6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS

Visit the Dordogne with Trek Travel, and discover ancient France. Prehistoric caves and medieval châteaux provide a window into the past, from Cro-Magnons to mighty knights. Standing before magnificent cabe paintings of bison dating from 12-45000BC, it’s almost impossible to believe that you are so close to art created by people so long ago. Canoeing the river that wends through the region, in the quiet, you sense the potential for the dangers that lurked during the Hundred Years’ War in this wooded and mysterious area. Life still moves slowly here, but the focus has shifted to the simple pleasures like eating, drinking and relaxing. Enjoy riding at your pace on deserted roads, sheltered from the sun by lush forests. Escape to this magical corner of France and enjoy the road less traveled on your vacation of a lifetime. • Ride on quiet tree lined roads, through medieval villages, and along the peaceful Dordogne River. • Savor the local dishes of duck magret served with delicious cepes mushrooms at our one-starred Michelin restaurant. • Marvel at the medieval fortress of Beynac • Visit the only cave in the world open to the public featuring prehistoric polychrome paintings. • Canoe along the Dordogne River with castles clinging to the limestone rock overhead. A bientôt!

ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS Dordogne | Luxury |

6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS

LODGING In every region we travel, we uncover the area’s best, and most delightful accommodations. On our Dordogne trip, you will stay in stellar accommodations with personalized service. Le Vieux Logis | Trémolat, France A member of the Relais & Châteaux collection, this high-standard hotel has been in the same family for over 450 years. Originally a simple tobacco barn, the building was renovated under the close eye of Mrs. Giraudel (the current owner’s mother). She transformed the property into a first-class hotel at a time when tourism in the Périgord was only just beginning. Although the house has been fully redecorated, it has never lost any of its original cachet. Every book, every piece of furniture and every armchair is original and holds its individual story, some four centuries old. Tremolat | +33 (0)5 53 22 80 06 | www.Vieux-Logis.com Hotel Clos la Boetie | Sarlat, France Perfectly located in the center of the charming and lively town of Sarlat, the hotel owners recently converted their family home into an intimate and luxurious four-star hotel. The hotel artfully combines traditional elegance and comfort with stunning fabrics and bold colors. You will feel at home relaxing by the pool or having a drink in the salon. 95-97, avenue de Selves | +33 (0)5 53 29 44 18 | www.ClosLaBoetie-Sarlat.com Château de la Treyne | Souillac, France The castle is ideally located overlooking the Dordogne River, surrounded by grounds embellished by a French formal garden, rare species of trees and ancient cedars. The swimming pool will provide a relaxing and refreshing break, while the Michelin starred restaurant will replenish your energy in French gastronomic style.

DINING Trek Travel scopes out unique and delicious dining locations, and we usually leave at least one meal for you to explore on your own. If you have any special dietary preferences, be sure that you have informed your Trek Travel Trip Consultant before you leave for your trip. We will do our best to accommodate your dietary requests. On our Dordogne trip, prepare to enjoy the finer things of life—great food, great wine and wonderful atmosphere! Its most famous products—black truffles and foie gras—are the cornerstones of the superlative French cuisine. It is no surprise that this area is regarded by the French themselves as “the best place to eat in all of France.” Street corner boulangeries provide fresh-baked breads and an array of pizzas and croissants. Travelers should have minimal problems with vegetarian diets in France.
