Itsy the Elf was excited. The Christmas rush was over at the North Pole and Santa Claus gave him time off to visit his family in Jacksonville ... Santa even let Itsy ride in his sleigh for the trip home. Under the cover of night, and guided by the lights of the Ferris wheel in Community Park, Santa’s sleigh landed and Itsy got out. He waved as Santa started his journey back to the North Pole. “See you on Dec. 26,” Santa said as the reindeer team flew into the sky. So much to do, Itsy thought. He was used to hard work, but he wanted to make sure this Christmas was the best ever. He decided to ask for some help from his friends in Jacksonville.

His first visit was to JONES MEAT AND LOCKER, where he was able to order everything for the perfect holiday meal. Although elves don’t eat much, there would be a lot of them together, and the people at Jones were able to make sure there was plenty to go around. Itsy stopped at DESTINATION TOYS, where was found justright collectibles and toys for his brothers and sisters. He even found a “Star Wars” figurine to complete his own collection as well as a brand new bike from VILLAGE CYCLERY that will look good under a special Christmas tree this year.

For that special someone, Itsy knew he had to go to KEVIN & CAROLYN DENNEY at PRECIOUS JEWELERS. Come Christmas Day, the twinkle of the diamonds would match the twinkle in the eyes of his hometown sweetheart. Itsy had a feeling sleighs wouldn’t work on the streets of Jacksonville, so he visited JACKSONVILLE AUTO MART and found the perfect ride for his money ... it was even the just-right shade of red he always wanted.

Itsy drove along Morton Avenue, seeing how much the city had changed since he last visited. He saw familiar sights, too: his alma mater, Jacksonville High School, the colleges and the shops. He remembered ALL OCCASIONS FLOWERS & GIFTS and went in to look around. He found everything he needed to decorate his house and make it festive for his guests. All the running around -- not to mention the wind blowing through his hair when Santa brought him to town -- made Itsy realize he should do something with his hair. He went around the corner to WINNER SALON OF BEAUTY and the crew helped give him the hottest new style. He was sure to be the hit of the party.

Tired, but happy, Itsy returned to his house. He poured a cup of hot chocolate and sat down at the kitchen table to catch up on the latest news in the community by reading the JOURNALCOURIER (he even circled a few names to send to Santa’s “naughty or nice” list). He made sure to remember all the sales going on and to find a few community events to attend during his visit home. But he had his own list to make and check twice. Itsy plopped down behind his favorite childhood desk. They seemed much smaller than he remembered, or perhaps it was all the egg nog and cookies for lunch. He called his friends at WADE & DOWLAND OFFICE EQUIPMENT to help him out. He was able to get a new desk and chair and even a printer to help keep track of his tasks.

Finally, it was time to relax and wait for the guests to arrive. He had already called CASSCOMM to make sure he was wired for entertainment. He turned on his favorite cable channel and saw Will Ferrell in “Elf.” His high-speed internet connection let him email his friends back at the North Pole that the movie was on (and to watch for Itsy’s cameo appearance.) Soon, it would be time for a good night’s sleep. It felt good to be home.
