Before using your button maker, read the following: Please read the Operator’s Guide to familiarize yourself with the machine parts, the operating instructions, and troubleshooting and maintenance tips. Keep the Operator’s Guide with the machine for use by anyone unfamiliar with its operation. CAUTION Damage can occur to the machine if the operating instructions are not followed. We cannot guarantee the results of the finished buttons if button parts other than ours are used.

Each machine is supplied with one Magnetic Ring and one Punch (see picture below) which are necessary to the operation of the machine. Prices for ring and punch replacements can be obtained by calling our office. Their functions are detailed later in this guide. Choose a level, sturdy working surface for the machine. It can be bolted to the working surface through the ears on the base of the main casting.

If problems develop during the operation of this machine, STOP MAKING BUTTONS and call 1-800-777-0111 for assistance. Unless noted, do not attempt to service this machine yourself. Modifying the machine will void the warranty.

Parts and Operation Overview The 2-Station Rotary button maker is designed with two base dies mounted on a table. One die is marked with an “S” and the into marked with a “B”. These dies work in conjunction with the top die assembly to make one button. Button components are loaded into the base dies. The table is moved back and forth, and the handle is pushed down. A Stop Pin, located on the main casting behind the table, ensures correct positioning on the table before the handle is pushed down.

CAUTION Damage can occur to the top and base dies if they are not on line when the handle is pushed down. CAUTION Use extreme caution to avoid personal injury or damage to the machine. If a button component should become jammed in any of the dies, turn to the troubleshooting section on page 7 for help in removing them.

Operating Instructions

To start, rotate the table counter clockwise until the base dies are in the position shown in the picture to the right. The die marked “S” should be on the left side of the machine.

Load into the base die marked “S” the following: one Front Shell (sharp edge down), one Paper Insert, and one Clear Plastic Disc. For correct alinement of the finished button, the top of your artwork should point toward the spring on the edge of the die. STOP - If making photo buttons, see “Hints for Making Photo Buttons” on the back cover.

Rotate the table clockwise until the loaded shell die stops directly under the top die assembly. The Stop Pin will ensure correct alinement of the top and base dies.

STOP PIN The Stop Pin is located behind the Table on the Main Casting. See “LEFT SIDE VIEW” illustration on page 3.

While holding the table against the Stop PIn, Push down on the handle until the top and base dies snap together. Bring the handle back to its upright position.

Load into the base die marked “B” the following: one Pin Back with the sharp edge up. Line the two holes in the Pin Back with the two notches on the edge of the die.

Rotate the table counter clockwise until the table stops against the Stop Pin.

While holding the table against the Stop Pin, push down on the handle until the top and base dies are squeezed together. Bring the handle back to its upright position. DO NOT LET THE HANDLE SNAP BACK TO ITS UPRIGHT POSITION

Rotate the table counter clockwise until the base die containing the finished button is on the right side of the machine. Use the magnetic ring to remove the finished button. Repeat steps 1 through 6, loading and unloading the lower dies in the same sequence. When you become familiar with the machines operation, you will develop a pace and steady rhythm that will be comfortable for you.
