I take this pleasant opportunity to present the annual report of our Vidyalaya for 2013-14 citing the outstanding achievements of our students in various curricular and cocurricular activities envisioned as last year’s objectives. The Navodaya Vidyalaya System is a unique experiment unparalleled in the annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya, Koraput was established in the year 1986 in accordance with the National Policy on Education 1986. The main objective of the Vidyalaya is to provide Quality Modern Education predominantly to the rural talented children and to promote National Integration. ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS: The Vidyalaya atmosphere is very conducive to nurture and nourish the children’s intrinsic capabilities. The team of my devoted teachers work from dawn to dusk balancing their style of teaching which caters to the need of both gifted children as well as slow learners. The students have put their consistent efforts in their studies. As an outcome of such sincere and combined efforts, our Vidyalaya has achieved 100% quality results in Class X and 92% in Class XII in CBSE Exam – 2013. 05 students of Class X have been awarded Merit Certificate by CBSE for securing 10 CGPA and among them A.OM.Praksah Subudhi stood first in the Vidyalaya . CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Besides academics achievements our students participated and brought laurels to the Vidyalaya in various competitions organized by the NVS and other organizations. The Vidyalaya believes that there is an underlying link between a child’s academic pursuits and other pursuits such as Literary. The House System is an integral part of Navodaya Vidyalaya. It helps a lot for the emotional, social, psychological and spiritual development of child. Co-existence and co-operative living is the motto of the House System. We are having four different houses, viz. Aravali, Nilgiri, Siwalik and Udaygirithe names of the hill ranges which stand high in the four corners of our country, bound together suggesting our children to be so. MESS SYSTEM: The Vidyalaya is having a full furnished big dining hall with required number of skilled staff to prepare and provide nutritious food to the children. The mess runs under the supervision of mess committee comprising of Principal, Vice Principal/Senior Most Teacher, Housemasters, Staff Nurse and students representatives. PTC : Effective functioning of residential system like our JNV depends on active involvement of parents and their representatives. A Parent Teacher Council is operative in the Vidyalaya comprising of 15 Parent members and 05 Teacher members for better functioning of the Vidyalaya. With the active participation of PTC members and parents, an extra classroom has been created for class VI students with an investment of Rs. 45,000. We have conducted PTC meeting from time to time to solve various problems related to the welfare of students. In this connection I would like to highlight about the shortage of classroom for Music and Gym for students which has already been discussed in the PTC meeting and we are planning to generate fund for this purpose. There is a persistent demand from the parents for construction of 2 rest sheds near boys and girls hostels.
