Increase of flight time necessitates redoubling the needs of aircraft maintenance and parts. Especially Asia Pacific and CIS region are one of the niche examples of it. Since the operators need to replace their local produced fleet with the western made ones (Boeing-‐Airbus) there will be a huge demand of spare parts to support their fleet. The IATA 20 year forecast growth for Asia is 4.9 % annual growth, making it the largest world-wide passenger market by 2030. The domestic markets of China and India grew with 11% and 20% respectively in 1Q2015. The growth in the region makes China the world-wide largest domestic passenger market by 2030, surpassing the US with India in third place. The highest growth markets are China, India and Indonesia. Countries like Thailand and Malaysia are struggling with low demand at present. This phenomenal growth causes strain on the whole civil aviation eco-system. Consequently the region is fighting the lack of soft and hard infrastructure, such as shortages of trained pilots, traffic controllers,

adequate airport infrastructure; and congested airspaces and have record order backlogs for aircraft. On the aircraft supply side all present OEMs are present but there is also a growing presence of the local suppliers. Mitsubishi Aircraft presented the progress of the MRJ regional jetliner and COMAC aircraft has several representatives at the venue.

A BRIEF LOOK AT ASIAN AVIATION MARKET Asian civil aviation has come from a low number of state owned mainline carriers to an ultra-dynamic market with exponential growth of all operator variants over the last 20 years: • 2010, a minor number of aircraft were transitioned / retired in the region; • for 2015 a full 520 aircraft out of an Asian fleet size of 6300 aircraft will transition / retire during the year; • this will almost double in the next five years to 1000 aircraft by 2020; • it will be at 1700 aircraft in 2025. The Asian airliner market is maturing from youngster to middle age. Such life-state transitions carry its problems, the home for the elderly being one. Air traffic growth in the region has been phenomenal and as a result aircraft fleets have been young. Any elderly problem has not been important. The first sign of this market transitioning into mid age maturity is there, the taking care of older aircraft is part of it. Rules and procedures for adequate life-time management for the regions fleets need to be reemphasized and airlines need to plan accordingly.
