Since it's invention in 1879, the light bulb has gone from a modern miracle to an everyday

staple.

While

remained the same:

advanced,

how

lamps

function

has

an electrical circuit is completed, a bulb illuminates, and the

surrounding environment is transformed.

It's at once mundane and practical but at

the same time magical and profound.

The AURA COLLECTION is an exploration into the convergence of light's elemental function and it's ethereal meaning in our lives.

The collection examines the mutually contradictory relationship between a lamp's two core elements: THE SOURCE, a bulb housed by a finely polished metallic housing. THE ILLUMINATION, the lamp's light reflected by a thin brass ring.

When viewed in daylight, these two components appear connected making a basic, unified assembly.

When illuminated in darkness the ring appears as a separate halo

floating mysteriously around the bulb...a graphical manifestation of the important role that a lamp’s function

continues to play in our environments.
