Millenia have passed since the Mayan culture thrived amongst the jungle and shores of modern-day Cancun. A highly intelligent civilization with precise understanding of agriculture, astronomy and math, the Mayans devised a complex hieroglyphic alphabet and charted paths of the moon and stars. Remarkable archaeological sites can be found within a 2 hour drive from Cancun’s hotel zone, including the seventh wonder of the world, Chichen Itza, and the ancient city of Coba. Opportunities to reach new horizons exist everywhere in Cancun, as the surrounding ecotourism and adventure lets you experience and commune with nature like no place else. In fact, natural pursuits alone draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to Cancun each year. That’s no coincidence. Because these jungles, waters, reefs and habitats are impeccably preserved and maintained – and because use of them is carefully regulated – they remain available for exploration. Cancun is home to leading eco-archaeological parks where nature and recreation blend seamlessly. Xcaret offers more than 25 attractions, including a Mayan village and underground river, coral reef aquarium, snorkelling inlet and tropical jungle path. At Xel-Ha, the world’s largest natural aquarium, you can swim with dolphins, dive, ride the jungle train and more, all in a collection of coves, lagoons, sinkholes and caves. Encounter howler monkeys, macaws and toucans and other gloriously colored exotic birds. In the turquoise waters off Cancun, you’ll swim with dolphins and perhaps catch a glimpse of a whale shark. These dramatic environments set the stage for your experience. All of Cancun’s natural wonders are yours to experience. Page 2
