Who should they choose? The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, in the United States. The memorial currently shows the faces of four Presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The park has room for one more former President.

Student Expectations  





Topics □ Select a former president for your research. Research □ Using the approved websites document attached, gather print and electronic resources. □ Use “Note Taking Sheet” to gather and organize your research in your own words – Organizer 1. □ Create additional research questions. Technology Infused Research Project □ Create a PowerPoint which includes:  Name, number of Presidency and how many terms he served.  Where was he educated?  What jobs did he have before he became President?  During his Presidency, what were some of his major accomplishments?  What challenges did he face in office?  Why should he be remembered as a great leader?  Select the picture to be used to carve his head into the mountain and why it was selected.  Bibliography listing: website and title/author/copyright date of each book– Organizer 2. Presentation □ Present to your class and post on your teacher’s website for at home viewing. □ Present your information in a clear, organized way using appropriate expression and eye-contact. □ Answer all questions asked by the audience.
