2016 SUMMER FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION (Deadline: Thursday, April 14th)

Beginning late March, summer award notifications will be sent to your MyUDC student portal (My.udc.edu) if you qualify. Please monitor your award status and/or messages tab in your portal for updates. Applications may be submitted by fax (202) 274-6060, email [email protected], in person at either the Flagship Financial Aid Office (Bldg. 39, Suite A-133) or the Community College Campus at 801 North Capitol St., (3rd FL, Rm 305).

Terms of Summer 2016 Award Offer (Retain for Your Records) Beginning late March, summer award notifications will be sent to your MyUDC student portal (MyUDC.edu) if you qualify. Please monitor your award status and/or messages tab in your portal for updates.

Please note the following terms, conditions, and important information. •

A 2015-2016 FAFSA, www.fafsa.ed.gov is required and the submission of all income verification documents (if requested). NOTE: If you have already completed the 2015-2016 FAFSA and listed the UDC school code (007015), you do not need to complete another FAFSA to determine your summer 2015 eligibility.



You must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours for Federal Student Loans



If you are awarded a Pell and/or SEOG grant, your award may be prorated based on your final enrollment. NOTE: SEOG recipients are required to enroll in 6crs. Also, depending on your EFC1, 6crs or more may be required for some Pell Grant recipients.

*12 or more credit hours (full-time enrollment status): You will be awarded 100% of the Pell and/or SEOG award reflected. *9-11 credit hours (3/4 time enrollment status): You will be awarded 75% of the Pell and/or SEOG award reflected. *6-8 credit hours (1/2 time enrollment status): You will be awarded 50% of the Pell and/or SEOG award reflected. *1-5 credit hours (less-than-half-time enrollment status): You will be awarded between 0% to 25% of the Pell award reflected. •

You will be responsible for full payment of your bookstore charges if you become ineligible for financial aid or if your financial aid is reduced and is not sufficient to cover your account balance.



Aid will not disburse to your student account (MyUDC) until after summer session II attendance has been verified. Note: Summer Only loans require two disbursements. The anticipated disbursement dates are July 8th and July 11th.

* Students who do not meet the priority application deadline are strongly encouraged to make alternative payment arrangements. **Submission of an SAP appeal does not guarantee approval. Late submissions and students whose appeals are denied are encouraged to seek alternative sources (i.e. Private Student Loan) to secure their classes as payment plans are not offered during the summer semester. *** Allow 3 business days from date of waiver approval notification for the removal of the health insurance charge from your student account (MyUDC). If there are any questions regarding the removal of this charge, please contact Student Accounts directly at (202) 274-5168. **** Please plan accordingly, summer disbursements will not occur until summer session 2 attendance is verified. Once aid has disbursed to your student account (MyUDC), please allow up to 14 days for the issuance of any refund due to you.





Summer 2016 Late Financial Aid Applicant Procedure Students who complete their financial aid application after Thursday, April 14th are considered late applicants. Late applicants are strongly encouraged to make payment arrangements immediately to secure their classes. The review of late applications will commence after late registration has concluded on May 20th (summer session 1) and July 1st (summer session 2). Students may be reimbursed up to their eligibility.

Recommendations for Purchasing Books It is imperative that you complete all assignments while your file is under review. We recommend that you explore some of these cost effective alternatives to assist you obtaining your text books. • Rent your textbooks through the University Bookstore, www.udc.bkstr.com/ . Select books Information Text Rental • Check the publisher’s website for the availability of downloading the digital version of your text book. • Perform web searches for other well-known (i.e. Amazon etc.) text book vendors offering textbooks rentals. • Check the on campus library for the availability of reference and/or short term text book loaners.
