LEVEL 1 COURSE KS3 SPECIFICATION 3D DESIGN AND VISUALISATION 1 term

Example Project: Badges, Keyrings, Buttons, Fashion Rings In this course students explore simple ways to go from 2D to 3D. Students are taught to evaluate their progress and make checks along the way to ensure that their designs will 3D print.

3D MANUFACTURE 1 term

Example Project: USB Cover Design BCA’s engineering course takes students through the product development process. They measure, draw, manipulate and prepare 3D models precisely so that parts can 3D print accurately, assemble and fit.

3D SCANNING 1 term

Example Project: 3D Yearbook The 3D scanning course teaches students how to scan people and everyday objects. Our course content teaches students how 3D scanning integrates and relates with the overall 3D workflow.

1 YEAR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

This is the combination of the 3 courses outlined above.

LEVEL 2 COURSE KS4 SPECIFICATION 3D DESIGN AND VISUALISATION 1 term

Example Project: Homeware and Lighting As a progression from level 1, students explore how to model more complex and organic forms in 3D. Students are taught how to make more rigorous checks on 3D models to avoid common and frustrating 3D printing problems.

3D MANUFACTURE 1 term

Example Project: Phone Cover This course teaches students how to develop their 3D spatial awareness in order to solve technical challenges and see how things fit together. Students are introduced to mass production techniques, for example casting, and the place of 3D printing in this context.

3D SCANNING 1 term

Example Project: Custom Medical Device Students have to create designs based on 3D scans that they have captured in order to produce customised functional products.

1 YEAR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

This is the combination of the 3 courses outlined above.
