SUMMER 2017 M120B HOW TO TEACH ADULTS EFFECTIVELY Recertification: 20 hours - Methods Monday thru Thursday, Jun. 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29, 2017 Tuition: $60 / $70 This course will discuss teaching adults by moving from information to formation to transformation. Topics will include: how adults learn, developing a learning environment, creating formative questions, small group dynamics, and theological reflection.

R250 WORLD RELIGIONS/INTERFAITH STUDIES Tuesdays & Thursdays, Jun. 20, 22, 27, 29, 2017

Recertification: 10 hours - Content Tuition: $40 / $45

This course offers an opportunity to look at different faith traditions outside of Christianity by engaging in conversation with these great religious traditions: Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and their impact on the Diocese of Orange.

M229 LEADERSHIP IN PARISH MINISTRY Recertification: 20 hours - Methods Tuesdays & Thursdays, Jun. 27, 29, July 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 2017 Tuition: $60 / $70 Students in this class will explore images, models and skills of Christian leadership within the parish setting. The class will explore the tensions in ministerial leadership, leadership styles, organization models and the theologies of gifts, call and service to the Body of Christ. This course is targeted towards active parish ministers and for those who are preparing for ministry roles in the Church.

R340 CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING Recertification: 20 hours - Content Tuesdays & Thursdays, Aug. 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 2017 Tuition: $60 / $70 An examination of the roots of Social Justice in our Scriptural heritage and the Catholic tradition. The class will review the biblical basis for championing the causes of Social Justice and the various Papal Encyclicals and Pastoral Plans that have built on the Gospel imperative. We will assess contemporary issues affecting us locally and globally, and how we are called to respond as Catholics.

SCHOLARSHIPS are available for those in need of financial assistance. Application must be submitted at least two weeks prior to first class session. For a scholarship application, go to IPM Website.

REGISTRATION Space is limited; therefore, early registration is encouraged. If notification is not given to the Institute and instructor before the class starts, students will be dropped from the class after first class session and no refund will be issued.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION once your registration has been processed; you will see it added to incomplete classes in your file on the IPM Student Portal. REFUNDS will only be issued for written cancelations at least one week prior to the first class session. No refunds will be issued for no-shows. Attendance at the first class session is required. If notification is not given to the Institute and instructor before the class starts, students will be dropped from the class after first class session and no refund will be issued.

CREDIT/NO CREDIT Attendance at all class session and completion of all course reading and assignment is required in order to receive credit.

ATTENDANCE Students are expected to attend all class sessions. Punctual arrival and attendance for entire class session is required. One absence (2.5 hours) may be excused with a justified reason (emergency) and a makeup assignment must be completed no later than two weeks after the last class session. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the instructor for the make-up assignment.

LATE ARRIVAL Students, who arrive 15 minutes late for two sessions, will be considered as an absence (2.5 hours).

STUDENTS Only students who are registered to the course are permitted inside the classroom. For safety of children and minors, they cannot be inside or outside the facilities.

BOOKS/TEXT Students may be required to purchase text(s) for class. Course texts will be sent via e-mail to registered students as soon as it has been determined.

MASTER CATECHIST CERTIFICATION INFORMATION The Institute for Pastoral Ministry offers an advanced certification in theological foundations, the Master Catechist Certification. This certification provides students with a firm foundation in the Roman Catholic Tradition. This program is designed for professional and ministerial educators. CERTIFICACIÓN PARA FORMADORES DE CATEQUISTAS El Instituto para el Ministerio Pastoral ofrece una certificación avanzada en los fundamentos teológicos de la Iglesia Católica referente a la escritura, la tradición y la espiritualidad, así como también la pastoral y la investigación teológica actual – Certificación para Formadores de Catequistas. Este programa está diseñado para educadores profesionales y miembros de ministerios. Este programa consiste en tres niveles: Inicial, Intermedio y Avanzado. Completando los tres niveles, obtienen una certificación avanzada por diez (10) años. Los estudiantes deben aplicar y ser aceptados oficialmente al programa. CRÉDITO/NO CRÉDITO Para obtener crédito por la clase debe asistir a todas las sesiones, completar lecturas y tareas.

ASISTENCIA Se requiere asistencia y puntualidad en todas las clases. Sólo una ausencia puede ser justificada con una forma de justificante, un comprobante de su emergencia y haciendo una tarea asignada por el instructor. Si no entregan la forma de justificante, comprobante y la tarea dentro de dos semanas después que termine la clase, no se dará crédito. Es la responsabilidad del estudiante tramitar el requisito de la ausencia con el instructor. LLEGADA TARDE Estudiantes que lleguen 15 minutos tarde en dos sesiones, se le considerará como ausencia de 2.5 horas. ESTUDIANTES Los cursos ofrecidos son para estudiantes mayores 18 años de edad, por ninguna razón se permite que haya menores de edad dentro o fuera de las instalaciones. Para la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, SOLAMENTE se permite la estancia de estudiantes inscritos en el curso, de otra manera no pueden quedarse.

LIBROS En las clases avanzadas se requerirá tarea, favor de seguir las indicaciones de la descripción de la clase que se les entregará el primer día. En cada curso se hará uso de un libro que se asignará y que necesitarán comprar.

HORAS DE RECERTIFICACIÓN Las horas de recertificación se indican debajo de cada curso y estas horas se reflejarán en su archivo electrónico en el Portal de Estudiantes.
