Pregnancy Risk Factor: A Breast Feeding Recommendation: Compatible Usual Dose: Treatment and prevention of vitamin B6 deficiency up to 150 mg/day. Sideroblastic anemia: up to 400 mg/ day. Vitamin B6 deficiency: (deficiency due to isoniazid) 30 mg/day oral maintenance dose. Polyneuropathy, Peripheral; Treatment and Prophylaxis: (prophylaxis) 25 to 50 mg orally daily. Adverse Reaction: Severe peripheral neuropathies (with long-term admin of large doses). Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to pyridoxine products. Drug Interaction: Isoniazid, penicillamine and oral contraceptives may result in greater requirement in pyridoxine dose. Reduces the effects of levodopa, phenobarbitone, altretamine and phenytoin.

Adverse Reaction: IV: Warm sensation, tingling, pruritus, pain, urticaria, weakness, sweating, nausea, restlessness, tightness of the throat, angioedema, respiratory distress, cyanosis, pulmonary oedema, GI bleeding, transient vasodilation and hypotension, vascular collapse. IM: Tenderness and induration. Potentially Fatal: Very rarely, fatal anaphylactic shock. Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to thiamine products. 335 Vitamin D 88:16 post-op or idiopathic hypoparathyroidism, pseudohypoparathyroidism, as an adjunct to the management of tertiary hyperparathyroidism, vit D-resistant rickets or osteomalacia, vit D-dependent rickets, neonatal hypocalcaemia or rickets, malabsorption of Ca, malabsorptive and nutritional rickets and osteomalacia.
