Software This document was produced with compatibility for QuickTime Viewer 7 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 9. However, this document is expected to remain compatible with future QuickTime Viewer and Adobe Acrobat Reader versions as the latest software updates are released. Document Organization & Navigation The List of Terms and the VR Terminology Dictionary are grouped by category, then further organized alphabetically within each category. Each term listed is linked to a page with the term, its definition, a context sentence, and a video that includes the fingerspelled word, ASL sign and the signed context sentence. Simply click a term in the list to be redirected to that term’s page. The video will start automatically when the page opens. To control the video, pass your cursor over the bottom of the video box to activate the hidden control bar. Use the arrow buttons beneath the video to navigate through the current category, or click the “Home” button to be redirected back to that section’s List of Terms. Adobe’s Bookmarks feature on the left-side panel can also be used for navigating to and from any page on the disc. Signs for VR Terminology Because language is dynamic (ever changing) and regionally specific, some of the signs used in this document may not be the locally or currently accepted expressions. Specifically, there are multiple signs for expressing “Vocational Rehabilitation.” In this document, we have chosen to use primarily “VR” and “REHAB” fingerspelled. Please note that this document is meant to guide and educate, but that locally accepted/used signs should be used in place of those shown in these videos. This project is not all inclusive, though we endeavored to include a comprehensive list of terms that would be beneficial to the user. We have made every effort to include commonly-used signs and to not be influenced by regional variances.
