Rail passengers can benefit immediately from the modern, responsive booking platform, which includes detailed route information, photos and videos. Furthermore, tickets for a trip on the largest transalpine railway network in Switzerland can now also be booked on mobile devices. Travellers benefit from the modern, user-friendly booking and information platform, which makes the reservation process significantly easier and brings people to their destination even more quickly. The relaunch of the website provides RhB with a decisive competitive advantage in the market. The website is also available in several languages, making it accessible to international markets such as China and Japan. Planning your journey on our all-in-one platform is now a more exciting, intuitive and diversified experience," explains Reto Schmid, Head of Marketing Communications and E-Business at RhB. "The new website reflects the latest market requirements, addresses a larger target group, and increases the attractiveness of the Rhaetian Railway." Highlights of the new online presence The new concept is intended to inspire and involve customers more in the decision-making and booking process through a combination of photos, videos and experience maps. Customers can use a customised Google map to virtually follow the booked route online and view all recreational activities in the area. It is an innovative tool that helps travellers plan their journey and find out about the wide range of activities available. The entire website is responsive, enabling RhB to cater to the latest market requirements and present itself optimally across all digital end devices. The ever-increasing use of mobile devices to access websites means that its essential to develop a content concept and responsive website that inspire customers and allow them to book tickets quickly and simply. In addition to rail tickets and seat reservations, transport.opdendata.ch also ensures that journeys from Swiss train stations can be planned and booked with the online travel plan at www.rhb.ch. Intelligent data evaluation also enables targeted marketing measures to be carried out in connection with the booking, thereby increasing customer involvement. Another highlight of the new platform is the updates on the current state of operations – this informs travellers about disruptions and construction works, enabling them to change their journey plans accordingly. „We still have many other ideas for the website, such as e-tickets that customers do not have to print out before the journey. We will develop and implement this in cooperation with Unic, says Reto Schmid.

Responsive booking platform with major potential Unic was awarded the contract following a public invitation to tender for the project and rose to the challenge, developing the modern website concept in collaboration with RhB. Unic applied its extensive expertise in the fields of consultation, conception, design, implementation, digital analysis, hosting and operation to provide RhB with a competitive, modern booking platform that attracts new customers, provides a long-term basis for success and increases online sales. The responsive design was tested in the Unic device lab, ensuring that the display is exactly right for every mobile end device. Setting up the project management structure according to SCRUM facilitated an intensive, transparent partnership between the teams at RhB and Unic. The back-end functions with interface technology for ticketing and seat reservations were carried out by Elca AG (Zurich) and Infosystem AG (Wil, St. Gallen). The usability tests were conducted by soultank AG.
