75% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at Grades A* to C 98% of students gained 5 or more GCSEs at Grades A* to G A Level courses had a 99% pass rate with 58% of students gaining A* and B Grades Stefan Webster secured a place at Birmingham University to read Chemical Engineering having gained 3 A*s at A Level in Chemistry, History and Physics Tom Roe achieved 2 A*s at A Level in Biology & Law and an A in Chemistry and aims to study Medicine Pippa Bridges secured a place at Loughborough University to study Industrial D&T having achieved an A* at A level in DT and 2 A’s in Art and Geography Oli Govier achieved an A* in Business and 2 A’s in Biology & Geography at A Level Raewyn Edmondson secured a place at Exeter University to read Biological Science having gained 3 A’s at A Level in Politics, Psychology and Biology Jasmine Reavenall-Nuete secured a place a Bristol University to read Law having gained 3 A’s at A Level in English, History and RE and an A* in her Extended Project Qualification Rebecca Ledden secured a place at Bournemouth University to read Psychology having gained 2 A’s at A Level in Psychology & Sociology and a Distinction* in BTEC Health & Social Care Top achievers at AS (Year 12 students) were Oliver Matthews who secured an A* grade and 4 A grades; Miriam Dudek who secured 5 A grades and Dan Mulryan who achieved 4 A grades and a B The school worked in partnership with Budgens of Broadstone to sell fruit and vegetables grown here at Lytchett by our students

Eighty two students in Years 7 to 11 attended a Gault House reward trip to London where they visited the Science Museum and the London Dungeons Six Year 11 students studying Horticulture visited the Watercress Company to complement their studies Fifty students from Years 12 and 13 competed against each other in a quiz to aid teambuilding Over 300 students proudly showed off their school at our annual Open Evening Twenty five Year 8 students started a 10 week programme of One to One Tuition in English and Mathematics to boost their individual levels of attainment in these Core Subjects

October 2013           

Seventeen Year 10 Drama students took part in a workshop run by the company, Little Soldier, culminating in an evening performance Thirty Year 12 students studying English Literature attended a performance of their coursework text “One Man, Two Guvnors” at the Royal National Theatre, London Thirty two students in Years 10 and 13 attended a talk given by a social worker on children in care and safeguarding to complement their Health and Social Care studies Sixteen Performing Arts students visited the Poole Lighthouse Theatre to undertake an evaluation of the production “Teechers” to complement their studies Six Year 11 students visited Wonnacott Farm to complement the soil science module of their Horticulture studies The Forest Forge Theatre Company performed “Free Folk” in an evening performance All students in Year 8 study coastal processes, landforms and geological timelines on a visit to the Jurassic coast A number of students in Years 8 to 13 attended a performance of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the Poole Lighthouse Theatre Dance Company, Rockit, worked with 15 male students from Years 9, 10, 12 and 13 in a dance workshop culminating in an evening performance Twenty five students identified as Gifted and Talented in PE from Years 7 to 13 attended a team building activity with Rockley Adventure A number of Sixth Form students conducted a tour of the Horticulture site for staff and pupils of the Willow Lodge Montessori Nursery, strengthening links with the community

The Lytchett Public Lecture Series featured Chemistry expert, Professor David Phillips CBE, who gave a presentation on the effects of sunlight Sixth Form students raised over £200 in aid of the Jeans for Genes charity Luke Scriven (Year 10, Portland) was awarded the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Annual School Prize for his excellent work at Key Stage 3 and his commitment and scientific approach in his work for his CREST Award Double Olympic Gold Medallist, James Cracknell OBE, visited the school for a question and answer session with BTEC students Current and past Sixth Form students gathered for an Awards Afternoon to celebrate their academic successes Work created by students studying A Level Textiles, Photography and Art was showcased in an exhibition

November 2013        

Seventeen students in Years 11, 12 and 13 competed in the National Senior Maths Challenge competition and collectively won 5 Silver and 7 Bronze Awards All Year 8 students participated in a series of workshops run by the dance troupe Stomp Five school bands competed and entertained the audience in the Battle of the Bands competition which was eventually won by “The Flaming Zebras” Twenty four students attended a Philosophy enrichment day at Southampton University Thirty five Year 13 Geographers and Biologists visited Poole Harbour to complement their Ecology studies Fifteen students in Year 10 visited Twickenham Stadium to watch an international Rugby match between England and Argentina Fifty Year 10 Business Studies students attended a talk at Farmer Palmers to complement their unit of work on Marketing A variety of charity events including a non-uniform day, cake sales and a sponsored silence raised over £3,800 in aid of Children In Need

            

