Volume 26 Number 6

May 2012 for 2012. May God guide you in the future as you pursue new direction. You have done us proud, and we are excited about your achievement. I will not be able to make some of them, but I want you to know I am pleased by your accomplishment. I pray that the saints of Progressive Union will stay prayed up. Satan has gotten some licks in and is having his day, but like the song from The Wiz, "You Can't Win...” He is doing his best to keep us from being the representatives Christ expects us to be. I've seen sickness, divorce and conflicts in the lives of persons I never anticipated. Let us stay prayerful and all that God wants us to do. He has blessed us beyond measure, and to him we offer praise. Thank you for a good year thus far. May we endeavor to be a church in the word, making a difference in the world! .

The Pastor’s Corner Rev. Wayne P. Snodgrass, D. Min. "M" is for the many things she gave me... These are the beautiful words to one of the classic songs associated with Mother's Day. When we think of the many things she gave, some of the best that she gave were the intangibles: the looks that Rev. Wayne Snodgrass stopped us from doing wrong, the lectures about life, the hugs that said and meant so much. Now here we are, products of the beautiful lessons we learned and received. I realize that not everyone had such a positive experience, but I pray that God will enable you to go forth and make a difference in the lives of your next generation. I must take this opportunity to offer my continued "Thanks" to all of you who so graciously offer words of encouragement to Lady Evelyn, my mother, and me. I admire their strength and courage as well. When I got the word that my mother had fallen and broken her hip, I was amazed to get to her house and see her sitting in a chair. I later discovered she had fallen on the other side of the room, and crawled to the chair. Lady Evelyn has been a trooper as well. I remember the days of her praying out loud, and saying, "I want to live!" Although she continues to lose weight, she has exhibited that strength that says, "I want to live." She does, daily, whatever she desires to do. She goes shopping, cooks, cleans and does some knitting. I truly thank God for the women in my life: my mother, and the mother of my son. If you want to follow weekly updates on her situation, http://carepages.com/carepages/samson. You can also get background on what brought us to this point. I want to take time and congratulate the graduates

Making a Difference in the World (Part 17) Have you given much thought as to the legacy you’ll leave to those who comes after you? When you were born you cried and the world rejoiced. Live so that when you die the world will cry and you will rejoice. God in his concern for mankind gave Abraham a covenant to live by. Abraham passed this down to his sons. God’s covenant was passed down through generations even until the days of Moses. In the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 29, God renews this covenant with the Jews. Jews used the phrase: The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when acknowledging God. Every third Sunday we recite the Church Covenant, there is a part that states: ‘to maintain family and secret devotion and to religiously educate our children, to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances’. If we faithfully do this we can save this generation of loss children.

School Days Justin R. Matthews, a Mechanical Engineering major at Mississippi State University (MSU) and son of Roderick and Brenda Matthews, begins his summer studying abroad at the University of Surrey in Guilford, United Kingdom. A total of eleven students from MSU will travel to Europe to study Satellite Imaging of the Earth. He will be in country from May 11 - June 3. Once he returns from Europe he starts his final co-op rotation at Shaw, Inc in Dalton, Georgia. He begins his senior year January 2013. Please keep him and the others in your prayers as they travel to Guilford, UK. Mya Hamilton has been on the ‘A/B’ Honor Roll the entire school year. Mya is a 7th grade student at Meridianville Middle School. On May 7th, Mya Hamilton will be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. This is a big accomplishment for Mya and I’m (her mother) very proud of her. In school she played basketball and she also played basketball for the Southern Starzz travel basketball team. Mya is a part of the Youth Choir at PU. Mya is the daughter of Tonya Hamilton and Christopher Hamilton.

Testimony My parents involved their children in Sunday school, Bible Class, and Church Worship from an early age until we reached adolescent. We read biblical story books as well as the Bible. The family ate all meals together, watched TV together, and on Sunday evening socialized together, which included going over school homework. Now at the ages of 89 and 87 my father and mother has raised eleven children. Five of these children have from work retired and the other six have good jobs, education, and work faithfully in Church. Now they are helping raise their great grand children and great-great grand children in the same manner. Their oldest son is a Minister, and two grandsons are Ministers. What a legacy to live! With our one to four size families, let us live such a legacy with our children and acquaintances. Then we can leave a good legacy from generation to generation and start: “Making a Difference in the World”.
