3M™ Fibre Disc Back Up Pads • Ribbed grinding face on the back-up pads improves the cut rate of the fibre discs and allows the operator to use less pressure on the work piece. • Retaining nuts to suit either metric or imperial threaded tool systems are supplied with every back up pad. • Each pad is packaged individually and ready for retail stores.

3M™ Centre-Pin Contact Disc Pads • Centre-Pin Attachment System contributes to a reduction in tool vibration by centring, securing and maintaining the disc in the correct position on the back-up pad. • Strong T-Hooks on the face of the pad will securely hold surface conditioning as well as light grinding and blending discs, while the centre-pin will significantly reduce the risk of disc “fly-off” from the back-up pad. • The centre-pin is designed not to interfere with the work surface, allowing the disc to be used in the same method as it is now.

3M™ Roloc™+ Quick Release System 3M™ Roloc™+ system offers a broad range of 3M abrasives for use on die grinders and other straight shaft tools. A simple twist off, twist on quick release system allows the operator to reduce the time it takes to change grades or products during the job. The Roloc+ holders each are fitted with a ¼” diameter steel reinforced shaft and secure mounting system that allows for safe use of the products on their edge. The Roloc+ system can also be combined with either of the Roloc+ retaining buttons so that small unitised wheels can be mounted onto die grinders.

Getting the most from your wheels Selecting Convolute vs. Unitised
Product Surface Speeds
This choice will often be determined by the part configuration, wheel size availability, tool speed or other fixed circumstances
Because product speed has a significant effect on performance (cut, life and finish), it is important to select the proper speed for a particular operation and work piece.
Convolute is a wrapped construction on a standard sized core and the “flat” of the web becomes the cutting tool. The wheels are one directional, which is indicated by an arrow on the side of the wheel and arrows printed in the core. Unitised is a layered construction with a selection of centre hole sizes and no core. The “edge” of the web becomes the cutting tool. The wheels are non-directional.

BENCH MOTORS | Abrasive Systems
Generally, low speeds are desired for generating very uniform satin finishes, for finishing aluminium alloys without lubricants and for use on composite or other soft material applications. High speeds are recommended when it is desired to remove or blend surface imperfections and tough burrs. This high speed will result in a faster cut along with finer finishes.

Technical Recommendations for 3M™ Air-Powered Tools Appropriate Air-lines: • Use a clean, dry, lubricated air supply that will give a measured air pressure at the tool of 6.2 bar (90 psig) when the tool is running with the lever fully depressed. Note: Tools can be run at lower pressures, but should never be run higher than 6.2 bar (90 psig). If run at a lower pressure, the performance of the tool is reduced. • Use an approved 10mm (3/8”) or 13mm x 8m (1/2” x 25’) maximum length air line. • Connect the tool to the air supply. • It is strongly recommended that an air filter, regulator and lubricator (FRL) be used to supply clean, lubricated air at the correct pressure to the tool. If such equipment is not used, the tool should be manually lubricated.
To manually lubricate the tool: • Disconnect the air line and put 2 to 3 drops of suitable pneumatic motor lubricating oil, such as 3M™ Air Tool Lubricant 20451, into the hose end (inlet) of the tool. • Reconnect tool to the air supply and run tool for a few seconds to allow air to circulate the oil. • Lubricate daily if the tool is used frequently or if the tool starts to slow or lose power.
Recommended Minimal Air Line Diameter • 10mm: 3/8”
• 13mm: 1/2”
Recommended Maximum Hose Length • 8m: 25’
Recommended Maximum Working Air Pressure • 6.2 bar (90 psig)