Student Voice representatives from each of our Pyramid schools met to share good practice and develop leadership skills and to strengthen Pyramid links All students in Year 9 experienced a series of workshops entitled “Blitz” raising awareness of alcohol abuse, fire and rescue and general safety issues Ten Year 13 students attended a talk and guided tour of the Purbeck Ice Cream plant to complement their A2 Business Studies course Twelve students from Year 12 and 13 attended a talk about careers in the NHS at Bournemouth Hospital Four Sixth Form students participated in the Mace Debating Competition at the South Wiltshire Grammar School Twelve Year 12 BTEC students performed at Bere Regis First School as part of their Performing Arts course Ten Sixth Form students participated in the National Theatre Script Writing competition workshop A number of Year 11 students attended a talk about apprenticeships On 11th November, all students took part in a Remembrance Ceremony Margaret Heffernan, international business woman and entrepreneur, delivered a “Business” lecture as part of the Lytchett Lecture Series Sam Whaley (Year 12) was selected by the Royal Yachting Association to join the RYA Volvo Laser Radial UK Youth Squad to represent Team GB A number of Sixth Form students packed bags for customers in ASDA and raised £1,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease charity, MNDA Sixteen Health and Social Care students attended a series of talks from guest speakers including a Public Health Practitioner, a Nursery Nurse and a Midwife to complement their studies Twenty Sixth Form students qualified as First Aiders following an intensive course Twenty four students visited the Emirates Stadium to look at the topic “careers in sport” as part of the Elite Performance enrichment programme

Seventeen students from Year 10 and 11 attended a Royal Navy careers talk All students in Years 7 and 9 participated in a series of dance workshops Nineteen sixth form dance students participated in the BTEC Christmas Show Our Year 12 BTEC Performing Arts students performed at Bere Regis School and Larkrise School as part of their theatre in education unit of work A number of students performed in the Lower School play Daisy Pulls It Off The school Brass Band performed at Sandford Primary School A number of students performed in the school Jazz band, Folk group and string quartet at the Broadstone Community Choir Concert Over 100 students and the staff choir performed at the annual Christmas Concert Over 70 students participated in the annual Carol Service at Lytchett Minster Church Thirty nine Key stage 4 and 5 students visited the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to complement their textiles studies Forty Year 11 students studying Fine Art visited the Tate Modern and Tate Britain Galleries in London A number of students in Years 8 to 13 attended a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concert at the Poole Lighthouse Theatre William Priest (Year 11, Portland) was selected from thousands of entries in the Young Writers competition to have his poem, Times Gone By, published in The Power of Poetry anthology Our Year 7 Girls’ Football Team won the area 7-a-side competition and qualified for the School Games Final

The Year 7 Readathon was launched and students entered a number of reading-related competitions and challenges and raised over £600 for children with long-term illnesses Ten students from Years 9 and 11 and sixteen students in Years 8 and 9 started a 10 week programme of One to One Tuition in English and Mathematics to boost their individual levels of attainment in these Core Subjects Thirteen students from Years 7 to 9 attended the Dorset Leadership Academy and Young Ambassador Conference to enhance their sports skills A number of Sixth Form students attended a lecture on the rebranding of Poole Council to support their AS level Rebranding unit of work Fifty seven students attended a series of workshops run by dance company 3Fall culminating in an evening performance A number of students identified as Gifted and Talented in Textiles attended a gallery tour and pattern cutting workshop at the Arts University in Bournemouth Twenty Sixth Form Historians attended the Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration at Bryanston School A Pyramid Student Voice meeting was held at Upton Junior School, further strengthening our Pyramid links A number of Year 13 Sociology students visited Bournemouth and Poole Magistrates Courts to complement their studies on Crime and Deviance A number of Year 9 students attended a talk presented by a food writer to complement their Food Technology studies

Year 9 Geographers visited the Natural History Museum and the London Eye to complement their studies Thirty seven Sixth Form Geographers carried out their fieldwork to investigate the human impact on and the erosion of the Studland dunes and the regeneration of Boscombe Twenty students from Years 9 and 10 participated in the national Intermediate Maths Challenge Twenty five Sixth Form students attended a Philosophy of Ethics conference at Canford School Jess Burgess of Year 11 competed in her second consecutive final of the Yes Chef competition and was placed second A number of students in Years 7, 12 and 13 attended a question and answer session run by Bishop Graham of Salisbury to complement their RE studies A number of students ran a banana stall to raise awareness of Fair Trade A number of students in Years 7, 10 and 13 competed in the Youth Speaks Rotary Debating Competition Forty Year 8 students attended a series of computer programming workshops All Year 10 students participated in a two week work experience which included placements at a variety of workplaces specialising in avionics, engineering, education, social care and retail to name but a few Colin Summerhayes, Climate Change expert, delivered a lecture on “Melting Ice, Rising Sea – Antarctic climate change and the environment” as part of the Lytchett Lecture Series A number of students performed to sell-out audiences in the Main School Production Hairspray

