In Switzerland, Emmi focuses on the development, production and marketing of a full range of fresh dairy products as well as the production, ageing and trade of primarily Swiss cheeses. The emphasis in fresh products is on lifestyle, convenience and health. In the cheese business, Emmi positions itself as the leading company worldwide for Swiss cheese. Net sales amounted to CHF 2,981 million in 2012. As at 31 December 2012, the company employed just over 5,000 people worldwide. Dating back to 1953, Emmi’s Kaltbach caves are located deep under Mount Santenberg, in the Canton of Lucerne.
