Mistake #1:

Prescription medication is the ultimate solution to treating disease… Healthcare costs now exceed $1.2 trillion dollars per year and over 2.9 billion prescriptions are being written each year – just in America! Consider these facts: There is a massive trend of people seeking “alternative” treatments – non-prescription methods to solve your health problems. In fact, in a recent study by the American Medical Association (AMA), there were 37 million more visits to alternative practitioners in a single year than all the visits to conventional medical doctors. The AMA report was a “heads up” to their doctor members because of another shocking fact: 60% - more than half of you receive alternative forms of treatments and NEVER TELL YOUR DOCTOR. Why is it that so many people now seek out alternative treatments? Our ancestors knew little or nothing about staying well… You’d like to believe that with all of our advances in medical research and technology that today’s medicine must be the most advanced; the best since humans walked the earth. Unfortunately, we don’t have the kind of track record you might expect. In fact, American medicine is NOT the best and most effective today – just the most expensive. And, then there’s the studies performed many years ago by Doctors Price and Pottenger. These two dentists became frustrated with the recurring dental decay in their patients and began researching more primitive, isolated cultures around the world. Their startling findings can basically be summarized this way: when native people ate their locally grown foods, they were disease free! The World Wide Web can become overwhelming and it’s not hard to find media articles and news specials on fraud, misinformation, etc. tied to a website. In fact, the subject of healthcare is one of the most popular reasons people search the web and not surprising, also one of the most common areas of fraud on the web. The exciting new benefit of the Internet is that it provides you, the consumer, with your own personal access to information 24 hours daily, 7 days a week. You have speedy access to a vast amount of knowledge and today, more than ever, “knowledge is power”. Doctors are beginning to serve their patients more effectively using the Internet as a new mode of communication and information. You can do searches on the Internet into legitimate medical databases and access summaries of studies from recent research worldwide. The Internet, used wisely, is your newest tool to taking greater control of your health and well being.

Mistake #4:

It’s always very risky to try alternative methods of treatment… You’ve already seen how risky drug treatments can be (causing twice as many deaths as breast cancer). And, the good news is that just a few years ago, the American Medical Association surveyed its own doctor members to find out how they felt about alternative forms of treatment. Their findings were very comforting: 60% of the primary care physicians surveyed recommend alternative treatments and 47% use alternative therapies on themselves. Recent research reported that 75 of the 125 major medical schools in America teach alternative therapies. This list included such prestigious schools as Harvard Medical School, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, John Hopkins and Mount Sinai Schools of Medicine.

What you eat has little or nothing to do with how you feel… It won’t take you long to discover the proven link between what you eat and how you feel. It started way back with the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates when he observed thousands of years ago and noted his profound findings that one person’s food was another’s poison. And, fast forward to present times where you can use a search engine on the World Wide Web – enter a phrase like “diet and disease” and you’ll find over 923,000 different references! And, that’s just the Internet. Open virtually any magazine or newspaper, watch most any TV channel and it won’t take long to find an advertisement, health-breaking news or research announcement – all linking what you eat with how you feel.