March 2014              

Thirty five Year 9 students visited the Black Country to complement their History studies on the Industrial Revolution Fifty students from Years 7 to 13 participated in a series of dance workshops run by Twist and Pulse (of Britain’s Got Talent fame) Five Year 13 students attended a Business Studies revision conference in Fulham, London Over £1,700 was raised in aid of Sport Relief; events included a non-uniform day, bracelet sales and a tombola stall One hundred and seventy Year 7 students visited Legoland to observe ICT control and monitoring in action Three Sixth Form students watched a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Poole Lighthouse Theatre to support their Contemporary Shakespeare unit of work Four Year 9 students competed in the Inter-School Rotary Technology competition and achieved first place A number of students attended a lecture given by the Curzon Institute on the Commonwealth contribution to the First World War Nearly one hundred students from Lytchett Minster, Lytchett Matravers Primary, Upton Juniors and Sandford Primary School performed in the Pyramid Music Day Twenty seven pupils in Year 2 and Year 6 from three of our Pyramid schools visited for an afternoon of science activities as part of Science Week A number of Sixth Form students presented their EPQ projects during a presentation evening Three Year 13 students visited Stratford-Upon-Avon to complement their unit of work comparing Elizabethan conditions and contemporary performances Our Year 7 Girls’ Football Team competed in the National Finals and were placed third A number of students showcased their talents in the Sixth Form Variety Show

Ten students in Years 7 and 9, fifteen Year 8 and eleven Year 9 students started a 10 week programme of One to One Tuition in English and Mathematics to boost their individual levels of attainment in these Core Subjects All students in Year 12 attended a Higher Education conference at Bournemouth University to help them prepare for the university application process Eleven Year 13 Physicists visited Greenwich Royal Observatory to complement their A2 Astrophysics unit of work Thirty two students in Years 9, 10, 12 and 13 visited Roche Court Sculpture Park in Salisbury to support their coursework unit Eleven Year 12 students attended a Photography workshop and visited the Gallery at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth to develop their practical and critical study skills Five Year 12 students attended an Oxford and Cambridge University Information Day at Thomas Hardye School Ten Year 12 BTEC students attended a workshop to build a PC to complement their ICT course Our young musicians performed in the Summer Concert Forty three Gault students from Years 7 to 11 were rewarded for their good behaviour and achievement with a trip to the New London Theatre to watch a performance of Warhorse Forty nine students from Years 8 to 11 visited Les Deux Alpes on a ski trip during the Easter holidays Ben de Garis (Year 12) achieved his Grade 7 drum exam, got a distinction and scored 100/100

May 2014         

Nineteen Gifted and talented students in Years 10 – 13 attended a series of development sessions run by Merton College, Oxford Twenty students from Years 7 and 8 competed in the national Junior Maths Challenge competition Twelve students in Years 7 and 8 participated in Jamie’s Live Cooking Lesson as part of Food Revolution Day Twelve Year 10 students studying Horticulture visited the Watercress Company to complement their studies on commercial crop production Over 100 Year 10 Geographers visited Barton-on-Sea and collected field data on coastal erosion for their GCSE controlled assessment work The School Chamber Choir performed with the Gabrieli Consort as part of Purbeck Arts Week Year 11 students celebrated the end of their GCSEs in style at the end of Year Prom at Athelhampton House Alec Cottrell (Year 13) completed the Air Cadets’ demanding and prestigious Qualified Aerospace Instructors’ Course Our Year 12 Young Enterprise team ‘Cube’ were awarded second place in the Dorset finals held at JP Morgan

