Overview We are pleased to introduce you to the latest revision of the Spire CX250 Color Server for the Xerox DocuColor 240/250 printer-copier. These release notes highlight the installation procedure, improvements and bug fixes for the Spire CX250 color server version 1.1 Service Pack 2. This version is the second service pack for this product and includes all previous fixes and patches. The Spire CX250 color server version 1.1 Service Pack 2 software provides consistent performance across platforms. The Spire CX250 color server version 1.1 Service Pack 2 software runs on both the RoHS and nonRoHS platforms, and includes all previous service packs and patches.
Software Requirements Checking Current Software Version The following software versions should be installed on your Spire CX250 color server before installing the version 1.1 Service Pack 2 software: •
Non-RoHS platforms — Spire CX250 color server version 1.0 (any version 1.0 build, with or without a service pack or any patches)

RoHS platforms — Spire CX250 color server version 1.1 or SP1

We recommend that IOT software version 7.8.0 and IOT firmware version ESSI 1.231.15 or later is also installed on your Spire CX250 color server.

You do not need to uninstall the previous version or patches before you install Service Pack 2.
To determine which Spire CX250 color server hardware platform you have, check your software version and the number of USB ports: Non-RoHS platforms •

Installing Service Pack 2 •
Prior to installing the Spire CX250 color server version 1.1 Service Pack 2 software, we recommend that you perform a Last Image Configuration Backup to make sure any important files are saved. To perform the backup, follow the instructions in the Spire CX250 Color Server Technical Manual located on CD #3.
Important: If you are using the bustled configuration, first connect to the Spire CX250 color server using the Remote Desktop Connection tool. •
Adobe Acrobat version 6 should be removed from your Spire CX250 color server before installing the Version 1.1 Service pack 2 software. Follow those steps for removing Acrobat 6: 1. From the Windows task bar, click Start > Control Panel. 2. In the Control Panel window, select Add or Remove Programs. 3. Select Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard, and then click Remove. 4. Close the Control Panel window.

Release Notes Installation steps for SP2: 1. Exit the Spire CX250 software. Verify that the Spire CX250 color server icon has disappeared from the launch bar in the system tray. 2. Do one of the following to access the Spire CX250 color server version 1.1 Service Pack 2 software update: •
Insert the CX250_V1.1_SP2 CD into CD/DVD.

Download and extract the Service Pack ZIP file from http://www.support.xerox.com Web site.
3. For Bustled configurations only: copy all of the version 1.1 Service Pack 2 files to the D:\Shared folder on your Spire CX250 color server. 4. Locate the Setup.exe file. It will be in one of the following locations: •

The CX250_V1.1_SP2 CD
5. Double-click the Setup.exe file. 6. Follow the steps in the Installation Wizard and when prompted, click Yes to restart the system 7. After the system restarts, Spire CX250 software will start automatically. 8. From the Help menu, select About and under Updates verify that the SP2 software was installed.

Print to Spire CX250 from Windows Vista Client The Spire CX250V1.1-SP2 support Vista client. Note: In order to enable the printing from Vista clients to the Spire CX250 Creo color servers the UAC (User Account Control) must be change from ON to OFF. UAC = Off
