A MESSAGE FROM OUR CO-CHAIRS As co-chairs of the prestigious American Cancer Society San Diego Distinguished Events Weekend, we take great pride in leading the effort to create closer ties between the San Diego business and social communities and the American Cancer Society. Today, there are nearly 14.5 million cancer survivors in the United States. While we have made great strides in the fight against cancer, there is still an immediate need for your financial support. Consider this: in the US, one in two men and one in three women will develop cancer in their lifetime, and more than 1,600 people will die each day unless we find a way to stop this disease. Your support matters. Because of donors and sponsors like you, the American Cancer Society leads the way as the largest private, not-for-profit funder of cancer research. The Society funds and conducts research that helps us better understand, prevent, and find cures for cancer. Your support also helps the Society provide critical services to patients and their families like rides to treatments, patient lodging, and emotional support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In San Diego County last year, the Society invested more than $10 million in research grants and provided programs and services to more than 2,600 patients. Both the Discovery Celebration Gala and the San Diego Invitational helped make this possible by raising more than $2.4 million in the past 10 years. We invite you to join us at the US Grant on Sunday, May 31, and at La Jolla Country Club on Monday, June 1, for a fun-filled weekend of golf, celebrations, and fundraising. Please be as generous as you can. Come participate in these tremendous events, commit yourself to the fight against cancer, and make a positive difference in our community. Thank you for your support. Kay Coleman Partner, FCB Partners & Del Mar Venture Group, LLC Brian Verdugo CEO, L1 Technologies, Inc.
