Busy, Busy, Busy!!! That’s what I am hearing and what I am experiencing personally. WOW! What a ride this year has been so far. But as a Realtor, that has experiences both the ups and downs of this crazy market, I am here to say “Bring ‘er on!”. Lovin’ the craziness of this busy season. According to the June issue of
the REALTOR Mag, homes are spending less time on the market. 45% of the homes that sold in May were on the market less than a month, according to the National Association of Realtors. Average properties in May stayed on the market for 40 days. Up from 39 days in April, which still marks the 3rd shortest time since NAR began tracking days on the market, in May of 2011. Survey showed that properties were selling in some of the shortest times-within 30 days-in Colorado, the District of Columbia, California, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, North Dakota, and Kanas. Properties that were on the market for some of the long-
July 2015 est times-more than 90 days-were Maine, New Hampshire, West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Have you ever had one of those days when you’re holding a stick and everyone looks like the piñata? J Truth is, I think we all have. J That’s when you know you’re busy J UPDATE on the merger with Grants Pass Association is as follows: They had their meeting to pursue negotiations with DCAR, all 100% voted in favor. Negotiating committees now need to get together and see what they can come up with. John Wallace, CEO of OAR has received verification that he can act as our facilitator (no fees for his service) as long as the merger does not get too complicated or confrontational (either with DCAR/GPAR members or from and other neighboring association) at that point he would need to step aside and he would help find another facilitator for us to work with. So, YES, we are inching forward with the merger. SUCCESS…SUCCESS…SUCCESS! That is what we will call the FUN-DRAISER CHARITY Golf Tournament that was held on July 24th at the Sutherlin Umpqua Golf Resort this year. Lots of volunteers, time, stress and patience’s
was experience by many, with great results. A fun day with a great turn out. What more could we ask for? We had a total of 18 teams, the winning team was Mary Gilbert, Brad Seehawer, Bradley Seehawer & Brian Winters. Ball drop winners Cody Peterman, Daniel Billick, and Jody Tatone. $ 5350.00 +/- was earned at last count. Prizes were amazing and so appreciated. Special “Thank you” to all prize donators. Our earnings will be shared by the Special Olympics of Douglas County and Nursing & Science Building at UCC. Kerry Jo Edwards and her wonderful PR committee has sure worked hard for us this year and they are so very much appreciated. For all participants of the Golf Tournment…Thank You! Your participation did not go unnoticed. Please remember to turn your telephone to silence/vibrate mode at “all” education classes. It has been noticed that several people are spending their education time…web surfing and playing around with their telephones which shows a lack of respect to the leader/speaker, as they teach their class. Many hours of preparation goes into leading a class, so please do not dishonor our speakers by being entertained with your telephones. HAPPINESS isn’t about getting what you want all of the time. HAPPINESS is about loving what you have and being grateful for it. Until next month, Lou Ann Osborn President, Douglas County Association of Realtors
RMLS Advisory Report Mark & Janet Hilton July 2015 RMLS is making some changes to Reverse Prospecting that allow users to use Map Search for reverse prospecting – that should be available on July 18th. In October or November we should be able to upload up to 24 photos. They will not have to be resized, you will be able to load them from an iphone or Android and will have the ability to rotate them. Apparently some agents in some areas have been using the SentriSmart app on their phone to get an access code, then giving it to buyers so they can get in on their own. This has been discovered when someone found buyers inside a home, with no agent accompanying them. Obviously this is a serious offense, and there could be a fine of $2,500. and the agent could even lose their access to RMLS.
If I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER By Erma Bombeck (Written after she found out that she was dying from cancer) I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren’t there for the day. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose BEFIRE it melted in storage. I would have talked less and listened more. I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the soda faded. I would have eaten the popcorn in the “good” living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth. I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been fixed and sprayed. I would have sat on the lawn enjoying getting grass stains. I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life. I would never have brought anything just because it was practical, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime. Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I’d have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle. When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, “Later…Now go get washed up for dinner.” There would have been more ‘I love you’s more “I’m sorry’s”. But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute; look at it and really see it; live it and give it back. STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF! Don’t worry about who doesn’t like you, who has more, or who’s doing what. Instead, let’s cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us…
