle Mountains – romantic region of former volcanoes • Hiking in Czech-Saxon Switzerland National Park • The largest rock arch in Europe. • Königstein Fortress, Germany • Dresden – there is probably no other town in Germany which better symbolizes the turbulent history of this country Standard tour program Day 1 Prague – Melnik (58-70km / 35-42 miles by bike) Despite the first small ascent, today's stage follows a nice trail to the heart of the Czech wine region the town of Melnik. Just before leaving Prague we pass the Troja Baroque Castle and we continue to the north following the bank of the Vltava River. The river cuts into the ground there, which creates very interesting rock formations and deep valleys. Visits of castles in Nelahozeves or Veltrusy are the biggest highlights of this day. We will end in an old wine town above the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe Rivers – Melnik. Day 2 Melnik – Litomerice (50 km / 31 miles by bike) Today's stage leads us through a calm Elbe region and it is without significant altitude changes. This region is one of the most fertile regions in the Czech Republic. The most impressive stop on today's stage is the massive Terezin fortress from the turn of the 18th century, which illustrates the military architecture of that time. The seamy side of its history is the World War II period. Nazis used this places as a Jewish concentration camp. We will conclude the day in an old town and spiritual center of this region – Litomerice. Day 3 Litomerice – Decin (52 km / 31 miles by bike) Even though the Czech Middle Mountains region is very hilly, we will follow the banks of the Elbe River most of the time and hills with several old-time ruins will surround us. This former volcanic region had always been an ideal terrain for building castles and fortresses.

Day 4 Decin – Czech-Saxon Switzerland – Hrensko / Bad Schandau (25 km / 15 miles by bike) This day will be almost fully optional but always special! In the morning you can decide, whether you prefer biking or sailing to Hrensko. This border town is situated in the heart of the Czech-Saxon Switzerland NP and it offers many attractive activities – hiking trails leading through the scenery of the rocky towns, mesas, passes, deep gorges and hillsides. Special bonus to admire is the wonder of the Pravcicka Gate, no doubt, the biggest natural rock bridge in Europe.

Day 5 Bad Schandau – Dresden (50 km / 30 miles by bike) This day is packed with historical sights! Shortly from Bad Schandau we will see a scary looking Königstein Fortress and just past the curve a beautiful rock formation with a romantic rock bridge and Bastei Ruin. Couple of kilometers down the road, by the town of Pirna, we will enter the region of the Dresden Valley. Day 6 Dresden There is probably no other town in Germany which better symbolizes the turbulent history of this country and shows many centuries of cultural and architectural boom combined with religious freedom and economic prosperity. A short admiration of Nazism was followed by a cruel punishment in the form of the biggest bombing during World War II, which turned almost the entire city into ruins overnight. We can arrange tour guiding services for you or help you to extend your stay.

Day 3 Hluboka nad Vltavou – Pisek (53 km / 32 miles by bike) There is a complex of four dams and therefore the Vltava forms four huge lakes. One of the dams is 91 m high, which makes it the largest dam in the Czech Republic. We will pass nuclear power station Temelin and ride on to Pisek, a picturesque town on the Otava River. The main attraction of Pisek is a stone bridge from 13th century, the oldest in central Europe. Day 4 Pisek – Pribram (58-68-72 km / 36-41-43 miles by bike, distance depends on the route)

This is the longest distance of the tour. You can choose between paved path and partly off-road route. We will pass by Orlik castle, where you can take a tour to see its splendidly decorated rooms. At the end of the day's ride, you will arrive in Pribram. The town has been an important mining centre since the Middle Ages. However, the more recent history of the town is rather chilling. Many political prisoners were forced to work at the Pribram uranium mines during the Communist regime. There is a noteworthy museum of mining. The town also offers a welcoming place to relax – a swimming pool and aqua par. Day 5 Pribram – Zebrak / Zbiroh (Premium option) (37 km / 22 miles by bike) We will visit a 14th - 17th century pilgrimage church with a monastery, Svata Hora (Holy Mountain), working camp or mine museum in the morning. Then we will continue the ride through this picturesque region. We will cycle through an extensive former military area in the beautiful forested hills of Brdy. You will cycle "in the middle of nowhere" on 9 metre-wide paved roads used by the army in the past. Premium option ends at Zbiroh chateau from 13th century where you will stay over a night. Day 6 Zebrak – Karlstejn (42 km / 25 miles by bike) Zbiroh – Karlstejn (48 km / 29 miles, Premium option) We will cycle from Zebrak to the impressive 14th century ruins of Tocnik Castle. The middle part of the day leads through forested rolling hills. Shortly afterwards, we will arrive at Beroun. This is a medieval town in the heart of the Karstejn district with romantic valleys, caves, pits and localities where pre-historic fossils can still be found. The remaining part of the day follows the Berounka River through the romantic valley all the way to Karlstejn village. The premium option starts in Zbiroh and joins the standard route in 11 km at Tocnik Castle. Day 7 Karlstejn – Prague (40 km / 24 miles by bike) Optional visit of Karlstejn castle. The Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV had built it as an impregnable fortress housing the imperial crown jewels and the most sacred relics. The rest of the route is very easy as it leads along both banks of the Berounka River and later along the Vltava River bank. You can easily reach your Prague hotel by bicycle. Prague is surely one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Europe. Day 8 Breakfast, transfer to the Prague Airport to catch your plane, unless you decide to prolong your holiday in the Czech Republic.
