Dominar dos lenguas extranjeras en los niveles C2 y B2 del Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas desarrollando competencias interpersonales, sociales e interculturales. To reach a good command of two foreign languages (at levels C2 and B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) whilst developing interpersonal, social and intercultural skills. Conocer explícitamente el sistema lingüístico de las lenguas del grado en su vertiente sincrónica y diacrónica. To have explicit knowledge of the linguistic systems of the languages studied in the degree from in synchrony and in diachrony. Analizar y sintetizar mensajes y adaptarlos a las distintas situaciones comunicativas usando los recursos lingüísticos, retóricos y literarios adecuados. To analyze, summarize and adapt messages to different communicative

Reconocer los distintos tipos de discursos orales y escritos y su estructura. To recognize different written and oral discourse types and their structure. Conocer los aspectos definitorios de las lenguas del grado desde un punto de vista contrastivo. To know the main characteristics of the languages studied in the degree, from a contrastive point of view. Conocer el funcionamiento formal y pragmático del lenguaje humano. To know the formal and pragmatic use of human language. Distinguir normas y usos lingüísticos y saber analizarlos.

1.12. Contenidos del programa / Course contents This is a remedial course that aims at helping students to achieve a C2 level by the end of their studies. Although the contents of the course will be adapted to the particular needs of the students, it will touch on the following language skills: •

Reading: reinforcing reading skills introduced and developed in other subjects of English Language (guessing words from context, understanding clues, reading between the lines).



Writing: reinforcing writing skills introduced and developed in other subjects of English Language.



Listening: reinforcing listening skills introduced and developed in other subjects of English Language (understanding clues, differentiating sounds). Speaking: reinforcing speaking skills introduced and developed in other subjects of English Language (pronunciation, intonation, speaking in public).



The work on these four language skills will be supported by further study of vocabulary and those grammar aspects the students have not mastered and by exercises to develop their linguistic competence.

Métodos docentes / Teaching methodology

The course will use different teaching methodologies: 1. Theoretical sessions: They will focus on the explanation and development of the course content. These sessions are face-to-face and compulsory. 2. Practical sessions: They complement the theoretical sessions and provide practice of the theoretical content presented. They are compulsory and will help the students prepare for the assessment exercises that will be carried out during the semester. 3. Blended learning (Moodle and other platforms): Students will have access to the materials which will be available in the Moodle platform and/or other platforms. 4. Tutorials (also online): Students can contact their teachers concerning any aspect of their learning process. 5. Independent study time: students will need to be very constant in their work and strict with the time and effort they devote to this subject.

Métodos de evaluación y en la porcentaje calificación final / Evaluation procedures and weight of components in the final grade

This course will be assessed through continuous assessment ONLY. However, in order to pass the subject, students must have at least 5 (out of 10 marks) in each of the different components listening, speaking, reading and language use. Ordinary Exam Continuous assessment: 50% tasks in class (listening, reading, speaking, use of English); 20% oral presentations; 30% final mock CAE (will test language in use, listening, and reading) Re-sit Exams Continuous assessment (not recoverable): 50% of final grade Final assessment: 50% of final grade