Forty four Year 9 students participated in a Robotics Day with links to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Three Year 8 linguists attended a study day at Southampton University to enhance their skills A number of students studying Dance and Music attended a series of workshops with baroque super-group, Red Priest, culminating in an evening performance Year 7 students visited the Vedic Society Hindu Temple and Nanaksar Gurdwara in Southampton to link with their India Soul and Sikhism unit of work All students in Year 12 attended a talk from a representative of the University of East Anglia to help them prepare for the university application process Thirty five Year 12 Biologists collected data on a field trip to Kimmeridge and Studland Eight Year 12 students helped out with the running of the Upton Junior School Sports Day Twenty four students in Years 7 to 10 competed in the Manor Mile competition, a sporting event run in conjunction with our feeder schools Year 12 students took part in a number of team building, physical, creative and academically based events during Activity Week including a trip to London, a Dragon’s Den activity and a song writing competition Sixteen students in Years 7 and 8 attended the Music Mash Up Festival run by the Dorset Music Service Thirty four Year 8 students took part in the annual Les Pieux French Exchange visit to Normandy One hundred and sixty six Year 7 students visited Corfe Castle to support their Humanities studies The Senior Band performed at the feeder schools strengthening Pyramid links Eight Year 12 students studying Art and Textiles led an art workshop attended by pupils from our feeder schools Sam Whaley (Year 12) was ranked 4th in the Laser Radial Youth Sailor (Under 18 category) in Great Britain Year 11 students celebrated the end of their GCSEs in style at the end of Year Prom at Athelhampton House Ten students went to Sarajevo, Bosnia on June 28th as part of a 4 day visit to commemorate the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand which has been seen as the "trigger" that started the First World War

Nearly one hundred students from Lytchett Minster, Lytchett Matravers Primary, Upton Juniors and Sandford Middle School performed in the Pyramid Music Festival Forty five Year 10 students took part in a visit to the First and Second World War Battlefields of France and Belgium to complement their History studies. They visited parts of The Somme Battlefields, Vimy Ridge and Thiepval A number of pupils from our feeder schools visited the Humanities department to work on a transition project Over 200 awards were presented to students at the annual Prize Giving Ceremony by special guest Ben Duffy, a renowned sports photographer Ex-student, Mike Percy, returned to school to deliver a talk on ‘Life at University’ to Year 10 students Several of our young musicians succeeded in their Associated Board of Music exams The Folk Group performed to Year 6 pupils at Bere Regis School A number of Gault students in Year 7 were rewarded for their good behaviour and achievement with a team building trip to Bowlplex, Tower Park All students participated in the Festival of Sport Day The iBall exhibition took place and featured a photographic gallery of students’ Art and Textiles work combined with a showcase of media graphics, documentary and drama exhibits A number of Kimmeridge students in Years 7 to 10 went on a team building and reward trip to Splashdown All students, teachers and a number of support staff participated in the annual Sandwalk event raising over £19,500 for Cancer Research UK and the Motor Neurone Disease Association

75% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at Grades A* to C 99% of students gained 5 or more GCSEs at Grades A* to G A Level courses had a 99% pass rate with 58% of students gaining A* to B Grades Top achievers at AS (Year 12 students) were Ben Futcher who secured an A* grade, 3 A grades and a B; Jack Crompton who secured 3 A grades, 2 B grades and a C; and Adrian Hobbs and Mollie Walker who both secured an A* grade, 2 A grades, 2 B grades and a C Daniel Mulryan secured a place at Oxford University to read Chemistry having gained 2 A*’s and 2 A grades at A Level Oliver Matthews secured a place at Oxford University to read Modern Foreign Languages having gained 1 A* and 2 A grades at A Level William Fowler achieved 1 A* and 2 A’s at A Level and secured a place at Southampton University to study Physics Jennifer Evans achieved 3 A grades at A Level and has secured at place at Sussex University to read Law Shelby Bryant secured a place at Manchester University to study Medicine having achieved 3 A grades at A Level Georgia Ludwig who achieved 3 A’s at A Level and Mollie Zsigo who achieved 1 A*, 1 A and 1 B at A Level are both taking a gap year before going on to their chosen universities Miriam Dudek secured a place at Exeter University to read Psychology having achieved 2 A*’s and 2 B’s at A Level Ellie Capron achieved 2 A*’s and 1 B at A Level and has secured a place at Sheffield University to read Architecture The school took possession of a new teaching block, comprising a Learning Support Centre, a Sixth Form Centre and twelve classrooms. It also took possession of six new floodlit tennis courts and three netball courts which will be made available to community users as well as students

Sam Sunderland rides motocross for HRC (Honda Racing Company) and was the winner of the Merzouga Rally in Morocco Tom Wright won the 2013 Rising Star Nomination at the National Digital Awards ceremony in London Peter Warbis was involved in the making of Sherlock Holmes 2, Wrath of the Titans and Iron Man 3 Amy Reith worked with the film production company that made The King's Speech Sam Fowlie qualified, with Distinction, as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Bristol Jack Jenner was appointed as the beat keeper on the Parnham Estate in Beaminster (Jack was in our first cohort of students studying Horticulture) Sam Unsworth completed his Gap Year at the London Head Office of Corporate Law firm, Pinsent Masons. Sam will read Law at Durham University with the aim of specialising in Corporate Law
